Welcome to Plug in for Player 4. I'm your host, Brandon, and
these knuckleheads over here, who are you?
I'm a knucklehead. I'm a head knuckle.
Yeah, sometimes I'm a father. Oh my God, I'm Ethan, you're
gracious hosted of this today's episode.
I I am Mark. Motherfucker, I'm executive now.
I'm the. Executive, you're businessman,
Brandon. The.
Alliteration, I'm executive Ethan.
I'm shutting this down. Right.
I, I am CEO Mark and I say we keep going.
I agree. I don't have any complaints, OK.
Well, what have we been doing, gentlemen?
I hope no more playthroughs of Secret of the Mimic.
He's going to be on his 10th watch.
I've done too many. And 20.
I just need one more achievement, which is actually 2
achievements because the last achievement to get is getting
all other achievements, which makes no sense.
If you're an achievement on, you're going to get that
achievement anyway just by getting all the achievements.
Wow, wow, that's my rant. No, fucking all other
achievement achievements are fucking stupid.
It it they are it. It's dumb.
Like getting achievement for getting all achievements.
It's like I got them anyway. Why?
Why told me that I've gotten all of them when I already got all
of? Them.
Yeah, it's fucking stupid. Oh my God, it's like, it's like
those games that give you an achievement for opening the
game, which is vastly more rare. You actually took the time to
play your game. Use an achievement.
There was funny, there was a game that I played where there
was 2 achievements. Open the game.
Beat the game. It's pretty fucking funny.
It was like some random $2.00 indie game, but it was.
Really fucking. Funny.
Yeah, No that. Was the two.
Open the game. Beat the game.
Well, all right, Well, I guess I'll put out here your boy.
His tooth is fixed. Fixed and he's got a nice grill
and. My teeth would be.
Fucked. Not Brandon.
There's still some outstanding issues but nothing nothing too
bad getting those fixed in like 2 weeks.
He did it. But yeah, previous episode,
yeah, I was using a floss thing and a piece of my teeth came
out. That was fun.
Yeah, his tooth dismantled itself.
So. Yeah, don't worry, we're on it.
We used some Kitsugi to, you know, put some liquid gold in
there and fixed it right up. Yeah, he's good as new.
He's got his luck big. I will say though, the entire
experience was actually quite nice.
My my dentist, she so let me back up.
So the the room I'm in, it's a new place and he gave my fucking
TV in front of the end. Shit man with a fireplace.
You know, I'm sitting here in the chair, like, man, I feel
like I'm fucking king. What?
It's not one of those kids when where they play a movie.
Are they working on your teeth? That would be that that
actually. They just they just 24/7 they
have a Yule log playing on the TV.
But not I like, this is the first time in a while that I
like, I actually really do like my dentist.
Yeah, 'cause when she was working on that tooth, you know,
I'm all numbed up and shit. I'm like, you know, you should
have seen when I came home, that shit was funny.
So, yeah, I mean, I couldn't feel nothing.
And I guess when I'm laying in the the chair, I guess I was
when she was working on the tooth, I was like going to the
left. She's on my right.
And you know, it's she was funny.
She's like, come on, Brandon, I know you want to get far away
from the dentist as possible, but come on.
Yeah, I'm not going to let you do.
That OK, but like dentists are like really fucking funny
because like there, there are times where they they're just
like, So what do you do for an occupation?
Like, you know, they have their hands in your mouth is like, do
I answer this or do I just stay silently?
No, it's, but what was funny is I was trying not to laugh
because she is literally grinding my tooth down right now
to get the, you know, filling it.
Yeah. Oh God, you know.
Takes your head like, straps it down.
It just started to turn the clock record and holy shit.
But no, it was just it it that's what kind of sealed the deal for
me. I'm like, OK, I really.
Like it, you know. I I like coming here now.
And also which thank God getting a cleaning and fillings, they do
it in the same appointment. OK, but cleanings are nice.
Cleanings are nice and I am looking forward to that.
I am going to be in some discomfort because it has been
like five years, but. That was me and my teeth felt
amazing. Like I could I could feel the
spaces in between my like teeth. Yep dude.
And it feels nice. Oh.
Hell yeah. When I finally got dental
insurance going to when we were on the UH project, it had been
10 years since I had been to a dentist.
Yeah, I think it was wonderful. I think we.
Talked about this on the previous episode, but like, it
took me like like 6 or 8 years or something stupid yeah for me
to get on my teeth. I'm like, get healthy teeth,
guys. Healthy teeth, Come on.
You. Need.
You're shiny teeth and. You're not.
You're not 16 and invincible anymore.
No. Oh God.
No like that. Unless some of you are.
Not like you're the health of your mouth is as important as
your your body. Yep.
You know. And I'm because I know next
steps. I have these two wisdom teeth
that I'm thinking about having. Just have them take them out.
It's actually not going to be too bad.
Are they giving you problems? So not really, no, but I, I
don't know about this one up here.
It's kind of funky and this one down here, I actually don't
think it it pushed through the gum all the way.
So this one, what they do, I've been told it's literally as
simple as put like like open the gum up and yeah.
Yeah, it comes. Right out.
Oh, like, Oh yeah, just a. Tooth.
Yeah. Oh.
Yeah, it just. It comes right out.
Yeah, 'cause it's, it's not moving.
Yeah, it's not really sitting in anything, so it just comes right
out in pain. Funny enough, I only have one
wisdom tooth. Yes, he's.
Not very wise. Yeah, well, no.
Wonder you're never mind. So.
Oh no, actually, that is that is a thing.
Some people, yeah, they don't have them at all.
Yeah. I mean, I asked my like dentist
and when I went back for the first time, I'm like, so how are
my wisdom teeth doing? I'm like, dude, they grew in
fine. I'm like flaw.
Yeah, 'cause like sometimes with my bottom teeth, it feels like
my jaw is like pushing inwards on itself.
I'm like, not like, like, and I'm like, is it gonna snap?
But no, it's just like, you know, probably something like
inflammation going on down there.
I'm like, oh, like, you know, if I'm not taking care of my teeth.
Like I know my last dentist told me like this one up here is
fine. Like it's not bothering me, so
why take it out? Like until it actually does
something, which at this point, you know, I'm almost 30.
This doesn't usually you'll have problems I think somewhere in
your 20s if they if they grow in wrong.
I've heard like somewhere doing like, you know, could be like
16, could be like I think 26 or something like that.
Yeah, I, I have not had issues. Like I said, these two, they
need to come out and they're going to be easy as fuck.
Yeah. But this one down here I can't
have removed. Yeah.
The reason being is I think I've told you guys this but as a kid
I had AI had a molar that cracked in half.
Yeah, I remember you told me. And they had to remove the
entire tooth, but my wisdom tooth took that spot.
So it's like having a free tooth.
Fair enough. So.
That's why probably why this one didn't go all the way in is
because there was just too much space in my mouth.
You're talking about an entire molar gone, you know, but also
probably helped me in the long run where it doesn't hurt right
now or has not hurt at all. So, but being responsible, I'm
going to talk to my dentist, be like, hey, I want to get these
two out, you know, just to get them done.
No. No, you just reminded me of like
when I was in middle school and I had to get braces.
My, my orthodontist was like, all right, we have two options,
remove some teeth to make space. And I'm like, God, no, I don't
remember. I don't remember what the other
option was, but I was probably just like, you know, just give
it time and like, you know, like use braces and whatnot.
But I'm just like, I'm like thinking about how like fuck no,
you're not removing my teeth and my mom's like, no, we're not
We're. Not thank God.
Like I know with with me, which is more of a cosmetic thing and
I don't really fucking care at this point.
I got a tooth here and a baby tooth still here.
