Hello everybody. Welcome to Plug In for Player
Four. I am tonight's host Mark and I
am accompanied with Ethan and Brandon here.
How you guys doing today? Good.
I feel the exact same I did a week ago.
Oh well, that's sad anyways. That's all right.
Man that sucks bro. So hey guys, you're here bud.
Anyways, what have you guys been playing lately?
Sucks to suck. Sucks to suck.
Maybe you were. You weren't so ginger you'd be
able to have an immune system. Maybe.
You can't let me over here. I mean I've been playing more
secretive than mimic and definitely playing more
generation 0. Yeah, yeah.
I can't wait to make more progress on that game.
Oh my God. The insane amount of bullets
that we ran into already. I can't.
Believe I might have to drop the difficulty.
I can't guarantee I'll pray on the harder.
Pain all the way, man, Pain all the way.
Pissed me off too much taking 4 bullets and going down.
Meanwhile, you're like la Dee da, I'm in the truck.
I'm fine. I'm they don't shoot at me.
Because I'm their best friend. I'm an IT worker.
I know how the code works. Well.
Praise the omniscience this. Is a rant.
Worship the machine spirits. Binary one. 0010011001.
No, no, no. It's more like dial up.
Just get off. The phone I'm trying to talk to
a robot I'm. Trying to play my Neopets.
I'm trying to talk to my AI. Girlfriend in her native.
Tongue beep boop. Shut up mom.
She goes to a different discord. She goes to a different server.
This is definitely a turn, Jesus.
Goes to a different server. Sure, the wealthy billionaires
tell us that you know it's worth it, but I don't know.
Anyways, Brandon, what have you been playing recently?
God damn you, Ethan. We're playing this poor man.
This motherfucker, I know he turning red over there from
laughing so. She does his hair.
So yeah, for me, I've actually been playing some stuff on PCI,
know we've been playing Halo Infinite recently, me and you.
Mark Yeah, yeah. And.
Jack. But I bet RAID is so much fun.
Oh it is dude. God I soccer.
Yeah, for context, somebody on Halo Infinite used the Forge
tools to make essentially a Destiny raid in the in the Halo
engine, and it's totally free as long as the server host has both
the game mode and the custom map bookmarked.
Yeah, it is. It is totally something else.
But yeah, besides that, I'm actually, I'm the last boss for
Donkey Kong Bonanza, which has been kind of annoying, but it's
it's it's a fine boss. But a lot of my time recently,
when we're not playing anything, I've actually been working on my
island in Animal Crossing. OK.
Because the, I think it's, it's next week, the three-point O
update comes out for both the Switch and Switch to and then
the Switch to version also releases.
I'll be honest, for just context here, for me personally, the
switch to upgrade like it's, it's 5 bucks.
So I'm like, OK, fine, whatever. Really all you're getting with
that is a little bit of better resolution for the game.
And I think it's like 16 players online.
So you got like 16 people on your island at a time, which I'm
not really going to be taking advantage of because the people
I used to play Animal Crossing with, I, they, you know, doing
their own thing now. So I, you know, don't really
play with anybody anymore. And there's probably some other
stuff that I don't remember off the top of my head, but yeah, I
mean for for like 5 bucks, like you're getting, like I said, the
resolution. You're also just not remember
this. You're getting the another
upgrade for how much stuff you can store in like you're like
storage unit thing, which Jesus Christ, they bumped that fucker
up a lot. Oh my God.
But for like for five bucks, I'm not going to complain too much.
Should have been been free. Yeah, kinda.
Yeah, should have been. But I play the game enough, so
for me it was like, whatever. Plus, I like Animal Crossing, I
like my, I like my villagers, I like my fucking island and shit
and starting to decorate it and I stopped being a lazy fuck.
So yeah, really, that's, that's what I've really been playing
ever since I got the switch to. I've been trying to, like I
said, get through Donkey Kong and some like Mario Kart World
or whatever. I still prefer Mario Kart more
to, I want to say more to do, but kind of more to do.
And it's just, I don't know, I think just 8 is peak in that
regard. But that's just my opinion.
World isn't bad, but I, I, I guess I'm just a sucker for
Margaret Cart 8. But yeah, that's, that's what
I've been doing. What about you, Mark?
What have you been doing? About those trials.
That's right. Dude.
I fucking forgot about that, yeah.
Oh my God, I've been loving it. Dude, it's been.
So I'm so happy you, I am so happy you and I might have been
playing. Yeah.
It is so much fun. Dude it oh man, like so for so
Ethan we were stupid and we decided to try the last trial in
the game. Why are we just called out last
yes? Well, we that shit after Emma
explained how that enemy works, it makes sense.
But I got so irritated because I thought so.
