Hey guys, welcome to plug in for Player 4. I'm your host Brandon, and I'm with the two chaps. Say hi. Hi I'm. Chap. Two say Chap 2. Yes. Oh, OK. It's like, you know, 1 ring evening. How are you doing, fellow associate? Oh, he's tired enough to be speaking elegantly. This ain't good. That that's, that's horrifying. I don't know how I feel like. I don't think horrifying would be the right word to use. I think we have to use. I don't fucking know. Oh come on, man.
You can set it up and then now you don't do it. Like not not now. I'm just upset.
Just straight up boner kill there.
Boner kill. That's a good way.
God damn well how have we all been doing? I've been doing stick all year so far. My last episode, I believe it was my last episode, I was like, oh man, predictions for 2026 are going to be so good, no. No. Against the Super flu.
For 10 days I was sick. Yeah, you were. Yeah, you were pretty sick. Yeah, I still am, but I'm recovering. That's. Why? Literally, I'm finally getting there. Yes, OK. And we took the liberty of just deciding to record this over Discord, just to be safe for everybody's well-being and health. Yep. And we should be back in the regular studio two weeks for.
Two weeks. That's so far away I. Don't feel like a flash? Yeah, you know these weeks go by fast. Nope. But what about you, Mark? How you been doing? I've been doing OK, just keeping myself busy. Been really enjoying the steam state sale or winter sale a bit more than I should probably. But you know. Been adding a lot of different games to my steam list. I have a grand total of 12 games at least, which is like double what I had. We got Outlast Trials, we got Generation 0, we got Void Crew, we got a whole bunch of stuff and on top of that we have started doing playthroughs for our YouTube channel.
Yes, we have. They, whether they have not, whether or not they have come out by now, we have started recording.
We have. We're going to have a game for me and Mark. We're going to have a game for Brandon and Mark and we're going to have a game for me and Brandon. Yes, we've. And then and then hopeful, sorry, but but hopefully we have also a game for all three of us. I don't want to say what it is, but hopefully it comes out too along with those.
Start getting a little bit more one-on-one time with each of the pairings of friends in this podcast. I did not have good words to describe that. That's all right. No, but you were right about the one on ones because I've I've learned recently that I like the the one-on-one with my friends. I still like playing games with everybody every so often, but I prefer the one on ones. Plus I think this is a good way to like pretty much learn one each other's friendships, both for the viewer or player 4 and each other as well.
Yeah, and a little bit more of our interpersonal dynamics on a one to one level. Yeah. Oh yeah, when we started recording the game, me and Ether doing that shit was funny. I. Don't know game, I don't remember. I'll remind you later once I say it. Yeah, up there it is. There's dude. There's Dude on me.
There it is, God damn it. Let me let me tell you the game that me and Mark are playing. That was a lot of puppies. God. Yes, I've been editing that and like I got to get that. I still have to get that edited,
which I've started on in part. Where I finally go like we need to go. You should add like the the Metal Gear. Like what sound? That's what I need, yes. Yes, there is a sound. Difference what happened? Oh wait, oh wait, we got to go. We got to go. Now, there is a sound effect that I have put in there in the episode so far.
I'll have to show you it later, but it was just the way you got on that bike that just fucking floored my ass because it was just so dumb. It wasn't. Like you got on it and you were like, so well, I kind of gave it away now, but yeah, it's, yeah. That's all right. Oh. Dude it was funny as fuck. I know, I know. The first time I saw that, like when Mark got on it and like, you know, seeing the actual player model, I'm like, what the hell is happening?
What? Dying. I'm dying. But As for me, things have been good besides my part of my tooth deciding to just say see you later bucko and fella. You know, just a second for the viewer, not in pain or anything. I'm getting it taken care of next week. It's fine. They can do a filling or whatever. But yeah, that was not fun. I. Nobody has had quite the experience with that as well, and let's just say it's not fun for her either. Oh, she, oh, she's had that happen. Oh, I understand. She said that happened recently and like, it's just like, oh great, here's another piece she got early.
Tell her I I I send my condolences to her tooth. I understand what she means man. Like I said, doesn't hurt, it's just the fact that happened. That's, you know, dismantling and then, you know, like now there's a hole in her mouth and she can't 2 on that side for, you know, things getting inside that hole. That's like a great again, you caught her early. Yeah, I'm lucky that it's just a piece of the tooth that could be replaced or put a cap over it or whatever, you know it. That's, you know, I'm lucky.
I'm also lucky it doesn't hurt. So that means the nerve didn't get fucked up so they can do what they need to do. But I want to make AI just want to make this funny for a second because it kind of isn't out. I think about it the way I found out it came out. I'll tell our mythical man Jack later.