So it's, I mean it's not causing me any discomfort or anything,
it's just cosmetic shit. This is what I was told and I'm
like OK that's fine I don't give a fuck.
As long as I can eat, I don't care.
You know what's weird? Because there was there was a
time where I was working with somebody that supposedly didn't
have any adult teeth. Oh, they just had baby teeth.
I doubt that I really do. I don't.
Know their teeth look weird. Oh, you're actually serious?
Yes, no, I'm. Serious.
Oh, I thought there was a punchline here.
Oh, OK. And I'm like, how do you just
not have adult teeth? I don't trust it.
That's, I mean, I guess that could happen.
I it's not impossible. No, that could happen.
Interesting. Oh boy.
Trust me, I don't buy teeth either.
Yeah, no, that's the tooth. That's just.
No, yeah, they give me money. I give them two, they give me
money. But you know, I have adult
teeth. I'm not a shark.
I don't just infinitely regenerate teeth.
Otherwise I'd be rich. That really that would be
interesting. Just start.
Just regenerate teeth. Then just in talking talking,
there's another one. Yeah, it's a daily occurrence to
me. But this episode obviously is
not about dentistry. Damn it.
But. Do you carry your teeth?
Just brush twice a day or. It's.
Recommended. Just brush constantly, never
stop brushing. And it's how you wear your
fucking teeth down. Yeah, don't brush too hard.
Yeah, no, you can use. Use the electric toothbrush,
it'll actually save you. Electric toothbrushes.
My my brother's gonna get me one, he's told me.
Man, it's nice. He's a game changer.
Yeah, that's what you said. You got one for.
Yeah, for my birthday or no, no, that was a your cleaning kit.
But like I got, I got it for, you know, Christmas or
something. I'm like, why didn't I think
about this? Yeah, it's like it really
cleans. It does.
And it doesn't leave you like Oh my God, I just brushed all my
gums off. Like I, I knew that electronic
toothbrushes existed, but I'm just like, all right, grab the
stick, you know, grab the toothpaste and, you know, brush
your teeth. But you just, you just go like
tooth to tooth. She's just like 1234, just like
glide across or whatever. It's so simple.
Yeah, it it, it's and it's, I think those are those types of
toothbrushes are also better for your teeth 'cause you're not.
Yeah, you. Know it's just it's more of like
the vibration I guess breaks up the shit.
You know my my, my 1, mine has like 4 different settings.
You just use the basic one 'cause it's like, I think it's
like kind of hurts, whatever, like low, medium, high hurts and
then it's like a beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep,
beep. Like a fucking like.
Oh yeah. Yeah, yeah, like just pulsating.
Like, it's weird, but they're nice.
And you really get a good nice, clean mouth.
Yes. Yes, yeah.
So I like how like, yeah, this episode is not about dentistry.
Dentistry go right back into it. No, this this episode we are
going to talk about instead of mechanics we hate mechanics we
actually like. Yeah.
Oh, Mark to go first. Oh.
You want me to go first? Yeah.
I want Mark Mark first, OK. What the fuck?
I just don't look at that. They look like an elf.
A. Little bit the ears are just
like. Doesn't he?
Why do you do these? Things.
Autism. Yeah.
I said Asperger's. Yeah.
All right. Anyways, yeah, a game mechanic I
really fucking love is the Perry mechanic from Ultra Kill.
Yes. Oh my God.
It is such a lovely mechanic. I didn't really think much of it
until I got more into the game and Jack tells told me, hey,
have you have you done any more like the gun mechanics?
I'm like, wait a minute, there's mechanics with the gun.
He's like, yeah, just parry with the shotgun.
I'm like, OK, I'm trying to parry with the shotgun.
I'm like, what do you mean? Is it supposed to happen?
He's like, no, don't parry with the shotgun.
Parry the shotgun. Like what?
As soon as you fire Perry and I'm like, OK, I, I guess I do it
and then just explosion happens. I'm like.
What? The fuck, you know, Jack told me
about that. I'm like, I I don't know what
you mean, 'cause I was like shooting and trying to Perry,
but usually I was too early or too late.
Yeah, and I just couldn't figure out.
I'm like, what do you mean? What do you mean at that?
Just dink. I'm like, wow you?
Gotta try this now. Yeah.
You could you could do with anything.
You can parry the coins. You can parry the coins.
You like tink you, you, you flick over and you, you can
punch them. I've done that before with AV
one. It's actually a speed run Strat
where you flip the coin, you parry it and then like over V1
by the way, so it goes up in the air, you parry it again, goes
back up in the air, comes down, parry it again and like V1's
immune to damage. Except that and there have been
times where like I killed him before his health bar spot.
Are you talking about fighting V2?
Yeah, the V2, yeah, the first time you fight V2 in I think
limbo. Yeah, OK.
I mean you, you can, you can parry the Super laser.
No, there's a lot you can parry. Yeah, as long as.
Or what's even what's even better is you can use the Super
laser on the coins. Oh yeah, you can.
Real, real coin. Yeah, you can real.
Coin. Yeah, that's funny.
Like there there, there are so many hidden mechanics in that
game that I still have to explore.
Yeah, 'cause like the laser go like 123 like basically bend
around or like just reflect off the coin and like.
That it's an instant headshot and it does even more damage per
coin. Yeah, or there's I guess like a
tech where like even the enemy's just standing there and you like
use 4 coins, like the the laser will like just bounce between
the coins through the enemy and just blast them at the one final
hit for the headshot. It's it's horrifying.
It's horrifying what people like can do with the tech in this
game. Yeah, it is insane.
There's. A lot more that you can do in
this than I. Thought that's why there's the
meme machine. Put the coins away.
OK, I see. I see.
All right. I can't keep dancing to Orange
Justice while you shall go white boy go any longer.
I love that video, it's so funny.
Pretty much anything. Yeah, but but yeah, no, there's
so many hidden mechanics in that game.
The reason why the final few few layers of hell are taking so
long is because he's reworking the mechanics to deal with non
Euclidean shapes and spaces. Jesus.
What's next? Non Newtonian fluids.
No, like the the next layers of hell I think are like Jack would
know. I know there's violence.
Yeah, there's violence, but then there's also some sort of
trickery. One, yeah, I can't think of
them. I know, I know they.
I know which ones they are, but not they're not coming to me.
Apparently the level design is supposed to use non euclidean
level designs. I might actually hate that,
yeah. So non non Euclidean spaces and
they're reworking all the mechanics to work with that.
So the mechanics are kind of kicking.
Just sounds like it's going to be some sort of what's that game
like anti no, what is it anti chamber?
Kinda. Anti chamber.
Yeah, because that's that's a weird game.
I I think you've seen play it, but like there's just, you can
go around in like a square, but like you go through like 12
different rooms and then, oh, there's the exit.
Yeah, yeah, kind. Of oh, I think I.
Remember. Yeah.
Because that that game uses non new yeah non euclidean spaces as
well. Making it as a brain warp, yeah,
cool. But yeah, I am, I am so excited
to see how these mechanics are expanded on.
I I have you done the rocket writing?
I don't think so. Yeah.
So you, you know, with the with the rocket how you could freeze
time with it? Oh yeah.
Yeah. And then you just jump on the
rocket and you resume time. You can control the rocket using
your keys. That's fucking hilarious.
What the fuck? I've done that kind of in
Fortnite where, yeah, there was a point where you can just like
ride the rocket if you did it right.
Yeah. Yes, I remember that.
Yeah, just the amount of stupid shit you can do in the game.
Yeah. But yeah, yeah, closing that
off, Ultra Kill has amazing gun mechanics.
Yes, it does. I I can get that to that and
it's. Dull.