The way the enemy works is even though you may be out of sight
of them after they've been chasing you, the enemy still
knows where you're at. Like you have to make sure they
don't know where you're at. And I didn't know that.
And Mark can contest to this. I got pissed because I thought I
was away from it. They could not see me and I was
hiding in a locker and the enemy knew exactly where I was.
I am mad because it's like what the fuck?
Like she's a fucking mannequin. You know, there's ways to tell
her apart from the others, but you've got to have like the
special X-ray glasses and shit and she's fast.
But I can't be too upset because like I said, that was the last
trial and that was the one of the trials that just came out.
You're really going to want to have yourself levelled up and
have better equipment before you try to do that.
We also were doing it the objectives ass backwards, so I
can't be too mad about it. But I don't know, it just still
was kind of irritating. But it's kind of what you get
from doing that trial when you weren't really supposed to.
But I think we've been having a lot of fun with the game and
with Miss Gooseberry. Oh.
God, she's so fucked, dude, Oh my God.
But you know, the game has been great.
Like, it's honestly been kind of nice to play it again.
Yeah. And actually get somewhere in
the game. Good man.
Some of them trials who they are fucked up.
I was having a good time making soup though.
Oh. God.
Soup. Yep, we were feeding, we were
feeding, we were feeding the children.
We were feeding soup the orphans and I was as I was pouring
bleach into the fucking thing. I was just like.
Yeah, man, got some bleach. Got somebody parts, you know,
hey, it's just, you know, chef's kiss.
It just works. It just works.
Oh, God, no. What?
What still fucking gets me. What was funny was the this is
definitely a fucking explicit episode, but we I'd thought it
was funny, Mark. We were like, go heave ho, heave
ho as we're sawing this guy's legs off.
Yeah. Guys like the guy is screaming,
you know, heave ho heave. Heave putting him through the
fever breaker. Oh, it was.
It was a saw. It was an actual like whole saw.
So you're like, oh, Ethan was fucked up.
It was just so. Funny, it was in the.
Background. And we're ho ho the.
Guy's a screaming, bloody murder.
We're just kind of doing a bit. It was so good.
Yeah, I, I can say this, if you're not into like if you
can't handle gore or just extremely bad, like just extreme
violence, just don't play Outlast if you can't handle it
because anybody who's squeamish, you are not going to have a good
time. Like it's just one of those
games. So just be aware if somebody
asks you to play Outlast, well, is you might want to do a little
bit of research. So but it's a great game.
It's honestly, it's challenging enough to where it's it's not as
annoying, but the puzzles and just finding stuff is a lot of
fun. It really is.
Yeah, yeah. So my hats off to was it Red
Barrels? I think that's the like an
developer I forget. Yeah, Red barrels, I think.
Something like that. Hats off to you.
You guys did a good job on that list.
Well, what do we have on the docket?
For today, well, today we're talking about game mechanics
that we do not like. Like it's a rage.
That's right, rage. I get to say anything and
everything. Hell yeah.
All right, who's up first for this shit?
No, what are you? Hey Braden, let's have you go
first this time. I don't think in the case that
you just don't like. OK, so one of them being you
like needing a certain amount of an item to progress.
So let's say like, like, I don't know, like like those like old
school and even like new school, like platformers and whatnot
that like let's say like Mario for instance, you needed like a
certain amount of stars to progress to like the next World
or, or whatnot. Like I guess I wouldn't say I
necessarily hate it. It's just kind of annoying
because I got to go back and through maybe some levels I
didn't, you know, particularly like.
Yeah, you got to do a lot of backtracking.
Yeah. And like, I understand that, you
know, that that is just, that is just how it is.
But it was just, I don't know, like I don't, like I said, I
don't want to say I hate it, but I just don't like it.
Like, I want to progress, move on, get going with the game, you
know, instead of having to play through a level multiple times
before I can actually, you know, start progressing.
I don't know, it's just something I just never was
really into. But anybody else who is AI mean,
more power to you. But I was never really a big fan
of that. Yeah.
I guess I could understand like it was kind of needed like let's
say back then, but like now I don't know, I I feel like it
could be kind of just a game could be done with it and just
let them progress. But like I said, to each their
own. It's just something I don't
really like. Fair, fair.
Yes, Sir, if you got something. I do, but it's not gaming
related like video game related, if that's cool.
Yeah, if not, OK. If not, I was going to say.
If not, I'll figure something else out.
But I am an avid Magic player, as I have said I think multiple
times in this podcast. If not, I'm an avid Magic
player. Wow, A Magic as in Magic the
Gathering? It's a card game if you don't
know, and I play a format that instead of 1V1, it's 4 player
free for all called Commander. Yeah, I'm not going to get too
much into it, but basically you, you start off, well everybody
start us off with 40 life. It's kind of a lot, but there's
this thing called commander damage in which if you take 21
commander damage from a specific card, you lose the game.