I was using one of those like little floss things and I was because I thought I had a piece of like like food stuck, you know, So I'm like getting in there, you know, and I guess when I lifted it took the tooth, some of the tooth and it's I heard. Wait, what?
Took another tooth? Fucker He's. A new shit. No, like when I lifted like I guess, yeah, that that piece came out and I heard an audible tick, tick, tick on the fucking floor in my kitchen. Let me tell you, when I heard that, I went ghost white. I'm like, there's no fucking way. And I checked and I'm like, oh, nice, this is bad.
Now I, I know this like, like, Oh my God, you know, that's not funny. It is kind of funny now. When it happened, I couldn't tell you how much anxiety filled my body. I am now finally chilling out. Well, yeah, when your tooth kind of just, you know, dismantled out of your body, you're like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. It committed Honorable squirrel
yeah that was that was something so yeah take take care of your teeth get regular cleanings get an electric toothbrush apparently those are actually really good from what my brother has told me it really does clean your teeth the. One that I got, I got it for my birthday last year, was fucking nice. They really do a good job. I would love to get a water pick too. A water pick would also, yeah, but yeah, now this ain't my first rodeo. I've had a tooth actually crack in half and they had to take it out.
So this is nothing. You know, I am thankful for my dad's teeth 'cause that's what I have, Not actually my dad's teeth. No, it's just for my dad's side. Shut up. My brother and my mother aren't so lucky with that because like they'll I think it's way, I think it's my dad's side. But yeah, anyway, their teeth just no matter how what they do, it's just bad. My teeth though, like I, I guess I just had the right genes that I just didn't need to brush my teeth for like 8 years and not, I know it's going to sound gross, but I just like I've just always been lazy with it.
It's always been hard for me to develop a, a pattern to brush my teeth. Even now it's still pretty hard to even get like 3 * a week. Anyway, yeah, I'm lucky I have the teeth that I have. I mean, I'd probably be missing all of that. I mean, I'm lucky as well because my like my mom, my mom's side, like she had kind of soft teeth. So she just like, what are you talking about? Like they're softer than what your teeth should be, so they're easier to break. So she, you know, ultimately she had the rest of her teeth removed at this point.
I mean, she's, you know, got dentures now, but the, the, the thing she had to go through with that was not fun because the place we took her to, they don't really numb you much. Oh. So. Yeah, but Mom's trooper, she got it done. This was last Christmas, so. But I'm lucky I, I really haven't had too much trouble with my teeth lately. Like I really after that one tooth cracked, I had removed that was really it. So I've been lucky and I, I usually what I do cause a lot of my teeth, they don't produce a lot of plaque from what I can tell.
So I usually just brush at night, but I'm probably going to have to start, you know, doing the mornings or whatever, or at least twice a day just to keep everything going. And I just, I want one of those electric toothbrushes after all this is said and done is that I need that. I need that in my life. Vibrate.
Anyway, getting to what games we've been playing recently, I'm sorry, go on. Do you have one more thing? No, not no. Go ahead. I was just going to talk about how I started Secret of the Mimic. Yeah, I'm only like a couple months late compared to, you know, security breach where I was four years late. Yeah, you'll get around to it. That was fun, but I keep telling myself that it's not going to be like Security Breach, even though I keep thinking it's going to be like Security Breach, even though I know it's not going to be like Security Breach.
I'm I'm powering through the game. I really am trying, but so far it's it's OK. I'm not sure if I like the idea of a Five Nights at Freddy's game having one enemy. It's kind of like Five Nights at Freddy's 3. Yeah. Where it has, yes it has a scary moments but it's also like
boring for the most part. You want more out of it than just having one. I think, I'm not exactly sure what I want out of it, you know, other than being secure security breach. But yeah, I don't know. It's definitely a 180. Yes, it's, you know, very different. I'm like, I'm having fun with it. I'm I like getting the collectibles. I think I just need to see more of how the game plays because really all I've seen is like two instances where I have to hide from the mimic and a chase scene. That's all I've really like done in the game in terms of facing an enemy.
So we'll see how that changes. Yeah. I mean it, it's one of those things you just give it a little bit more time. But also I mean it. It just might not be for you which. That's fine. You wouldn't be the only one 'cause I know what Markiplier I think said that after his play. Theories like this just isn't. This is not the fnaf for him. Yeah, I think that's what I'm thinking. Like I, I definitely liked, I mean, obviously the mainline games, but also just I have a whole document on security Breach that, you know, in case the time ever arises to talk about it.