There's way more than I thought. Yeah, it looks like a simple
game, but it's one of those where it's.
So much depth. The two polygons in this game
are actually lacking because the the faces in this game are
fucking amazing. They're pulling the weight, the
tech. All right, who wants to go next?
Mr. Brandon isn't. You do.
You think anything? Yeah, I think a lot of things,
like I have ADHDI think a lot. It never stops.
Kind of sucks actually. But sunshine and lollipops and.
The boot break is in the face. Oh my God, we're cancelled.
Fuck what? Oh my God, we're cancelled.
So I actually want to go back to Secret of the Mimic.
I'm. Not done with.
This yet? I haven't finished yet.
Shut up, I'm not done. But wait this board.
I just so I left this purposely out of last week's episode
because I wanted to talk about it.
You know, this is just great timing for it with your
chopping, Brandon, but it's the data diver.
How you have to like actually plug it into the machine and
then turn your mouse to the left.
So, you know, you turn your wrist to the left and like you
actually like activate the machine with the data diver or
with the when you grab the crank, you have to actually like
put your mouse in a circular motion and like turn the crank
and all that, like the, you know, just do different things.
And it's just, God forbid with the generators, you're just.
Like, come on, go, come on. How fast you?
Yeah, you really like those tactile controls?
Yeah, I mean, I'm not sure if I really like them.
It's just the implementation of them is perfect.
It's literally perfect. Like it's it was just so
satisfying to do that and it just came so naturally.
By the end of the game, I was like, oh, I got to plug in the
data driver, turn left. I'm going to do the cranker.
I just got to go around or, you know, get the gas going.
I have to go up and down with my mouse.
Like it just, it just made so much sense.
And you do it so often as well. Yeah, yeah, that it just, you
just can't help it. But like, you see it, you do it.
You just automatically, like you putting the mouse in like a
circular motion or with the those pipes, yeah, you have to
like turn them in a circular motion.
Like it just, everything about it just made sense and it was
just so cool how well they implemented it.
I guess at first it's janky 'cause you don't like know
exactly how to do it. But like, once you get it, you
just get it. Like, I don't know how to say
it. Yeah.
And you just, you're interact, it gives you a lot of
interaction with the world, right?
So you know that that's if you you feel like you're actually
doing something. You know.
Yeah, no, it's not just you click a button and now you're in
another room. It's like, oh, you actually have
to plug in the machine, like turn it to the right.
You have to wait for like 7 eons because this is like 1980s
technology or whatever. So it's it's funny with the with
the data diver when some locations when you turn it and
then you get that circle on it. You know.
What that is, that's actually loading the area.
That's why it takes so long. Yeah, I've noticed that.
Like it took a minute. I'm like, why are some of these
longer and shorter? Oh.
It's loading literally the next day or.
Yeah, You know, I realized that for a minute because like some,
like, take, like, you know, 5, like warm, warm.
Like it takes like five of those.
And then someone's like, all right, here's like 15.
And it's like, why is this one taking so long?
But then like I realized I'm like it's unloading.
It's unloading and loading. Things, yeah, which I mean.
What are you doing it honestly, that's.
Kind of cool. No, that's really smart.
Like the way to do it. Like in kind of like be like
none the wiser. Instead of having like a loading
screen, yeah, like, you know, no, it's pretty cool because I
think when that happens, I think everything freezes.
So like if there was an enemy chasing you, I think it stops, I
think. I couldn't tell you.
Cuz that would that would kind of suck.
You're just waiting, like, come on, come on, he's coming.
Yeah, I mean, there was a time where like I went around the
corner and I'm like, did the enemy see me?
And then like I get, you know, like cuz I heard like the I'm
like feeling like the chasing sound.
So I get back to the door. I'm like, is he chasing?
He rounds the corner. I'm like, shit, shit, put it in
the tournament. Oh my God.
And like the door doesn't close instantly, but it was like Chun
Chun, Chun Chun like right at the door and it closed.
I'm like. Oh.
My God, I have never died when a door closed, but that was the
closest 'cause I'm just like oh shit, 'cause it's not that far
of a run from like around him turning to the door to see me.
I'm like, oh. Just having that image in my
head of oh shit, and you're like, you flick your fucking
camera. Just like fucking missing one.
Come on, turn holy. Shit.
But no, the IT was just, it was perfect.
It was perfectly implemented it, so it's smooth as shit.
There goes this chair counter. Time to beat my high score.
No, this is a cross episode thing.
OK, next. Come on.
Next fucking. God damn you, I was trying to do
the slow. He was trying to do the slow.
I was trying to do the. Slow.
All right, I'm done. I'm good.
I. Think I'm killing Ethan?
I can kill you. So that's Brandon's favorite
mechanic is chair Squeak. I can't do it.
Oh, wait. That's pushy shit.
I can't get it. I lost.
Go on. Brand.
What? Yeah, I hear him.
I heard him. Oh, OK, nevermind.
This is not a gaming podcast. It's a shitting podcast,
apparently. Yeah.
So for me, we're going to start off with Doom, the Dark Ages
shield. OK, I've seen you do this and
it's satisfying. I love everything about that.
Fucking shield. But the fact that I you can now,
you know, after you go through like I think first or second
level, then the game tells you, hey, you know, you can throw
your shield, right? Like really?
OK, don't see. So yeah, no, you're able to, and
you can also upgrade this too, but you can throw your shield
and any enemies that are weak, they just die, just fucking get
cut in half or shit. But they really have an emphasis
on that shield being able to parry enemy projectiles, stun
enemies. So they're the bigger enemies
you want to use your shield to. Then.
Attack so there's some motherfucker.
There are. There's some.
Duck of the road. There's some.
Fuck that duck. What?
You suck. Oh.
Oh, you want you want to play this now?
Yeah. Why?
Is it not doing the? Fucking.
Wow. Damn.
Yeah, so the the shield. Is really your just your best
friend and like I said earlier you can upgrade it which then
gives the shield a bigger radius to actually attack enemies and
you see like these fucking like knives and shit coming out of it
when you throw it it's. It is also used.
For progressing in some levels. Oh, that's cool.
So it actually is. Practical use.
Yes, it's. There are these like green like
body goo green things that goo green buddies that what you do
is you throw your shield, it latches on to it, then it pulls
you over to it. Which is fucking cool.
As shit I. Really.
I just, I can't get enough of throwing the fucking thing.
Even when there's no enemies I just throw it.
Wow. I mean, I'm not sure if you
played. Borderlands, the pre sequel but
there's this character called Athena in which she has a shield
well, she has a shield that you can pull up as her like ability.
So you know, it's not like cooldown, but.
I think. It's been a while.
I think it like absorbs damage that you take and then you could
just throw it for like big Dick damage.
I. Know I think the the the shield
in in the dark ages I think does something similar to that 'cause
I. Mean obviously also.
It is a shield. I mean it, it just makes.
You feel like Captain America. Oh dude.
Yeah, 'cause you could it. Takes a good bit of damage, and
then you can, you know, you're like, I don't like you.
Yeah. I, I think that is probably one
of the best mechanics in the game.
Yeah, that I could think of, Yeah.
I mean, if it's like. Kind of built around it.
It kind of has to be a really good mechanic.
Yes, I. Just I didn't.
Think it was going to be that much fair built around it
'cause. You know it's.
It's a shield. What can you do with?
The shield, Yeah, 'cause you I. Believe you don't have the
shield right away. I mean, it's probably like the
the. Eternal Sword.
Yeah, in a way. Yeah.
Yeah. And then again the.
The the gunplay for Doom the Dark Ages is really good too.
You know, instead of which emphasis on the shield, but
stand your ground being able to. Actually throw this.