That's to prevent life decks from, you know, you having 1000
health and you have to beat down the 1000 health.
If you take 21, doesn't matter if you have a two health or
1000, you're dead, you're out of the game.
There's this thing, it has multiple names, but poison
counters. If you take 10, you lose the
game. Yes.
This was made for standard back because standard only has 20
health, so they're like oh half that, Sure.
Well, a lot of a lot of decks that run poison counters run
proliferate, which you know, increases a counter on anything
by one of your choosing. So even if nothing, doesn't
matter if you block the creature with infect, which will give you
poison. Doesn't matter if you block the
creature with toxic, which will give you poison counters, but
different from infect. If you block a creature with,
oh, I think there's a three one, I think it's called blight.
I could be wrong. You get poisoned, but then a
person casts a spell. It's not creature damage, It's a
spell, but you can't counter it. All of a sudden everyone has a
poison counter. You proliferate that nine times,
you're going to lose. But I don't mind.
In fact, I don't, but it's when you add proliferate is when I'm
like, all right, we need this. This is going to be a problem.
This is going to be a very big problem.
It's bullshit is like it's not. Fair.
It's the only mechanic in the If you run proliferate, cool.
If you run poison, cool. If you run poison, proliferate.
Fuck you. I have no problem saying I will
gladly sit out of this game. Yeah, I won't tell them to put
their deck away. It's their deck.
They made it. They can play it.
I I'm not going to, you know, tell them they're an asshole for
making it because some people think that other mechanics are
stupid, which is fair. Some people don't like mail,
which you take your card from your library, put in your
graveyard. If you have no cards to draw,
you lose. That's that.
That's the gist of mailing. That's fair.
Some people just don't like, I mean, it's dumb, but you know.
Fair. You don't have to like anything.
It's a social game with commander.
It's just affect me personally like that.
I can get knocked out of the game so fast and I might not be
in the colors to have a say in it.
Yes. Or to take them out fast enough
to stop me from dying is what I find stupid.
Yeah, they can be definitely annoying.
Like I I don't mind commander damage, 21 is a lot.
And you can't proliferate commander damage either.
You can make a commander bigger, sure, but you can't proliferate
the damage that you've already taken.
Unlike poison I mean. But my friend has a deck that's
all about boys encounters like he has.
He has a death touch on the field.
You're taking poison, which, fine, I don't care because it's
like it's a super aggro deck and it kills me really fast before I
have a chance to do anything. But it's the fact that doesn't
proliferate. It does one thing and it picks
that thing and it does it well. Yeah.
And plus you can turn it off by killing the commander, whatever.
But anyway, that's that's my gripe with Magic the gathering
my out of out of the the rise of right now, 175 keywords.
It's a way to shorten text. There's like 3 that give poison.
That's how many keywords are in magic.
There's a lot and it's like there's four more every set or
something stupid. Yep, and like I'd play a little
bit of magic myself too. I'm not as versed in it as Ethan
is, but. No, no, none of it was near.
Last time you played Magic you like you actually played Magic.
It was the pre release. I think it was like the first
time we played it in real life too.
The either drift pre release. Yeah, we were like I, I don't, I
don't know what happened. Like now I'm starting to like
kind of like I'm getting an itch back.
It's been kind of on my mind now again.
Yeah, have you ever do Perilous again?
Like I I know you're competitive and that's fine.
Just going with the mindset of this is for fun, play to win,
but built for fun. Yeah, I had to definitely like I
like yes, I'm competitive to a certain point, but with right, I
think the only thing is the the last person I played before I I
got, you know, I I lost that guy just killed all motivation for
me. Just I mean, there can be people
like that whether, whether they don't know like how to read the
room, whether they are just, you know, an asshole.
That's not a pot, that's a possibility.
But like, yeah, I'm not sure what happened, but it it can
happen. Trust me.
I've had I've had commander Knights be killed because of
people. Yeah, and that's that and I I
should have not let it get to me the to this point of like I put
magic down for a bit because I'm like, you know, what the fuck's
the point? But it just take it killed my
motivation to play and I shouldn't have let it do that.
I've. Been trying to hype you up since
then. I'm like, come on, Brian, come
on, come on, come on. I know you have and I definitely
appreciate that a lot more than you probably know.
Oh, I I know for a fact 'cause like even even when he told me
no, like I've heard stories online of like, man, I kept
telling my friends no and they stopped inviting me.
Why is that? I was like, but I'm just like
come on Brad, come on, come on, come on, Brad, come on.
No matter how many times you told me no, come on.