I have all my feelings of when I finished it, but so to kind of save on that. But like just I think what I missed most was the atmosphere and the animatronics of security. Yeah, I can see. My main gripe of Security Breach is that I wish we got to see more of all the animatronics before they went haywire. And I know each hour makes them dirtier. You don't get to see them like up close begin themselves. Yes. Before they get dirty other than Freddie and even then it doesn't last long. Like you can pretty much do like hours one through I think 3 in like an hour or two in real life.
Something like that, yeah. It's not not that long of a game in all honesty. It's not it's a pretty short and then there's just a whole thing of Five Nights at Freddy's. Where's the Five nights bullshit? I call bullshit. The. Only thing with the mimic is where's Freddy? Yeah, there's no. Fretting the game, really, it's just, hey, here's the mimic, which I get it, it's a different story, whatever, but it's just like I would. Oh, that's what it was. It's the definition of mascot horror without having a mascot like a set mascot.
So like takes the gimmick of the series and then just doesn't even do it. Pretty much. Because I, I mean, I haven't seen a single Freddy costume. Yeah, like, I mean, yeah, there's like, what Penny or whatever her name was Jackie. That's what her name was. Yeah, Jackie. She's kind of like the face of it, but even then, so far I saw her once. I'm not sure if that comes later, but yeah. I I can probably say or answer that like. That's all right. Well, not any spoilers because I want you to go through the game,
but this game does. It's technically a prequel I think. Yeah, I think it's a prequel to a security breach. It's a prequel to, I think not just Security Breach. So why I say that? As you saw a poster, Fredbear's Family Diner, that's that's before actual like Fazbear Entertainment. So just so you have that that knowledge going in again, once you go through the game, a lot of questions will be answered. Oh, of course, for sure. Even if it's, you know, you play through the game or you watch somebody play it.
I decided to watch somebody play it before I played it because at the time I don't know if I was going to get it so and I wanted to know the story. Right. But it is definitely a complete 180 from security breach and I, I really want to see the glam rocks again because they were so fucking cool, dude, they were. Cute. I really wish that I got to see more of them, you know, as themselves and you know, not dirty. By the time, by the time the game is opened up, it's like 3:15 AM. That's like more than 1/2 of the game.
And by that time the the glam rocks are really fucking dirty. Yeah. There's like no more scripture. Well, relatively no more script like scripted stuff. You can go wherever you want.
No. But that's my great. I don't know if this will be incentive enough to get to have you go back to security breach. Somebody made a mod? That Oh yeah, we're adding all the stuff that all the cut stuff, yeah. And Jesus Christ, there's a lot it like, like I said, it's probably not enough sensitive for you to go back, but I just want to make sure you knew that. I'll probably go back there at some point 'cause I I just love the atmosphere. Yeah, as much as I got really upset with fucking what was a fucking chica fucking finding me in my hiding spot even though she didn't see me?
Yes, I quit the game after that. I got pissed.
But no, watching you play it really made me love it more.
I'm telling you, when I finished it, there's like I, I think I talked about in the episode where I after I finished it is there's a gem in there somewhere. There's a charm. Yes, I I wholeheartedly agree with that. It's God damn man. Fucking security breach. But the episode is not about Five Nights at Freddy's. Maybe it won't point with it. We might do it. I like this. I'm definitely talking about the security breach on that episode.
Yes, now today, the theme of this episode is the best and worst inventories in video games.
Who wants to go first? I'm gonna defer to Mark, see what he's got to do. OK. We don't normally start with Mark. It's a It's a nice refresher. A point, yeah, No.
There it is. Decreed on T's mouth. Thank you anyways. Yeah, I know. 1 inventory system that really just kind of irks me is Planet Crafters inventory system. Oh, that's a good one. That was on my mind and we initially brought this up, Brandon. That was on my mind. It pissed. My God, yes. But like, nothing bad about The Cave or anything but the inventory system just fucking sucks. It really does. It's. The the controls are not intuitive and then the the way that the implemental weight based system is kind of annoying.
There's a weight based system? What? Yeah, so, so each of the objects, it is like a certain weight. That must be for the harder difficulties because I just will carry whatever I wanted. Interesting. No, I can't remember off the top of my head. It's been, I haven't played Planet Crafter too much recently. It's not a weight base, isn't it? It's just an inventory base. Yeah, it is as inventory full. I I, I was thinking of a Space Engineers for a second there with the because, Oh my God. But still, yeah, the controls are very unintuitive.
When you get to the point of the game where you're doing automation, you have to play around with the inventories a lot to make sure it doesn't choke itself. Yes. And it's, it's, it's just a little weird be having to set priorities for everything in order for machines to still be able to take resources and then being able to just ferry stuff around and it, it's just weird. My problem with the game with the inventory is because you know in planet Grafter you get different tiers of items and that includes what is it backpack storage.