Thing to get rid of enemies that are weaker, you know, and the
distance this fucking thing can go like holy shit, 'cause these
levels are kind of massive. Like.
They're not small, which I think is also why they give you a
Sprint button. Because now you Sprint.
Jesus Christ, is that terrifying?
I mean, oh, it's like. Thud, thud, thud.
Like walking, you're fast, but. Yes, and oh God, if you there's
also another mechanic. Can you like bash through a
wall? Wall sprinting.
Like you get no management. Then just blah I think there.
Is yes, you do have the shield. Oh OK, you you'd shield.
Put it up. And you shield that.
That's cool. Which that's really nice when
you're kind of far away from an enemy because Jesus fucking
Christ, you home in. The missile knows where it is.
It is. Stupid accurate.
I start to play. The Dark.
Ages but this this personally sounds like they edited Titan
mechanics from Destiny 2 and just put them onto Doomslayer.
Because even like with. The shield you all, it just
sounds really. Really the missiles EP after a
long. Day of splashing bandits.
This was very tired. And.
Another like. Very small mechanic.
It's not not anything like the shield, a certain distance from
where you fall off like a Cliff, you will cause a shockwave.
No, that's cool. And.
Anything that's in. Front of you missed it is.
Like. God, they make you.
Feel like. A badass like I'm, I'm gonna be
honest. I love 2016.
I don't know how I feel about Eternal, but I would play the
fuck out of Yeah the Dark. Ages.
Eternal was fine. I just think it was not a Doom
game for me. Now I, I have, I think I've said
this in a previous podcast episode.
I, I finished the game. I just, I, I, I can't do the
DLCS. They pissed me off.
I mean, I think for me. I think I also talked about this
in a previous episode then this is for stupid fucking reasons
I'm not going to go over. I just could not get past that
Calca demon in the first mission and there's like no save points.
You got to start the whole mission over again or something
stupid maybe, maybe like we're near the cockademan.
But it's just like it just murdered me.
Like that section just I could not do it, I will definitely
say. Eternal even.
Like if you. Play on like some of the lower
difficulties is hard. The game is.
Actually. Pretty difficult, yeah.
Now that doesn't make it bad. No, because that's how.
I personally. Enjoy it.
Yeah, so you you like? The the like balls to the wall
type like Doom games yeah no, he likes the.
Balls to the wall difficulties, yeah.
Like coming? For this man, you played Jedi
Survivor, a Grandmaster difficulty my first playthrough.
Yeah, this man did wish her with.
A gun. And it was like, yeah, fuck
yeah, we're not backing out. This man wants to play
Generation 0 on the hardest difficulty.
Yeah, well, let's see. How do you have you?
Played the original Dill, I have not.
Part of my problems. That.
I I haven't personally know how to access it.
And my second problem is that I don't understand what I'm
supposed to be doing. Yeah, that's what that's what it
was. For me, in the first year like
it, I just I feel like I have no.
Sense of direction at all it can be, sorry.
I think I went through like 2 or. 3 levels and I'm just like I
just constantly feel lost and like I think I even had to like
look up one of the levels like where one of the key cards was
or one of the keys whatever is like the blue one I think it
was. Because it was like the
Hollywood was. Like blue, yellow or like
something? Yeah, it can be.
There was this courtyard. That had to go out to another.
There's like this area. I'm like OK, OK it.
Can be it can be confusing. I don't mind that because I.
Played. The original.
Dude for so long. That, yeah.
But that that is a problem. That can happen and I mean
that's how old the game is, but I mean accessing the game, you
get it on steam, you get doom doom plus doom 2, because those
are the updated ports of the game and also has mod support.
So I would just be curious on how you would do with the
original Doom on the hardest difficulty.
Because the reason I say that is it's, it's not that the enemies,
if I remember correctly, do more damage to you.
It's the amount, yeah. Yeah, that's the thing.
And because doom. Doom classically has a play
style that transitions from more of an arena shooter into a
bullet hell. So it's so it's more.
Puzzles. It's more of an artificial
difficulty kind of deal then I guess.
In a way, yes, because the the true like Doom experience is I
think it's it's. Above.
Nightmare or ultra nightmare, which is like the the actual
true like this is how you should probably play doom if you want
that challenge, but it's not balls hard.
Yeah. Are you talking like?
Where if you die you have to restart the whole game.
So no, no. There is nothing like that.
Oh OK, no, The thing is with doom and.
And This is why saving is important.
Yeah, 'cause you could save. It anytime.
Literally, yeah. And it's just you want to do
that because if you die, you lose everything.
You go back to the beginning of the level, you lose all of your
guns. Oh no.
This is This is just. Across the board, all
difficulties. This is why you save after you
go through a room. Might want to save.
I know it saves scummy but trust me it sucks when you're pretty
far into the game and you lose your fucking guns, which you
get. You can get them back pretty
quickly in the level, it's just it sucks when you've got a bunch
of different demons and you have a little pistol.
Like. It's.
But that's just how those games work.
I mean especially with how slow the.
Pistol shoots too, yes. Now Doom 2 that.
One would give you. Trouble.
Yeah, because that one is a lot more difficult.
Yeah, because. Of the amount of.
Enemies again again it. Evolves.
Into a bullet hell, yes, but. Let me tell you, it is
satisfying when you get everything dead, OK, and you
move on to the next room or whatever or or continue your
puzzle. That is one hell of a
satisfaction. OK, And also Doom 2 has the the
double barrel. That's true.
Oh. The Super OH.
The Super shotgun, Yeah. It got that fucking thing.
No demon stands a chance. It's stupid.
Nothing beats the Super. Shotgun and internals with the
meat hook. Oh dude I love that shit.
Man I love hooking myself to the fucking cocka demon like hot
coming bitch. You think you fly and you safe.
God, I wish they would have had that in the in Dark Ages.
But I understand Dark Ages is a prequel.
Is a prequel to 2016? Yeah.
That makes a. Lot of sense, yeah.
And I just love the callbacks to the game.
God. Just from the start, you.
Got the little guy at the bottom of the screen looking and shit,
you know, from the original. Yeah, right there.
I'm like, Ding, all right, we're ready.
That's so. Fun.
But. What about you, Mark?
What you got? Anything else?
Give me a. 2nd to think. Do you want me to go or?
Yeah. Go ahead, having a little.
Time to think. I can I actually have?
Two others that I could talk about.
I'm not sure what's going to talk about though.
One or two. Guys, one or two. 2222 all.
Right, Titanfall. Two movement.
Oh yeah, baby. Yeah, dude, it's, it's so
fucking. Buttery smooth, transitioning
from like a wall run to like a slide on the ground, using the
grappling hook even to like fling around buildings and after
benching the explosions. To continue to propel your
velocity. Oh yeah, I mean, that's only if
it's. Your own grenades, but still
like yeah, still just or even like the the Titan movement is
like it goes from like smooth pilot to like kind of clunky,
like giant. It's yeah, it's still pretty
good, Yeah, Especially for the sheer size of the Titans,
especially the transition. From pilot to Titan, Yeah, I
mean, well, the way the. Maps are made is like everything
is giant. But then you get into Titan.
It's like all these people are Titan, yeah.
Squish well, play is. A monarch or tone it just laser
shooting somebody out of the ear.
Oh my God, it was. An ion just no.
That was. Ion Yeah, just.
Beep. There's just red.
Mist there's. Like no. 1st.
Person shooter I can think of. That is that smooth?
No, I don't think. Even Titanfall 1 is that smooth.
It was not they perfected. It they.
Really it? Was really perfected with.
Two and then we got E pixel engines, Yeah, but don't talk
about that. We don't.
Talk about that. Oh shoot, bikies.