And I like I appreciate that because it starts to like kind
of tell me like, you know, I should probably go out, you
know, socialize and whatever, like for like people, the people
listening, having anxiety sucks, especially social anxiety.
That's what can sometimes kill a lot of things for me because I'm
so anxious about like everybody is hates me, even though they
don't say that right now. But you get you get into that
spiraling bullshit in your head that.
I've had that happen within the friend group where I'm just
like, oh man, they're all playing hell divers.
They don't want me in the in the in the in the discord party
right now. You know, I'll just leave them
alone and. That's.
I don't want them to hate me because I'm bothering them while
they're playing their game. And like, you know that.
Kind of stupid shit. It's like, no, they're your
friends. Yeah, and like I, I, I'm just,
I've always, I, I've been that way for such a long time.
Obviously I've, you know, have gotten help for it and shit like
that and it has gotten better, but it's not where I want it to
be. I can understand that.
But I do like playing Magic, even if I'm not that great at
it. I've had my games where it's
been fine, but I guess I just don't want to look dumb, you
know? Like, you know, he doesn't know
how to play this correctly or you, you know, that kind of
shit. Brandon, I'm still learning
Magic and that is hard to say. There are 50,000 cards in Magic.
I'm not going to know every single interaction.
I'm not going to know whatever single card does.
Not with that attitude. Oh, trust me, I cram my brain
with information and magic and I'm still learning shit about
magic. Like this is boring.
Recent, like recent sets that are coming out or or like new
cards, whatever. Like this is just like older
interactions. If you really want to get down
into it, there's this thing called layers.
I will explode your brain. Oh.
Yeah, that's all. God, yeah, it's, it's a lot.
So yeah, don't don't feel dumb for getting something wrong.
I have definitely built a like a deck recently where I'm just so
excited to play it where I forget every single trigger and
I'm like, I don't care. I'm having the time of my life
just slamming cardboard down and like.
Yeah, like a little toddler playing with his cards.
Don't worry, everyone looks stupid at some point.
And like, it also doesn't help that I like no matter what game
I play, like I relish on the fact that I'm new to this.
Yeah. I'm not going to be new forever,
so I'm going to take the joy that I have of making mistakes.
I'm going to take the joy that I have of being fucking stupid.
You know, that is a good way of thinking about that.
Yeah, you're only new. Once that's true, you're only
new once. And once you know how,
everything goes. That's.
Yeah. Exactly like because I can't
unforget Security breach and I love that game as much as I wish
I could so. You can go through it again.
Yeah. Yeah.
Plus, man, I got that Sonic. Dick, I wouldn't say I would
unwish to learn. Matt, sorry.
I would wish to unlearn Magic because I'm still learning, as
I've told you. Yeah, 50,000 cards, the amount
of interactions. Hell, there's a judge around us.
He gets questions weekly. Yeah, it's.
There's a reason Magic the Gathering rules are so dense.
Like. Looking up a video or something
like Oh yeah like why doesn't this interaction work this way
Oh because of rule seven O 2 point.
Sorry, seven O 2 C .40 is like. Section 50, you know, Yeah.
No, I've magic. Like I said, I'm, I, I want to,
I want to get back into it. Now I'm getting that itch again.
And I've always got to like remind myself because my brother
tells me this too. He's like the end of the day,
it's a card game. You're supposed to have fun.
If you're not having fun, what's the point?
Right now I've had my first year where I just leave my local game
store that like after two games I'm like, this sucks, I'd rather
be home, Yeah. Yeah, I.
Need to get away from here. That's why I'm I'm happy that
you said you were doing, doing this on Saturday or next
Saturday. Yeah, I'm going to bring my
decks and. Hell yeah.
We're going to. We're going to do this.
I want to. I'm not sure how many people
were there are are sorry are going to be there.
Yeah, but on my plan Saturday, because I got like from 4:00 PM
onwards, even though they close at 5:00, it doesn't whatever.
I just reserved the room just so I can have it at four.
And like also it's one of the bigger rooms too.
So if they're how maybe 6 people come in, I don't know, then we
have more space for more people. Sweet.
OK. Well, Mark, sorry, we were
taking up a little time there. Yeah, I.
Didn't mean to go right ahead. I didn't mean to worry.
I know we're primarily a, you know, a video game podcast, but
you know, Magic is kind of one of my no.
No, no, go for it. I'm not going to stop you guys.
This is a gaming podcast. It doesn't have to be
necessarily video games. No, but.
Board games, too, you know. Just Speaking of Terraria, I
think it. Was.
Fun the the February 14th so so expect to play that Terraria
board game. Oh dude it's been like 2 years
or so getting the fucking mail updates, e-mail updates.
Oh I'm so excited. I'm so excited to play a
Terraria board game. Yes.