So you get like what do you think for all right cool, you have 4 for a really long time. Then you have then you finally unlock tier 5 at the end of the game and by that point you've can really just sit there and wait for the the planet, the like complete terraform. It's kind of stupid just how fast you get 1 tiers one through 4. Granted 1 is, you know right there because can't go anywhere.
But anyway, there's just how how spread apart those are compared to just the 5th tier alone. And.
You can pretty much with tier 5 you can pretty much hold a half a Tier 2 locker or maybe like 2/3 and it holds a lot. Yeah, but again, by the time you progress that far, you don't really need too much of the Tier 5 tech. Like you don't, you don't need tier 5 oxygen tanks because by that point you have a breathable atmosphere. Right. Only thing that's sort of useful is tier 5 exoskeleton because that just gives you more inventory slot or just more equipment slots. Yeah, I mean, there's also like the the higher tiers of the jetpack.
True, but.
Yeah, the like in term because you have you have like, you know, jetpack, flash, flashlight module, destruction, deconstruction module, all that kind of stuff like backpack, gas tank, whatever, whatever. All of those go on your person inventory, which is why you need a bigger exoskeleton.
And then you have your everything else inventory where you have your magnesium, you pretty much your basic resources or uranium rods or stuff like that.
And the exoskeleton is fine. You you pretty much are never going to worry about stuff for the year exoskeleton. It's your actual inventory that's the problem. Yeah, with just how much of this is the game has you go through to go explore out, collect resources, bring them back to your base before you die of oxygen, water or food exposure? Just. To make a little bit of progress here or there, the the inventory system probably could have been done a little bit differently. All right, but that's as much as I've really got for Planet Crafter.
You guys want to take it over? Yeah, I can talk about one all. Right. We're actually like 2 on my mind, but I'll talk about this one first as Astro near. So I have talked about this game a little bit before where you go from planet to planet and you get like different resources on those different planets and like pretty much that's how you make stuff first year on Sylvia. And then you can go to like the solo or that street. I think one of them is called anyway, but there's like 5 planets sold and there's two moons.
But again, these these resources are spread across these planets and moons. So you have to go to different places. But then you have your backpack, which is a physical backpack. It can't change how many items there are, and the farther you get into the game it kind of reduces how much backpack space you have. I'll explain. So on the back of the backpack you have 8 slots. And let's say, let's say you go out, collect grass and you eventually get organic material. Or you you pick up some resin and you have resin.
Now you have two slots filled and these. Depending on what material you're trying to collect, it can be pretty damn fast. Yeah. But then you also have what's the the bumpers? I would call them if you're using a controller, you have your bumper inventories, which you you can use to like put down tethers if they're on one of the two sides or turn on and off your work light. So you can like look see in a radius better around you at night or in caves. And you can just turn them on and off with your bus.
So that's 10 total. Then you can craft very basic stuff with a very basic resources on your backpack and depend like you can like go left and right on the D pad. Did like change what items like this? It'll take compound or organic or resin or whatever. That can potentially be another resource slot if you need one, because even if you don't craft anything, it'll still be like, oh, you have the you have the resource you need in order to build it. Let me put it there for you. Let me let me bring it on down.
So that can be what 11 slots now at the need of your Terra formation gun, which has three slots. This is what I mean by it reduces as you play because you can get mods for your gun. That's like, oh, drill size or drill speed, getting through the harder materials to dig through and stuff like that. Or like depending on old, you want to make it flat so you can change instead of boring into the earth or putting stuff down. You can make. You can like a change to the flatness of the planet if you wanted to, but you have three slots there which are split like exclusively for the drills.
So you could have 14. You do have 14 slots, but once you get far enough into the game, those three get taken up by mods and you can't really do anything there. So you're down to 11. But you also have soil canisters. So if if you ever want to, you know, use that while you're digging through the earth, you can use the soil to for that flatness or making material, that's another slot down. And again with the tethers, that's another slot down or a work light that's not like on the bumpers, that's a slot.
So like at the end you basically have 9 slots. It's just so constricting. And yeah, as you go, you get,
you have a spaceship, you eventually get a spaceship and then a bigger spaceship which can hold items than an even bigger spaceship which can hold more items or even like just bigger item. Like for example, you can bring like a smelter with you if you really wanted to.
So you have your spaceship storage, which is cool. That's, that's pretty cool. But like on your person when you're out exploring, again, depending on which resources you're collecting, it's just you can, you can collect them really fast or some certain ones are really slow. But if you're going for one of those fast ones, it's like, all right, I got to walk 9 miles. All right, I'm full. I got to walk 9 miles back. Oh man. That's the. Worst. Yeah, annoying. Yeah, that's all right. It's it's for the most part manageable.