Bikies, bikies. But no, yeah.
Just everything about that and like people like, you know, we,
we've played it probably like 2 years ago or something and we're
using the North Star engine back when all the hackers were on
Titanfall. Yep.
And. Like just when?
We actually got into a multiplayer game and there was
like AG rank 81 coming up our ass.
And just like, how, how are you moving so smoothly and like just
sneaking up on me because it's like I'd be running through the
city or whatever. Like just like with my gun in
hand, be like I'm ready to shoot the nearest motherfucker and
kill them. But no, you just die.
Like, where did he come from? Yeah, a literal ghost, a shade
just flowing through the. Whatever geometry, yeah.
Jesus. Like I don't stand a chance.
It's literal. Miracles.
It's just such a shame that they don't want to go back into it.
No, dude, every everyone. Would be like yes, Titanfall
three yeah, I mean, that game came out what, 10 years ago
yeah, it's. It's unfortunate because it got
logged. It got slogged in between Call
of Duty in Battlefield. Yeah.
Oh, I didn't. Realize that.
Yeah, yeah. It was basically getting.
Beat up by Yeah, it it it was a. Sacrificial lamb to the
slaughter, which is why you did not do well.
It was a shame, it really. Was but like.
It's even worse because who was the publisher EA for this?
Yes, EA was publisher. Respond.
Was the development yes. Yes, because EA.
Put it next to Battlefront or Battlefield.
Yeah, Which? Is their.
Title as well. Yes, they literally.
Chose. Titanfall to be in the
sacrificial lamb. You right, it was kind of they
could have. Just.
Like delayed it by. Like 3 months at least and like
it's just. Awful.
Timing and that's the only reason I will say like.
Experiencing Titanfall 2 for the first time mark when we played
the open beta. It was a magical thing.
It was so great. Well, like I, I.
Don't, I don't know how it happened, like just being able
to play the the open beta, but like, I think you might have
said something about it. Yeah, or so I don't remember
how. Like I just like suddenly I was
playing this open beta for the weekend.
I'm like, this is fucking magical.
And then it closed down for the week because, you know, they
were like doing another test the next weekend and like they
changed some things like because Ion was fucking broken.
But then Scorch was broken the next week.
Because those are the only two. Titans at the time, yeah,
Especially for just. The beta and it's just like.
It was just like I couldn't. It was.
I could not wait that week. Yeah, I want to play more of
this now. And then the next week it came
out like this is like the magical feeling came back, like
everything was just punkin perfect in the world and like
this is the greatest feeling ever.
Just. God the.
Movement is I just I I hate. Like the feeling of we may never
see that again. You know, like, not in that way.
No, yeah, we have. Oh God, what's that?
I can't think of the game as like Blade Runner or something
like that, like where you kind of like walk, you have one hit
and you're dead. Mirror's Edge.
No, no, I think it's like. I think it's like, oh, maybe it
is Blade. Yeah, I think it is Blade.
Runner, I can't exactly remember, but like that's kind
of got a smooth thing too. But we're not we're not going to
see it in a PvP aspect. Yeah, no.
And that game was? PvP central, I mean yeah, there
was what, home defense or whatever, but like yeah, it was
PvP yes and I. Well, did.
Did Titanfall 2 have a campaign? It did.
It did. OK, it was.
The first one to have a. Campaign the only one to.
Have a campaign, Yeah. The only one to have a.
Campaign. Well, anyways, Titanfall One had
a really weird campaign system where the campaign takes place
in multiplayer matches and you get glimpses of the story is you
either win or lose on both teams.
Huh, Yeah, it's really weird. It's kind of an.
Issue, yeah. So essentially.
What? What Titanfall one story does,
is it it it it's world building. Yeah.
Yeah, it's building up the universe give you, if you want
to think of it, think of like storytelling from Overwatch.
Overwatch One. Yeah, OK.
I see and like there was also. I'm like, do you ever play the
campaign? I did.
It's just been so long. OK, yeah, cuz like there's that.
There's that one map where there's like that giant radar
dish, like outside this bunker, they have to go inside with BT
and all that. And there's collectibles in
this, you know, in the throughout the campaign.
But like on the radar dish, like in the center, like just in
this, I have to get up there to get that collectible.
Like that's how open world this thing is.
Like there's just like in that world, There's like no limit to
what? Like there's no upper bounds of
what this game could have done as as long as it was.
Insight. You could actually go to it
pretty well. Like there's that one.
There's that one map where it's like underneath the sand or
whatever and like there's like what, skinny walls, like way up
at the top you can get above the map, but the maps like no, get
back down there, you're going to die.
Like you have 5 seconds. God, I even remember on that.
On that mission with the radar dish, like there's like a little
elevator of like BT where you have to go up.
Yeah, I got stuck under there. I had to restart the mission.
Are you kidding me? I literally couldn't get out of
it. And BT is like, come on, let's
go. Come.
On get. Cooper, let's.
Go. Yeah.
Get inside, Cooper. We got to go.
It's cool we have. To go to.
Wendy's. She had chicken tendon.
She had chicken nut and chicken sandwich.
It's funny. God damn.
It we're. Going to Wendy's, I I had a.
A similar experience, not in like Titanfall, but with a
fucking elevator when I was playing that Half Life, Alex,
that VR. Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, the one. Elevator.
I was like halfway through the mission, the elevator broke.
I went up without me in it. And.
I couldn't call back down and I'm sitting here like, you've
got to be kidding. Why is there no fucking call
button here, guys? Yeah, really.
Like. What the fuck?
So yeah, I start the entire mission over.
Yeah, I mean luckily. Mine was at the very beginning,
but still. Yeah, I'll just make up the.
I could just think about the movement for.
Hours and just be just, gosh, just.
Gosh, I miss it so much. Yeah, so do I.
I know like what was it? Black Ops 3 tried to do it and I
wonder. Call of Duty.
Games. Tried.
Well, yeah, because Advanced Warfare tried.
It's the Warfare. Tried.
Black Ops 3. Black Ops four.
I think it was Infinite, no? Advanced.
Infinite Warfare. Advanced Warfare.
Had the the exo suits? No, I thought it was infinite.
Warfare that had the exo suits. No, they had the EXO suits.
No, because advanced. No, Yeah.
Advanced Warfare had the EXO. Suits.
Yeah, because. Infinite.
Infinite Warfare was the space 1, yes.
But yeah, no, like those had like and you could like double
jump and like kind of wall ride, you could slide a little bit,
but there was nowhere it could not compare with like Titanfall.
You could slide for a fucking mile in Titanfall, Oh my God,
and I'm. Always going to have a bone to.
Pick with Infinite Warfare. Fucking.
Again, could not play the fucking game for a little bit
because the fucking multiplayer just didn't want to fucking
work, Yeah. God, that shit.
Sucked. And honestly?
I will say Infinite Warfare definitely, I think did improve
upon the movement from Black Ops 3 because if it did feel a lot
smoother, then yeah, yeah. I.
Mean it was pretty. Smooth for Black Ops for like a
Black Ops. Sorry for Call of Duty standard.
It's like back up there goes not that bad, but no.
Yeah, but. Again, it's.
It could. Definitely be.
Improvements. But I'm I'm.
Always like any of the Black Ops games.
For me it it's black. The original Black Ops, Yeah.
The the thing though. Is that like?
Each game is made for its own movement and the fact like the
sheer size of the maps, yes. For.
These Titans as well as made for the humans is just like perfect
yeah, there's such a good. Balance to it, yeah.
No, I, I. God I really missed that.
Fucking God damn that was so good.
Well, I mean, I pretty. Much we'll just keep repeating
ad nauseam. So yeah, there wants to go.