We're going to have to take a game night just to exclusively
play that. Fuck yeah.
Anywhere that's you know, infect and or poison, you know doesn't
matter in Magic. And that is understandable.
With proliferate, Mr. Good word. With proliferate.
With cheese, Mr. Good Word with cheese.
Mr. Mark, what do you got for us?
Oh, I I've got one that irks me, and that is games that when you
reach a certain point in say like a story, you can't go back
and replay. You get caught into the fucking
loop where you can only just finish the game.
I've to give you an example. I've done that with BioShock
Infinite. Like there was a game where I'm
just like, because, because there's that, there's that one
crating like, oh, you need a key.
So you play a little further. Eventually, you know, you dig
around, you find a little key, you're like, oh, wait, the key
goes to that crate. I need to go back to that
office. But then like, I forgot, ADHDI
forgot about it. And then it kind of pulled me
out of my mind, gone forever. And then like zone changed.
I'm like, wait. No, I've been there.
Or. The, the, the big pet peeve I
have from it is Assassin's Creed Brotherhood does it And it's
not, it's not like you really think that much about it because
when I was younger I was like, oh, it's, it's a open world,
sort of like exploration of the city type game.
And like I'll just finish everything else that I still
have left to do after I finished the campaign.
No, what happens is that after you reach a certain mission
where you get the Apple of Eden, it just you can only ever do the
last couple of missions. Like even if you were to exit
the game and load it back up, you will only ever do the last
couple of missions. OK, but like similar brain I I'm
Achievement Hunter Mister man right here.
Yeah. Security Breach had two
missables in the entire game. Granted, my first playthrough I
found one of them, but the other one is in the daycare and this
was like again, that first playthrough before I knew that
there was like a missable in there or like to explore around
there. Because it's so early on in the
game you you wouldn't expect there to be a missable in there,
but once you leave the daycare you can't go back in.
Yes. So I have to replay the whole.
Game God, yeah. I mean, granted, it wasn't bad
because it was security breach kind of fun, but still, it's
just like you the the the fact that you have to restart the
game if you want to see that place or like like you said with
Assassin's Creed yeah, even if you just want to go back to see
the area, you have to replay the game or just to like explore or
like you said, see what you missed out on the first time
around. You just can't go back the.
Point of. Yeah, it sucks worse.
Like for example going back to Bioshock when you don't know
that you can't return. It's just, it's just an annoying
thing, honestly. Like you can't tell me there's
no way for you to loop back into the open world.
Right. Like Nope, you're stuck here.
I have a similar like, well I don't want to say similar but
like Fallout New Vegas. You if you go.
And complete the game. So you complete the story, the
game ends. And that's it.
Like if you haven't. Saved.
Before that, that's it, can't go.
Back can't do anything. And that I'm so happy I found
out about that from a buddy of mine.
So I am not going to finish the game because I, I mean like I
could if I wanted to just make another save, but I'm like, you
know what, Nah, I'm just going to go do everything I want to
do. You know.
Yeah. Oh yeah, then point of no
return. That shit sucks.
Yeah, I didn't even. Think about that.
That's a. Really good one and then the
game literally doesn't tell you. Yeah, it.
Just ends and. You're like, well, I can't do
anything now. I had to replay the entire game
and try to do it again. Yes, all right, who's got
another one? I kind of did Taco for a.
While so Brandon, you want to take a little bit, yes.
So this is one that I'm this is. Definitely one for.
Sure that I know all all of us fucking hate.
Anything that is an instant. Kill.
I feel like it. Depends on the.
Scenario for me. You're playing a parkour game
where you die into a death pit. That's fair.
Because, well, that makes sense. So I guess specifically for me,
when boss fights have a certain mechanic that you don't dodge a
perfectly, you're. Fucked.
Oh yeah, that yeah. Yeah, like.
It I mean, I get it, it's a boss, but like then you got to
redo the entire fight I guess depending on the game.
But one in particular I've talked about on the podcast
previously was the the final boss for Sonic Superstars.
Now this is more specifically. Towards the final boss for Trip.
Now. I have not myself have played
this boss fight. I've the.
The one episode of the podcast. Will will speak for itself, but
Superstars is a good game. If the bosses weren't there,
the. Bosses were annoying as.
Shit they took forever to beat I just I did not the boss fights
they butchered and that sucks because of a Sonic game.
I'm like what the fuck? The bosses are what make the
game it like that. Just the ones.
But. This one in particular.
You're fighting Fang and. He.
Instead of being I think a big robot like Egg Man, I think he's
on some type of like, well, I guess it's a similar like robot
or whatever the fuck it is. But there's a a clapping
mechanic that it does or a smacking move that if it touches
you at all, you're dead. Doesn't matter how many rings
you have, nothing. It is instant kill and it is
kind of hard to avoid. And watching that boss fight,
I'm like, you know what? I've already gotten annoyed with
this game once. I'm not doing it again.