There's just times where it's like, oh fuck, I want to carry all these back but I don't have enough space.
All righty, I guess it's my turn.
So. All right, so for me these are pretty easy ones, but I'm going to start off with one Skyrim's inventory. Oh so. I don't have experience of this. You're going to. You're going to have to explain this to me. The only me, I just know it from the memes so go ahead. So the inventory, it's not, it's not bad, it's just like everything is in their own like dedicated slot. So for like weapons, armors, ammo like like that or well the ammo's with the weapons, your healings, your shouts, like magic, all that shit.
It can get a little confusing sometimes when you are trying to look for something that you think is in one category but actually isn't.
And then also that the inventory when you're going through things can be a slog if you have too much shit. And as a a Bethesda game, that's you know, you're, you're, you're picking shit up. Fuck the weight. You're going to pick everything up because that's what you do.
Like this is going to be a short one because Skyrim's inventory is not like glamorous or anything, but it's it's one that I can understand, you know, being from a game from 2011.
It works, it's functional. I just sometimes have a problem navigating it. I might hit a button by accident that completely closes the inventory. So I got to go back into it and go fucking try to find the shit I was looking for. Like it's, it's just, it's, it's one of those just little pet peeves, I guess.
But once you get it down like it's, it's usually fine. I it this might be a problem for me just because I'm so used to other games inventories being better like other Bethesda games inventories. Like Oblivion's inventory is kind of similar to Skyrims, but not like it's has its own categories and all this stuff, but I just feel like I'm able to get through that inventory pretty. Fast. So would you say Oblivion is a good inventory? So I would say it was better, yes. Now I'm going off of the remake but.
True. But I believe the original Oblivions inventory screen is I I don't want to say the same, but it's similar.
Like I, I prefer the way they did it in Oblivion. But again, Skyrims is not bad. It is not bad by any means. It's just it feels a little clunky and slow. But that could be that could just just be me, you know? Yeah, I don't. Have to think about it as as probably it's Skyrim's an old game so it's it. It's probably just the mechanics of the time just not syncing well with. Yes. Modern expectations. But that's actually. Another point, yes it is. But still, I love Skyrim. I do. I love it like I never used to, but until like I like I play Fallout and all that and I'm like, you know what?
I want to try something different and going through Skyrim was great.
There are some gripes that I have with it, but that's for another topic. But inventory wise it's fine. I'm just used to modern things now and it's, you know, not really the fault of the game, it's just the time it was made.
But I consider it a good inventory for what it is. So OK, what about y'all? And got got me more stuff. I mean, I do got another one. I'm actually looking at it right now. I just got a clarification. Is this both good and bad or just bad? It's both good or bad. OK, so there's this game. Now I like my indie games, so few have probably heard of this game. It's called Vulcanoids. I know it's on me and Mark's list to play together. So you may or may not see that on the YouTube's at some point. But basically you, you have this drill ship and every so often on a volcano erupts.
So you have to go underground or otherwise. I don't know what happened. I don't want to find out, but as you get a bigger and bigger drill ship, you can put more modules on this thing. This could be turrets inventory. This could be like foraging like a smelter or something like that. But the storage actually in this game is not that bad like you have. Oh sorry, you have 35 inventory slots on your character, which that's actually a lot. You can hold your like all your weapons and ammo and all that
and there's not much since you're so tied to your ship as well. You're it's not like you're venturing too far off and getting too many resources and to come back and issues with no, I'm looking at the drill ship, but it says inventory slots 92 out of R and 51. I'm not sure if I would have to build more if I need that all at 1:51 or as I fill it up like there's 92 used because I see one empty spot right now. So I'm not sure what the deal is there. But honestly it's it's pretty well thought out and like there is no weight limit or anything.
Like right here I have 1384 pistol turret ammo in a single stack. So you're good. You're set by honor. Like it's just because of the restrictions that the game has of being practically tied to your ship or visiting frequently your ship. You're not really being weighed down too much by the lack of how much inventory you have 'cause you can just be like, all right, let me just do this real quick. You know, fight, fight. If you get to meet is pick up stuff off their body is come back to the ship, drop it off.
Or even sometimes you're out and about and then all of a sudden, hey, your ships taking damage. So you got to go back. You got to defend your ship.
And yes, you could have turrets, but also sometimes the AI is just too dumb slash smart, both the turrets and the attacking enemies to like stay far enough away to where the turds don't activate. She's like, oh God damn it, now I got to deal with this. So you got to go back to your ship, kill the enemy. Yeah, it's this. It's actually like one of the one of the better inventory systems I've seen in a game and I am very cool with that.
All righty, Mark, do you got anything?