It's so good. I want to talk about the.
Portal mechanics from Portal? Oh, that's pretty good.
Oh. My.
God. The fact that the portals are.
Instantaneous. Yeah, they're they're
instantaneous. And you?
Can use them in so many different useful ways.
Yeah, launch yourself. Launch.
Yourself. Direct the lasers.
My favorite was Multiplayer 2 where you have to launch you and
a buddy at each other and slam into each other to breach a
platform in the middle of a chasm.
Wait, really? Yeah.
I have yet to play 2. That sounds awesome.
Yeah, I never got. To do the multiplayer I got to
deal with my. Brother, we were so frustrated
with it by for like a moment. Why are you pointing?
We could do it together. We got because I've never played
another There you guys go, I mean.
Yeah, we could do the multiplayer.
Yeah, but we were. So we were just dumbfounded
because we're like, OK, maybe we're just getting the angle
wrong. And every time we would try to
reset the portals, it would launch one of us into the void
and we'd die. We'd have to respond.
We're like, what we're supposed to do until we accidentally
stumbled the pod. Oh, if we go at the same time,
we'll smack into each other, do an emote, and then land on the
platform underneath us that we're supposed to get to.
That's funny. Yeah, that's actually.
A really cool puzzle cuz like that that just makes you think
yeah, it makes. You think outside of the box it
is. It is so amazing cuz like I love
it when you have. Like Co-op puzzles.
Yeah. Like, you know, kind of in the
IT takes Two. Yeah.
But then you have the ones that just like, yeah, is this even
possible? Yeah, yes.
It is. It can only.
Be done in Co-op yeah I'm not talking like oh like this person
is in a crane and this person is trying to climb up a building
and they have to like push blocks around No, it's like
where you actually have to have another physical being for this
to be possible. You both have to be thinking.
Yeah, like you both have to participate.
Man portal man fuck. I just want to play it again.
It is so good. I.
Wish they would do a third. I still do a.
Second, what do you mean it's valve?
They can't count to 3 trail. You got a point.
Yeah. Let's see the Chalk Readers
song. 1-2 and four and four if you wanted 3.
Well, guess what? Here's Half Life, Alex, and it
is it. Is a good.
Game. It's a good game.
I know it's not Half Life. Three, it's not Half Life 3,
that is. Referenced in The Chalk Eaters.
Song too. Oh my God, it's really funny.
Like the setup tonight. I can only count the fuck.
God damn it, it's. A fucking song in my head now.
Shit. But yeah, no.
I just love the portal. I just, I just love how there
was. No load times for the portal.
So it was like as soon as you put one portal down, it's then
you put and then you oh, excuse me.
And then you put the other one down.
Boom. Like you could, you could see
the location. Yeah, the second portal right
there. So.
Good. Granted, there was like a.
Little bit of a load, but like, that's just the portal
animation. Yeah, this is the portal
animation. Opening up, it's just it's
gorgeous. What's funny is the.
During the development of Portal 2, they were looking at not
adding the portals. Why then it's not?
Called Portal. Yeah, exactly.
Yeah, I, I forget what they were going to do, but the, the
portals were kind of like put to the side.
And I'm like, man, I'm so glad you guys didn't do that.
Yeah, that's such a dumb. Idea well into isn't there like
the goop or? Whatever.
Yeah, so so at some. Point you get to the goop, so
there's goop that that is bouncy and there's goop that makes you
speedy Yeah yes that that was like the weirdest like when I
first. Watched a play, I think it was
Jacksepticeye. I first watched a playthrough
that came and like, this, this is this even Portal?
Like, yeah. And then, like, I was thinking
about it like a few years after the fact.
I'm like, that is a fever dream. And like, Nope, that's just
Portal, too. Got it.
OK. All right.
Honestly, I think it fits. It's I have to play it, but
like. Thinking back to them, like,
what were they thinking? Yeah, it was odd, but.
It fits with it, yeah, if we have to.
Actually play, that's what. I'm saying.
Otherwise it's just like what are they thinking?
This is stupid. This isn't portal it just took.
Me a minute to like figure out how to use this shit yeah and
then as you're. Going through the.
Levels you have the aperture guy talking.
Oh, is it not Glados anywhere? Well, at.
That point of the game, you're in a very foundational part of
the part of the facility. Oh yes.
After. Well, I won't say anything
because you haven't played it. Yeah, no, that's fine.
Don't, don't go. Well then, after Wheatley.
Takes over. Oh yeah, and, and Gladys gets
put into a potato. You're sent down into the
literal foundations of the building, and you find the very
old Aperture Science Research facility.
I will say I really find it funny.
The fact that like, all right, Gladys this you're you have too
much power or whatever, you check her out and he's like, all
right, really, here you go. And he's like, Oh yes, I can
feel the power and instantly goes.
The problem is. He is just a moron and he
cannot. Handle.
It I just love how yeah. Gladys being in the potato and
it's and she's on the on the gun.
I'm like, Oh my God. Y'all are geniuses.
This is fucking great. And then you reinstate.
Her at the. End of the game you find her,
she's being. Eaten by a crow, she's like ow
ow ow, get away, get. Him.
God. And then what was it?
Was it portal? Two that had the the one cuts in
space. Yes, it's Portal 2, yeah.
I love that, sure. You put a portal on.
The moon to get rid of weed. It gets sucked.
Off into space. And Glanos catches you before
you get sucked out. That's right, that was the
second. One.
Yeah, it's there's. Like it's.
Just like, Oh yeah, we. Made the portal walls using moon
rocks and that's the only. Place that the portal will stick
to. So what do we do?
Shoot. The moon like how like.
It travels so far that's like take a second, but then it's
like Ding. Yeah, space I like.
Space. Oh my God, space.
Just. The ending with glass be like
and I got to remember all my personalities when I was a
human. Space, space, space.
Space deleting memory. Banks.
Yeah. Now then.
Now that that's gone. Or the fucking animal.
Gorgeous. What the hell is wrong?
With this one. The humor.
In. The Portal series is just.
It's top notch. It is.
So fucking. Good.
I miss it. So.
Much. Make a third game, damn it.
I'm gonna play more. No, we had to sell.
More CS GO skins Yeah, because we need to get these children
gambling we have CS GO to. Portal to half life to let's
play one. I'm missing Left for Dead 2.
There is, yeah. We can't count to three.
There is. I got to show you it Mark also
easy play it too. There is another there is
another Portal game, but it's I know what you're talking.
About I'm not having, I think it's called.
I might have an idea. It is and it follows.
What Kate Johnson specifically? So it's like the narrator of the
game, so with. This well with this game, it's
not made by Valve, OK is. A small.
Team so it's a fan game. Essentially, I guess you could
call. It that.
Yeah, like it is plural. Yeah, yeah.
I saw clips of it and I wasn't sure if it was real or not.
Yes, it is on Steam. I have not played through the
entire game, which I actually want to get back to that.
Not thinking about it. It's been a little.
While since I don't. Remember most of it, Yeah.
But what I do remember is like this is Portal.
This feels like Portal. Yeah.
This team put in so much fucking effort.
Yeah. That it was it it it's good.
So if you have a like a portal kick, I could show you what that
game is. I'd like to do it.
Try. It yeah, it's from what I.
Can remember like, yeah, this is Portal.
This is good. This is good.
The puzzles. The puzzles in that game make
you think some of them are kind of hard.
Yeah, I do like that aspect. It's like, man, how is this
possible? It's like then you're like, Oh
my God, it is like I had the same thing with a Telus
principle run into henna. That DLC has the hardest
puzzles. I, I have played, I, I know
there's harder puzzle games, but the hardest puzzles I have
played in the puzzle game and I'm like, I was determined to be
like, I'm not using a guide, he said eventually.