I. The final boss for.
Sonic like it's not it's not great.
It's not it's it's super frustrating.
There's multiple parts that you have to do, and if you die in
any of those parts, you got to do the entire fight over I no,
I'm good. Yeah, anything that's just, you
know. With with boss fights, if
they're if there's a. Mechanic that kills.
You when one hit, I'm probably going to stop playing.
Yeah, it's like you. Don't need to have these fucking
instant kills to prolong the fight, yeah.
That just that that. Just to me, that's lazy and it's
just something I just, I just won't play like unless it's
like, you know, like Dark Souls, like you know what you're
getting yourself into fine. But for us fucking.
Sonic game. God damn.
Like really? And we?
Don't even get me started with the.
Multiplayer of that game. Jesus Christ, somebody was
smoking crack, that was. Yeah, I.
Just insta kill mechanics with, at least for me with bosses, I
know there's like instant, I know there's instant kill
mechanics and just non boss stuff, but Oh yeah.
Most of those I. Don't think I've had an issue.
With because I just know that, you know, I crap, I fucked up.
Let me try again. But doesn't mean that like it
doesn't. It doesn't annoy me, but with
boss fights when it's not needed, that could be very
irritating. But that's just my opinion.
Pretty good, pretty good. Makes us man.
Make us go. All.
Right. You got another one.
Mr. Ethan, I got a. Little one, I'm not sure how you
guys feel, but this is like personal it's.
I've talked about it before. As an enemy type.
And that's the fucking bum rush. Explode.
Yes, yeah, it's. Just so.
Overdone and I don't know what it is in comparison to like the
tank, the arranged whatever like the spitter like the like the
fucking bum rush exploders just feel I think it's because.
They literally get. Like just so right up your ass
so silently and then hiss and explode or whatever.
Like however they get up to you or whatever's noise they make
and. Just take out.
Half your health bar, yes. It just feels.
So cheap. And kind of, to an extent,
ankle. Biters as well, like just a
little like mini enemies that that nibble on your fucking
ankles doing tickle damage but they take one hit to kill even
though there's ten of them surrounding you and you can't do
anything about it. They can.
They can be one in the same but. It just depends.
It's just they, they piss me off.
So much because like, I have better things to do and.
The worry about these. Shits little ankle biters, the
ankle biters or the. Exploders.
Like I have better because they both die in one hit.
More than likely, yes. Because it's supposed to be
like, big. Damage and or you know, tiny
damage, but a lot of them like single hit but you know they
shatter like glass because. Why exactly?
Like I don't mind an. Exploder if it like actually
like poses a challenge or a threat to me, I was like, oh, I
actually have to like think about this, but no, I was just
what I have to like shoot it once and make all right.
Back to the, back to the. Basic enemy which is even more
of a threat than this fucking exploder.
It's just put it back in the oven.
Yeah, any more time? Clearly.
Don't. Just slap it in there.
Just slap it in there and then again, you can say that about
the tank or the ranged or. Whatever other special like the
the. Grabber drags you off.
And the bum fuck. Nowhere.
Your teammates have to be like, oh, I got you, I got you, yes.
I think it's because just everything.
Else requires strategy like actually.
Teamwork considered. Up shoot the guy.
Already doing that with the basic enemies.
Just shoot the guy. Are we good?
That's kind of like. About vermin died actually.
Is every special makes you think yes.
Yeah, there's explosive enemies, but you know.
It's it's the the globe, a deer, whatever.
He just fights from range, so I was like, ah, we got to stay out
of that area so I don't cough a lung.
But yeah, those fucking exploders.
I'm already thinking of the aprocalyptic ones and.
It's hard to pissing me off. Now the the the exploders aren't
that bad to me personally, it's the ones that grab you and just
bring you into them. I don't mind grabbers.
I'm sure everybody has their like, oh, pick the Left 4 dead
special that you know you hate there's.
One of those. For everybody.
Oh, for sure. God.
That's kind. Of like all I really had for
anything else. If you I mean if you guys got
more, feel free. Well, I've got 1 mark.
If you don't, yeah, go ahead. OK.
So my last one, unless I can think of another one, there was
so anything that's like a a timer mechanic because like
anxiety doesn't pair well with that.
So the next game we play. Together Brandon for the YouTube
is going to be keep talking and nobody explores unless you want
to see me. Go into a full blown panic
attack, no. So, I mean, we were.
Doing We were doing well in that.
Room and outlet, the evidence, yeah, it's.
God, that's still man I I hate those like but this is.
In. In one of the one of the.