I mentioned space engineers. I kind of want to talk about space engineers for a little bit hurry. So speed Space Engineers, it's inventory system is kind of, it's much more straightforward. Everything is weight based though. So instead of each object is an individual unit, it's all based, that's all based around with the weight of the object. And you know, this makes sense for it's a space sandbox game. As you pick up more resources, it weighs down your craft and whatnot and you have to expend more energy just to move it around and shit.
But the thing that I don't really like about that is that for one thing, different resources require different size piping to move. So like, say, if you, if you're making a mining vessel and you need to move stone throughout your vehicle, it's got a, it's got to be able to move through small pipes. But if you need to move say like resources like missiles and pods and stuff or ammunition, sometimes that requires using large piping just to be able to move it. And there's no real good indicator on any of the items that says, oh, this could move through small piping or this could move through large piping.
Another thing on top of that is that in order for the game to not freak out, you cannot make loops in your inventory system. So what I, what I mean by that is say you bring home or bring back to base a slew of different resources and you want to have a central large storage for all of your stuff. And how I was trying to set this up was I was trying to set it up with it starts at the central storage. You have a feeder that says, OK, so you this this resource can only go through this loop in One Direction using that using the the sort of filter and it would take you certain items out, send them through the processing machines and send the other resources back.
And the idea of that was to be able to restrict certain resources from being produced. Well what happens is that if you make loops, the games logic just kind of breaks down on the inventory system and and it just starts acting in weirder ways that you don't expect that it just doesn't work anymore. All right, very good. Yeah. All right. You know it, It's nothing too difficult, it's just it could be annoying. Yeah, it's just one of those like mildly annoying things that, you know, could be different just.
Yeah, when when you're starting on, you're not aware of it. It can be insanely annoying trying to figure it out, but it's just one of those things that you just kind of have to learn the quirks of it and just go from it. Yeah.
Yeah. You got anything more, Brandon? Yo, yeah. So I'm going to go with the next one for me, the one of the ones that are kind of like, why did you do this? So for most of us, I, I don't know if you guys know like how Resident Wolf 4's inventory is. It's like Tetris based. Yeah. Yeah. So that was that was good like that. You know that that that is why I'll I will talk about. But then you go from resident wolf four to five, took that away like took took away that fucking inventory screen and gave you 6 slots.
That's it. That's all you can hold. Yeah. And. Oh, that's really dumb. I sounds like an older RPG, like a JRPG or? Something dude, yeah, like, I mean, I got through it, but like I and like, for the record, I'd like resident will 5:00 But that was just one thing because you have your inventory and then you have your partner's inventory.
So here, you know, you have that many slots, you know, like, OK, that's fine. But also your partner, the the AI, you know, might be like, oh, you're hurt just a little bit here. I'm going to use a green herb on you. Fuck. Well, at least I have an inventory slot now.
But if you, if you take them out of the equation for a second, like just the inventory itself, you're you you just dumbed it down way too much. And it's it it took away all the satisfaction of when you went and picked something up in RE4 and your inventory pops up and says, you know, you got to move shit around. Yeah, it's like a little mini game. Start moving the crap around, turn things around. Can you flip that gun upside down? Maybe that'll give you a little bit more room, you know? Well, we're just going to give you fucking 6 or is it 6 or or is it?
No, no, it's 9. I think it's nine. It's been a little while since I've played it, but you give us these nine slots or whatever and that's it. Like this. This is kind of. Shitty. Now, it didn't ruin the game for me because if you put these, how this inventory works is the top left, right and bottom slot. If you put your weapons there or like any item you want to quickly take out, you can hit like the D pad in either of those directions and you'll take like your shotgun out or whatever gun you have assigned to it.
So it's kind of quick. So you don't have to open up your inventory to get a weapon out. The other thing too, when you open up the inventory, the game does not pause.
Oh no. So I think this is probably something to do with the fact that the game is multiplayer, so you can have like someone else controlling the MPC or your partner or whatever. So if you, you know, if somebody opened up their inventory, it would pause the entire game. It probably wouldn't have been good, but I have made that mistake too many times where I think I'm OK when I open that menu and then I come back and I'm dead. You know, I just, I, I don't understand what Capcom's reasoning for that was.
Like, the whole Tetris thing was great. Like you knew if you could not fit this item, you were not getting it unless you got rid of something. Every time that I've seen that inventory screen whenever you played it, I'm like, what the fuck are we doing? I fucking love it dude, it is so good. And then they. That takes up like the whole width of the thing and you got like 30 more spots or not like 60 more spots, but then you also have like 3 bandages or whatever and that takes up the slot. And so you know, are you down to like what, 14?