You think? Of the idea like just ran like I
I know some randomly comes to you like I've had that one
portal. Yeah, how the fuck am I?
Like, unless you're a pirate. Softer and you cheat on stream.
Actually I get the. Hardest puzzles I have played
is. The Talos.
Two DLC, but that's like a lot of the puzzles and Talos can
just be boiled down like the hardest puzzles can be boiled
down to lasers because then it's just like a matter of like
balancing the lasers. Yeah, you know, like pretty much
math, like cancelling each other out or edition or whatever it
was like it's just Nah, my my brain.
Doesn't do that. I want to.
Say my favorite puzzle. Games are either the game makes
you think like in Portal or Intelos, or the puzzles are just
so over the top it's fucking ridiculous.
Like in Outlast. Yes, yes.
Last night we were finishing up the city run.
And so Brandon, Emma and I, we got stuck into a mission where
it's like, all right, you need to collect jugs of STD's to
inject into this guy. They were like, what?
Yeah, that was. Like what the fuck?
What the fuck are we doing? Literally you pour these.
Into this thing. There's a guy suspended over
this, you know, and when, when you're ready to leave, you're
just hearing this guy screaming bloody fucking murder as he's
just getting repeatedly. Injected I know this is a
fucked. Up game but it's fucked up.
Damn. Oh.
Yeah. Well, believe.
Believe us, I know we read that. Like what?
The fuck? I know you're guys.
Your brother walked into the. Room, he's like, why are you
carrying a jug of STD? That's right, Patrick did walk
in. Yesterday.
Yeah, carrying a jug of STD. What the fuck?
You know Emma. Said that her.
Brother was in the hallway when I called Outlook guys, I got the
STD Oh. No, that is into.
Our room and I was just like, don't worry, it's it is hard.
To describe what we're doing in this game because like, if you
know Outlast, you know out, you know Outlast.
I mean, God, yeah, we were me. And you were fucked up.
We're cutting this guy's fucking legs like it makes you want to
play this. Game just cause of the absurd
shit but like I feel like it's more horrifying than you guys
make us out I. I mean, I mean the the.
Characters can't hear you, but also because we we talk over
discord, we don't really know if they can hear you in the game.
And it's, I don't know, like the the.
Scary factor. It's there, I'm sure, because
it's. Multiplayers it's less scary
yeah, it. Definitely.
It definitely feels a lot less. Scary when you're.
It's not like if you're playing the.
Single player game, yeah, it's it's.
Much more gore happy. That's the thing.
If you can't. Handle gore.
Don't play it. Just just definitely don't.
What was? The other thing we had to put a
put this guy through getting waxed by putting.
Wax. On him and then.
Incinerating him, yeah. Like I said.
It it's violent. It's it's violent.
And it's gory. Somebody get a reason?
That you guys are doing this? So the reason?
Is you're trying to rebirth, you're going.
Through quote, UN quote therapy, what you're going through,
psychological analysis and stuff and what you're becoming
terrorists, yes. Yeah, it's funny.
We we, we've done one, we've done 1 rebirth so far and we
caused a plane to go down killing 84 people with a bunch
of Cuban. Nationals on that?
Yep. The the.
More I hear about this game, the more I hate that's.
Like I said, that's if you cannot handle body ward, it's
not your thing. It is.
Not it just can't. You want?
Yeah, especially when the. Game has a specific nudity
filter too, like I know that you guys are talking.
About this like yeah, we like this is funny, but then it's
just like, no, there's some fucked up shit so Oh yeah
there's a. Fucked up game.
You can sugarcoat. It but deep down.
It's fucked up. Like I want people, I want
people to know they're listening to this podcast Like it's not
happy go lucky. Like it's not happy, no.
No, far from it. Like I.
Actually thought. Like you guys are making jokes
about it, but like you guys aren't talking about like the
fucked up part We're we're trying.
To make light of the situation like there are some you remember
you. Remember the mission?
The mission? Feed the orphans.
Oh no. So.
In the in the game, most of the most of the most of the people
you see in the maps are just mannequins.
Mannequins like. Animatronics.
There's mannequins and there's. And then there's corpses or
sometimes live people, but that's a whole different part of
the topic in the mission. It's, oh, you have to feed the
orphans at the orphanages. All the orphans are are
mannequins. There's no actual children
getting harmed in the game, thank God.
Which, Yeah. That would be messed up.
Well, they. You can't do that.
You cannot have any kids harmed in a video game.
No, you can't. No, that's.
Little you can't do that like that would be like, yeah, you're
done. Your game would get your.
Game would get taken off yeah no you stores you're.
Done. Yeah, Like if I, if I.
Was playing a game like this and I know it's fucked up if I were
to saw something like that. I'm uninstalling your fucking
game and I'm going to tell you you're a piece of shit.
Yeah, because that's fucked up. Yeah, that's that's.
So much I don't give a fuck if I see an adult.
Get fucked. Yeah, but if a.
Kid. It's hurt in the game.
I'm fuck you. Yeah, you have a problem.
Yeah, you've got a big problem. But anyways, the mission is, oh,
feed the orphans because they don't want to eat.
And it's like, OK, you have to make soup for them.
And we get up to the first one. It's like, oh, take this bottle
of bleach and make the soup as there's.
Body parts inside of the thing. And so we poured.
The first We poured the first bottle of bleach and it's like,
OK, you got to stir it in before you go with the next bottle.
I go up to it, I pick up the paddle, I start stirring and I
go because personally to me, I'm like, this is really fucked up.
I'm going to make a joke to make light of the situation to ignore
how fucked up this is. It's.
We're cutting off the leg. First mission we do together,
we're cutting off the legs of one guy and it's like, oh, you
have to feed the children the Eucharist and they have a guy
string strung up on a cross still alive at the edge of the
Chapel, and he had to cut off his legs to feed the mannequins.
God. It's yeah.
There's a giant fucking dual handed bow saw that Brandon and
I have to do, so we're like heave.
Oh heave. Oh.
Just ignore how horrifying this is.
Like I'm like. I don't, I don't know if I could
say like this about you, Mark, but I'm, I'm used to playing
these type of games that are super violent.
I mean, yeah, but. Like but.
The thing is, again, we're. Making light of how?
The game is, but it's very graphic.
There is a bunch of nudity and shit.
Yeah, that's what I want to get down to.
Because like, I don't want people getting the wrong idea.
No, like I know Outlast like the game itself is like bad, but
like you'll know like. When we when you hear Outlast,
the thing you're going to think about is how fucked up it is.
Yeah, it is so. That's what you should.
Think yeah, now this. Like I said that this this game,
Outlast Trials, is very violent. There is again a lot of nudity,
not an exception. It's.
You there's a nudity filter. But it doesn't quite know
everything I'm to. Be completely.
Honest, I'm kind of surprised it's not an A rated game.
Yeah, it's like kind of drawing the line.
Oh, that's what you're saying? I think it like meant like.
Nudity filter as in like on steam or something?
No, like the game itself. The game itself.
Has a nudity filter because if you don't have it on you just
see. Wang, you see Wang and you.
See Titty and it's kind of funny.
Right. OK, it's, it's fucked up.
It's so messed. Up, but it is again, this is a.
Game that is for adults and for people that aren't squeamish.
Yeah, now. With that being said.
We just want you to understand the game is not for everybody.
Yeah, and it's. It's just one of those games.
That, you know, it's, again, it's a video game.
It's not real, OK, this is not real.
And nobody's getting hurt. Actually it's, you know, doesn't
mean it can't be. Like just too much for someone
to handle. Yes, like this is a.