Matches, you have to find you. You have to find evidence and
destroy evidence. And what happens is when you go
to pick it up, you have a countdown timer starting.
You have to look around the room and figure out what the password
to the box is otherwise. Otherwise it.
Shocks you. And let's off a loud buzzer that
attracts all the nearby enemies to you.
But for me? These.
Timers. There's one in particular.
So there is. A So in was it Resinville
outbreak the missions that you play are short like shorter, but
there is a virus mechanic so. If you get attacked.
Bit anything your your virus percentage will start climbing.
There is no way to stop this unless or like stop it at all.
But I think if you take like herbs or anything, I think it
like it decreases the, IT decreases the amount.
Of the virus. That you currently have or it
slows it down. I don't remember but and this is
a hot. Take.
I didn't. Like that 'cause.
Now it's it's forcing. Me to then try to get through
this as fast as possible 'cause once that.
Virus counter hits 100. Percent your debt.
That's it. Now I may have.
Not given outbreak. Enough like enough chance to
play. But that was.
Just something that in. My opinion turned me off to it.
Like I said, the the the the missions.
You play 'cause you can play different characters.
They're not like a like super long missions, but if you die.
I think you have to start. You have to start it over I
think. So it it it just it.
I don't know, Outbreak for me was just something that I really
just couldn't get into. Now, I know a lot of people love
the Outbreak series and that's perfectly fine.
Like they're not bad games by any means.
It's just, I don't like that mechanic.
I like taking my time going through the levels and finding
stuff because I mean, there's puzzles you've got to solve and
whatnot. And you know, and when you have
this timer breathing down your neck to me, I just, I don't like
it. It's not a mechanic I.
Inherently hate, it's just. I, I I I don't know.
I I. Wish there was like a like a
mode that you can play where you can go through the game without
that. But then again, it may have not
worked out great that way. I mean, I, I can kind of get
that. Like there was a there was a
mechanic like that in Roboquest. Very fun game by the way.
But it it was, granted, it was for a very specific thing, but
until you figure out how this aerial works, you're just going
to wipe and there's nothing you can do it, but you can't turn
around. You have to go through this
area. And again, you are just.
Going to wipe so I I can understand why the time mechanic
is kind of stupid or? Especially like, oh, you have
to. Solve a puzzle like for example
I think escape simulator. You have to solve the puzzle
within. An amount of time and if you
don't, Oh well, it's gone. Like it's to the point where I'm
just like, I got so anxiety filled that it wasn't going to
solve the puzzle that like the soonest possible chance that I
got stuck. I looked up what the solution
was to like that part. Yeah, yeah.
I just I don't like. Mechanics like that that just
it's, you know, it's it's a puzzle like that now you let it
be yeah, let it be a part like if I.
If I want to take my time exploring a lot of Dali a
puzzle, yes, just let. Me.
Let me. Explore the puzzle, yes.
Because that's. Kind of different that's.
Different. Yes, depending on the context.
Yes. Because like.
Again, Resident Evil does that with some of their games where
the the boss has like a like a time limit.
I think it was the original game for like I think it's 2 minutes
or or something like that, I forget.
But it's like so much time you have to fight this boss because
the boss goes down pretty fast. Yeah, I don't know it.
Was just, like I said, a. Mechanic that I'm not super
happy with. Maybe at some point maybe I'll
get over it and and try to play Outbreak is like I said, a lot
of people love Outbreak and that's fine.
The stories are great for the characters.
You know, being able to see everyday.
People trying to get out of Raccoon City like Leon and
Claire did. It's really.
Cool and even the. Upcoming Resident Evil Requiem.
One of the survivors. Alyssa Ashcroft is a good one.
Is the mother of Grace Ashcroft that you play in the new
Resident Evil? It's kind of like a call back to
them. Which is nice I I.
I really like that. But yeah, maybe one of these
days I'll try. To pick it up again.
It's just I, I just can't get past the like, oh shit, I need
to figure this out quick, you know, I mean.
I on a similar vein, I got another one if if that's cool,
if we have time for it. Yeah, we.
Got time chase sequences? In games I've.
Never really. I've never really liked chase
sequences because like often, oftentimes I'm not you're going
to hit a point or just within the chase sequence, there's like
basically a, what is it called? A timed event, whether it's an.
Actually timed event or not, like, oh, you have 3 seconds to
go to the left, hit the lever and come back And so you can
open up the pathway and go across the catwalk or whatever.
Like there's just there's always that hidden timer and they
always do a damn find of job of making you feel like you have
two seconds before you're dead. Yes, like that, that.
Exact thing happened in secret by mimic.
What was it? Jackie was chasing me and I'm
just like, what do I do? Because like there was a lever
and like, of course that was kind of the tutorial heavy
quotation marks, like right next to the.