No, you're down to like 10 slots. But then, oh wait, you picked up this this thing for the puzzle that you need, so now you're down to like 8 slots. I mean like for because I know for. No, I know. Yeah, Yeah. OK. Yeah, I I know that the the mission objectives don't take up inventors, but still, it's just like eating bullets. Bullets take up two slots and you have two guns 'cause you have your your gun and your pistol. Or, God forbid, your rocket launcher. Chicago Typewriter. What are you doing? Chicago typewriter, hand cannon, the fucking rocket launcher, and then my like 60 pieces of health
that is taking up most of the space in my attache case.
Oh, yeah, yeah. I just, I mean, it's a good time. Like it it is. It is so great. The only thing is with the side objectives and the remake of RE4, those items do take space. Now there's only like a a couple side missions that do that more. So the fish you had to go like fishing and they get this big ass fish, which you don't have to get rid of. You can't keep it. It's a health item.
But yeah, it, it, it looks really odd to somebody who may not play RE4. So I, I can, I can understand that. I'm just so used to it. And I just, I just love the fact of just thinking like, you know, Leon has to get something out of his fucking case. So he's got all the enemies. Hang on a second. I got to get something out. And he opens up his fucking, he puts his case on the floor, opens it up, you know, like, OK, what the fuck do I need now? You know, it's just, it's. Just. A will die. I mean, I got, I got a controversial 1.
I feel like it's controversial. OK, I want to talk about Terraria's inventory system, OK? Because you have like 160 or so, like different slots. Like you have 50 for your inventory, then you have 4 for ammo. You have the trash space. You have the four for coins, which surprisingly for a gun is ammo. Then you have all your armor and all your accessories, but then you have three sets of that because the game is just like, well, here you go. So that's so you know, like 5 accessories, 5 vanity accessories, which they'll be equipped, but they'll do nothing.
Same thing for armor, 3 armor pieces and three variant vanity armor pieces. And again you have three of them. But then you also have like your mount, your hook, your what is it called mining cart, whatever the one that you like, ride on the rails, whatever. It's just like, but you simplified. You have 50 inventory slots and the top slots are your hot bar that you can scroll through. Otherwise you have to open up your inventory. 50 sounds like a lot. It's not. It fills up 'cause you have all your all all the stuff, Yeah, but then the rest of your inventory is like, you just kill so many item, like so many enemies, or you break blades of grass, or you kill a critter or catch a critter and it's just your inventory gets filled with a bunch of different blocks with a bunch of different flowers or mob drops or God forbid, that 276th thousandth banner of a.
Bat it's the most random ship. It's always just a banner. Oh my God, always a banner. Like there's so much inventory until you realize there's no inventories. Yeah. And then, but then you can also get like the the money through or the Piggy Bank, whichever doesn't matter. Take your pick and you can store items in there. But it's like, Oh well, I'm storing all the items that I'm using for the future or all the weapons I need for the future. Like for example, here's the copper short sword, the Murasama, the seedler, the Hellfire blade, the whatever, what nice edge, blah, blah, blah, blah, all for the terrarie.
No. Is it called the sword? Oh God, I can't remember. Terrarium or something like that for those like pinnacles because you need like 11 different swords to craft this one sword and you're just your, your Piggy Bank is filled with that because you're holding on to that. Or like quest fish, God forbid all the quest fish, even even the chests you're you're building like 50 different chests and you are going to fill most of those chests. You will have to have spare chests for for your spirit. Yeah.
It's just insane the amount of stuff you have to hold on to. Or just the amount of stuff you collect in an hour's time. You play it like collect everything you can in an hour and just put it in like just in a random ass bum fuck nowhere, but like there's chess set up and just see what you get. Yeah, just fucking Oh my God, that's so much garbage. Again, that 275th thousandth bat banner or zombie banner or the fucking floaty eyes. I don't care. Like it's both a good and a bad invent. It's good because there's a lot of space, but it's just bad just because of how the game is made.
Yes. Because then you're looking, it's like you find a chest, you're like, Oh my God, health potions. I need the, or maybe a health potion. But like, there's like a, like an iron skin potion, Like, Oh my God, an iron skin potion. I need that. But what am I going to take out of my inventory? Because you're 2 hours into like, you know, searching through the underground and you've already been to like 7 underground like a huts or whatever. That's a lot.
It really is. Especially when you get into hard mode and I have even more enemy types to deal with and even more drops to deal with. Oh my God. Yeah. So much just you see, Brandon, you'll, you'll, you'll see what I mean.
That's when I swear up and down, curse the game, and then die. Clear your inventory. You keep, you know, your 10 items at least and then like whatever else in your room. So let's say, let's say you have 2020 items on you. Actually the inventory might be 40 instead of 50. Nothing wrong. It might be 50 anyway. But let's say you clear your your your inventory and keep 20 total items in your inventory. As soon as you step foot outside, half of that is filled. Yeah. God. I love the game, the bits though, it's it's not hard to manage, it's just the sheer quantity makes it annoying.