Game that if you want to know what it is and you can stomach
to watch some of it to see if you can handle it, that is
probably the best course of action.
Because again, we're not talking.
Yeah, like a saying it's us saying that it's fucked up is an
understatement. So just.
Protect. Yourself, if you're not used to
that kind of graphic nature, do not play it.
Save yourself the headache because some people are
sensitive to that kind of stuff so.
Be aware. What you're playing and
understand that if you hear Outlast, it's most likely a
fucked up experience. Yeah.
But if anybody who does play it and likes the game, yeah, it's a
fun game. Like there's puzzles and stuff.
There's, you know, there's things you got to think about.
It's like a puzzle game first. With a horror aspect, yes, which
is what makes it very interesting.
And some of the enemies are. Really fucking funny.
Gooseberry. She has like a puppet that talks
and has a drill. Yeah, it's fucked up, but I do
want to talk about one more mechanic before we get.
Out of here. So well, we'll talk about the
last two because they're not they're not long.
The drop dash and Sonic Mania band fucking Tastic literally
jump in the air, hold a Sonic starts spinning, he just takes
off. That is so nice to have when you
don't want to stop and then try to charge a spin dash.
The drop dash is so good. It's I still need to play Sonic?
Mania, it's so good. Sonic Mania is the game that
debuted the drop dash and then now in Sonic Origins, which is
like the collection of all the 16 bit Sonic games and I think
the 8 bit, some of the Game Gear games, all of the Sonic 123 and
Knuckles, they all have the drop dash as well now.
The the the. Levels in these games,
especially Sonic 1, the drop dash is odd to use because Sonic
1 is more platform heavy, not speed yeah when you think of.
Sonic. A You think of speed, but the
first game was not meant for that.
It was fast, sure, but it was more platform heavy.
So just keep that in mind. And when you use the drop dash,
be aware of where you're going because nine times out of 10,
you're going to get hit by something.
Yeah, but that the drop dash is great.
I honestly, I love it. I use it all the time.
And the last one is, which is, funny enough, RE4's remake.
The knife parrying overpowered as shit My.
Dad, just you. Find it funny, be like, oh, I'm
being charged out with a pitchfork, Perry, that bitch
with a knife, Harry, I'm going to kick your ass.
Now, no, I Oh no, he's coming up with a.
Chainsaw Perry with a knife. That's amazing.
He. Still.
Has that imperfect condition. The knife.
The knife. Yeah.
Yeah, 'cause it's. The the the knife I have, which
is actually the you get this knife I think after you beat the
game or no, you get you get this knife after you shot all of the
like 16 collectible thing. OK, this knife is the original
knife that Leon had in OGRE 4, but this knife in particular,
when you completely upgrade it, it gets infinite durability.
So, yeah, I mean, you fucking parry anything.
I mean, it's, it's well, it's funny.
Did you know you can also parry when one of the enemies tries
punching you? Really.
Yeah. You.
You. Literally cut.
Their arm off. It's fucking funny as shit.
Like, yeah, I have an old man, like trying to punch me.
I remember the first time I I parried it and I'm like, I just
took your fucking arm off. Now you're stunned.
Come here, motherfucker. And.
Kick his ass. But being able to parry the
chainsaw guy, that is not as easy as you think it is because
it's not a normal like you wait for him to like you if he's
going to. Come at you, you're going to.
Get a prompt on your screen that is the Perry button, but it
becomes red because the game is telling you you need to parry or
you're going to die. I have.
Parried the chainsaw guy probably once or twice, yeah,
because his movements are so erratic, yeah, that it's hard to
know when you're going to be able to actually parry him.
Yeah, because it's also. A timing thing.
Yeah, timing windows on. Parries are ridiculous, which is
funny. I play.
On hardcore, which is a step down from professional.
The reason I play on hardcore is because I've gotten so used to
parrying at the speed of the enemies on hardcore that I've
tried unassisted and they're so slow that I keep fucking up my
Perry. Because you have you want to try
to do a perfect Perry so you stun them so then you can go in
for a melee attack. That's how you save ammo.
No, it's it's so stupid seeing I for the first time, even before
playing the game, seeing Leon fucking Perry the chainsaw guy.
I'm like, wow, yeah, that feels great after how many times my
head has gone poof every time. Fucking.
Christ, man. Yeah, because there's nothing
you can do in the original game. Yeah, you got to just keep your
distance. Yeah, fair enough.
So it's. The fuck man, it's so good.
God, I got I could do that shit all fucking day.
It's just so satisfying. When you get that perfect
pairing, then you. Fucking kick them.
I mean, I got, I got a. Satisfying one if you don't
mind. Yeah, go for it.
Underdogs. I've talked about this way long
ago, but like it's AVR game and you're in this mech called the
Gorilla. And it makes a lot of sense
because you have really tiny legs and you have like really
long arm. You actually have to like move
with your arms as well. You collide across the arena and
you have three health bars, your right arm, your left arm and
your body. And yeah, you can move around
and punch enemies with your arms.
And like the, the, the faster you move your arms, the more
damage you deal. You may even send an enemy
flying and like even into spikes like then they're stuck on
spikes and everything. But like you got to like move
to. Get to enemies as well as move
to dodge enemies. And sometimes you, you know,
like maybe you got to raise your arm because like an enemy is
like coming to attack you and like just move it out of the way
so it doesn't take damage. Otherwise you could be down an
arm in the middle of the map. But like, just the way that you
like, you can glide across the the map and like just swinging
your arms because like you got to like press a button to grab
the the ground and then you can swing yourself.
But like demand is as satisfying when you really, because you can
also, like if you put both arms on the ground and you swing your
arms back and you push yourself forward, you can like basically
do a chest bump into the enemy. Oh, that's cool.
Yeah. It's actually really cool, like
just. The way the movement is as well
as like not only. Do you have to use your arms?
For movement, but if you move your arms for damage as well,
yes, yeah, there. Is no way to.
Move otherwise. Like you can't just use like the
little thumb sticks or whatever to move around.
Nope, you'll have to grab the ground and move it's.
Really insane honestly. As a movement mechanic, yeah it
is. It's.
It's it's very smooth. I mean, you guys have seen me
play it a couple times, yes. So both you and Jack play it.
It's it it. It you just glide and if you
have overcharge you can move even faster.
Oh, it's great. Yeah, that.
That that's it. It's just a small one, like
again, it's AVR only game, but it's very good for AVR only game
and they're trying to work on multiplayer as we speak.
Yeah, I also want. To play that Dungeons of
Eternity or whatever it is. Me too.
I wouldn't play that. I don't know if I got it or.
Not I can't remember, but I do. I think it actually did, but I
do want to play that one. Yeah.
It's either you got it or it's on your.
Wish list, yeah. I feel like, no, I, I think I
got it. I think, I think I'm still need
to buy a wood crew. Oh, Oh yeah.
Yeah, Yeah, that's true. All right, Mark.
Anything else? Yeah, I'm good, man.
OK. All right.
Well, thank you for listening to us ramble about the dentist in
the beginning. How about that?
Oh yeah. Ramble 20 minute ramble.
I forgot about. Your.
Tooth problems? Well.
Was problem was a problem. Not anymore, but yeah, thank you
for tuning into this episode. We hope you enjoyed.
Let us know in the comments what some of your favorite mechanics
are in games. We'd love to see that.
And you are free to unplug and enjoy the rest of your night.
Day or morning? What?
About evening. No, not.
Allowed. To enjoy evening.
Yeah, not here. Evening.
Suck ass, sorry. I killed Mark.
I was all professional and. Shit.
And these assholes come in here and just completely.
And utterly just. Murder it.
That is our job, man. Why don't?
You go ahead and. Push that.
All right. Goodbye.