Door that I had to. Flip to open and you have to
follow the wire with your eyes to find the lever to hit so you
can continue onwards. I didn't do that because I just
thought oh open the door, got it.
What? Am I doing now?
And by the time I, you know, realized what was happening, I
couldn't have turned around fast enough, walked towards the enemy
to get the lever and turn back around, and then I had to
restart the whole thing over again.
That's what I hate. The most?
Is that if you mess up, you did chase sequence once you're
restarting. Oftentimes it's putting you
smack dab where the enemy. Is chasing you.
It's already triggered, it's already happening.
So like you don't even get a break.
Like you died. Like oh man, like that was
stupid. Let me put the controller down
while I get a break. Nope, the enemy's right behind
her, chasing you again. Trial and error.
And some. Sometimes it's going minutes
too, yes. And you're just like just.
Fucking and all, all the meanwhile, like in the
background or whatever, like shut up with the music.
Somebody needs somebody. Hugs fucking Jackie shut.
Up. I'm done.
Wow. You've changed it.
Wow. Shut up.
I'm done. Yeah, who wants?
You. Oh, God, shut up.
Yeah. Yeah, the the chase sequence
stuff like I can understand where you're coming from with
that. It really depends on mechanics.
Yeah, and just the. The trial and error of it that
that can get a little irritating 'cause you have.
To you have like and. I mean, I guess you know, it
works in a sense 'cause you're, you're learning how it how it's
working. But when I have to repeatedly.
Die in. Order to understand how
something is working. I'm eventually going to start to
get fucking annoyed exactly because like.
You can't even stop to like, be like, OK, what am I doing wrong?
You just have to be like, I'm done, I'm done, I'm dead.
Yeah, that's it. It's over.
It's it's. Just one of those things that if
it's done right, then it's fine, but then if it's done the way
that like majority of these games do it, it's always the and
like you. You find out what.
To do, but it's too late, yeah. And then you got to do.
Everything over. Again, And it's like you just
want to get a move on because you want to, you know, play
more. You don't want to be stuck on
the same fucking thing. Yeah.
Like I, I get it. That's definitely.
Irritating yourself? Yes it is, but not as.
Irritating as. Magic cards that are foiled that
fucking do their stupid. Pringle.
Yeah, we like Pringles. God fuck it.
Damn it, I'm looking at this. Card right now it's like
Pringle. Motherfucker, do I bend now?
I got I got imposter syndrome. Yes, the Spider Man meme still
in its original packaging. Yes, it's a promo and it has
like the ever slightest Pringle to it.
Do the foils used to? Be so much worse.
Yeah, they. Have gotten.
Better but quote. UN quote.
It depends. On factory conditions really
compared to home conditions? Yep.
Yeah, I won't buy them if I can help it anymore.
Because I don't want to like, be like, oh, I know a card that is
in my deck because it's right at the top and there's no cards to
weigh it down. And so it's pringling upwards on
the sides. Great.
Yeah, 'cause like that. I don't want to cheat.
Well, I mean like that, but. Then also sometimes these
fucking Pringles start like these foils start to Pringle
other cards. I've had that.
It's. Very slight.
But I've noticed that if enough. Time is passed.
The these Pringle cards will start pringling the non foils
that I have. Huh, I've never noticed that.
It's fucking weird. But the the good thing is the
normal cards just go back. Yeah.
Now that being said, it kind of takes a little while so and even
then. It it it's.
Can sometimes be hard to tell but I've noticed some cards have
done that but not a lot. So it's it's pretty, yeah.
I mean there is this. Thing you can get called a
humidity box and this is going to sound funny because it is,
but it's genuinely true. So I heard 69% humidity is the
best for magic cards if you get a humidity box.
OK. Yeah, I think.
I've heard of those. Yeah.
I think Patrick was talking about those probably.
Or if you. Take like a silicon gel packet.
You can actually help get moisture out of your your deck
boxes, but. That's.
That makes sense. It's.
It'll work or it won't. It's it's just one of.
Those. Things and we are at time mark,
just so you know, no, we are. Oh shit.
Yeah. Well, yeah, we had to do the
heavy lifting for you. I'm fine after the episode.
Hey, you know. What if?
You guys won the time. Talking magic I'm not.
Going to stop you. It's it's interesting to hear
what you guys have to say about it.
I'm from somebody that's not part of magic.
Is that great game? Yes.
Very great, very great. My mom wasn't doing it.
God. Damn it.
Oh, then I. Guess, I guess that's.
It. Guys want me to go ahead and
round us out, put in our plugs, yeah, before fucking Ethan.
Dies over this motherfucker, God damn it.
OK. He's always dying of.
Something isn't he? Anyways, Yep, this has been