Yeah, it's like the amount of starting you will have to do. Just a fishing task to keep your inventory clean. And yeah, you can use that like a that inventory lock or whatever it is item. But then like the one time that you want to pick up an item and there's like 50 other items on the floor with it, you're like great. Pick. Everything up lock. Yeah, I can see that annoying the hell out of me. No, no.
Yep, to this day I wish banners were like exponential. You're like, oh like you killed your 50th, now you're 100th, now you're 200th, now you're 500th. No, it's just every 50th you guys get any more? Anything else, Mark?
Personally, not really. Not that I can think of off the top of my head at least. What about the bottom of your head? Bottom of my head. I'll, I'll go checking. Brandon, You, you got anything vulnerable? God damn, it look like a bit.
So I mean, we're almost at time. We're about a minute before time. But yeah, I can. No, I, I, I haven't found anything at the bottom of my head. Sorry. I had to go down the steps, go check. Oh. No, you're good God. Damn it. If you're wondering what that clapping sound was, yes. It.
Was clapping in the background trying to mimic steps. Oh. OK, good. That that's what I hope that you were going to say. So yeah, I can. I can finish this off if you don't have anything, Ethan. Just one thing, yes, the clamp of my hands keeps alerting the car. I hate you. God, God damn it. All right, buckle in, kiddos. So probably out of everything that we've talked about, so my favorite inventory, the fucking pit boy. Pit Boy is fucking cool as shit. I don't care what anybody. Tells me that's such a neat inventory system.
Just so unique to follow itself. Yeah, like you've never. Been a fan of weight based inventories too much 'cause like they always just get full way too fast there. Yeah, no. I I agree with that. That's. I think that fits more in with the with the survival horror aspect. That and like, yeah, any Bethesda game, you're going to have that shit.
Yeah, true, but the like I thought they were Bethesda as in relation to Elder Scrolls. Yeah, I mean, that makes a lot of sense. Yeah, like the 'cause I know you can get more weight and all that shit, you know, as you progress, but no, I can see where it's annoying as fuck. Believe me, I I get you. You know, I I don't know. It was just such a unique take on, you know, OK, I need to get something out, you know, again, everybody hang on. I gotta look at my pit boy. Everybody freezes. I took a look at my wristwatch.
Yeah, you're over fucking overcompensating. Fucking watch and shit. Hold on, give me a second. Where did that come from? I need to pull out my smartwatch. Hang on, guys. I got to get my super sledge out. Yeah. All right, let's go. Or you just took a. Bunch of drinks we're going to. A writer camp You got to get him a power armor what let? Me take these like 50 pieces of fucking buff out real quick. Let me eat some squirrel bits. Hold on. Guys, I'm taking a lot of damage. Just give me a second.
All the stim packs this much and hustling Oh.
My God. Yeah, no, I, I honestly, it's like I said, it's unique. I will say yeah, it's pretty fucking comical. Like it, it really is, but I've always just had the the Pip boy just has a charm to it. I mean shit, I have a fucking replica from the TV show sitting next to me at the time. I was going to say, you have one in real life. Yeah, that you can wear. Isn't someone a can wherever you please? Yeah, it's like, hang on, I got to get my Magic deck out. Like it's. I don't know, it's just cool. I just your magic check just pops out like a neatly packaged cassette tape.
Yes, yeah, just a unique inventory screen and I haven't really seen anything that in my opinion tops that. Yeah. I think it's just something that if you're in the gaming world and you see you see a pit boy, you know what it is, you know what series it is. It's just that iconic.
And also like the the jumpsuits and ship like it, it is an iconic series. Now it has its issues. I will not defend that it it has problems, but I think that's what makes it have that charm to it. You know, when it's not completely breaking. I've had that too many goddamn times. I'm talking to you 76, you fuck. Please, I'd love you. Come back. You turn it away for me.
Well, yeah, no, that's that's last thing I've got if you guys have anything else. If not, I'll wrap up.
No, I think we're going to wrap up. Fortnite's inventory sucks ass. You get 5 slots. That's it. OK, I'm good. Well. That's because that's Fortnite. What did you expect? Yeah, it is a better reality, right? It's it's, it's basic that that's all I can say. I mean limited.
Yes it does. It is, like Mark said, a battle Royale. Yeah. Yes. All right, let's get this plugs going. What'd you? Say doesn't mean I can't be mad about it though. Oh, I mean, yeah, you can be mad, that's fine. I get mad every time I get fucking killed and danced on. I get mad every time I get mad all.
