0:30 I guess I want to start off this episode just kind of as a

0:34 channel update and a bit of an apology from last video or our

0:40 last couple of videos. I know we've promised that, oh,

0:44 we're going to be doing this playthrough and this playthrough

0:47 and this playthrough on the YouTube channel.

0:49 And in the time since we've recorded those episodes and we

0:54 started trying to get through to editing them, we have decided

0:58 collectively to scale back a lot of her ambitions with that.

1:03 We were very ambitious. Yeah.

1:06 With our ideas. So instead of having a two man

1:11 play through with me and Ethan, me and Brandon and Brandon and

1:16 Ethan, as well as the all together play through, we're

1:20 going to choose to go small about this and find her footing

1:25 with just the three of us play through.

1:28 So hopefully soon we're going to be able to finish editing the

1:34 Start of the Light Year Frontier campaign videos and get them out

1:39 to you guys. Yes, the first one is done,

1:44 which can could be uploaded at this point, and the second one

1:50 is in the works. It's not going to take very long

1:52 for that. And we're, we're planning for

1:54 like what, a weekly upload? That's where we're going to try

1:58 to shoot for Anne, Yeah. We just decided let's just start

2:03 small 1st and then see. What we can handle?

2:08 Yeah, we're a little just there. We got a little bit too ahead of

2:14 ourselves there. We're like, Oh yeah, we're going

2:16 to do all this, all this, all this, all this.

2:19 To be fair, we really didn't do anything yet.

2:22 We were just, hey, here's well, it was mainly my idea and you

2:26 guys said, yeah, let's do it, let's try it.

2:29 But then I thought of the reality of it and it's just

2:34 better if we start off small. Maybe we can do the podcast plus

2:40 Lightyear plus maybe a duo, whoever may maybe.

2:46 Even that might be a stretch at this.

2:48 That's what I'm thinking though, so let's just start with.

2:50 Yeah, right now we just Finder footing start kind of getting

2:55 these processes built out and start experimenting from there.

2:59 But just as an announcement, I'm sorry that we kind of over

3:03 promised, but this is our reasoning and this is what we've

3:08 decided as a group is probably going to be the best going

3:11 forward. Man, that was the most serious 3

3:20 Hold on guys, let me derail it by talking about another indie

3:23 game for 50 minutes. Fall out.

3:50 to me. Anyways, what have you guys been

3:56 up to for the past couple of weeks?

4:01 Well I fuck a bunch of games but that's pretty busy.

4:11 Yes, today, at the time of recording this, there is a Sonic

4:21 mod that came out that redid another Sonic mod like fan game

4:27 thing. Yeah, Sonic Megamix, if anybody

4:31 who knows Sonic knows that. I believe Megamix is one of the

4:34 first mods for the classic Sonic.

4:38 I think, don't quote me on that, but I think it is.

4:42 But a team has been working on this for a couple years and it's

4:48 a full remake of that mod, but in Sonic Mania and I was playing

4:55 it and I it's, it's a short game.

5:01 It's, it's really good. Like I, I only played a little

5:05 bit of the original mega mix. So I my opinions are kind of not

5:10 there yet, but so far it it's honestly, it's great.

5:16 It's pretty as fuck, man. The, the, the pixel art for this

5:21 being Sonic mania. I mean, they're that should tell

5:24 you right there how good it is, but it's like go play it is what

5:30 I'm trying to say. It is great but also play the

5:33 original as well because without the original he wouldn't have

5:36 this. Yeah.

5:38 So I'm very, very happy with it. Again, it is short, it's like 5

5:45 levels. So far the boss fights have been

5:48 have been good. Only one I haven't really liked

5:52 right now and it's kind of like Sonic twos one boss fight on

5:58 like a pinball table. It's.

6:01 So fun though. This one was kind of annoying

6:06 because you when you're throwing yourself up, there's also these

6:08 like traps that throw down ice and if you touch it, you get

6:13 frozen and you can't move, so you're trying to fling yourself

6:17 off the hit Robotnik or Eggman or whatever it I don't know,

6:21 that just kind of was irritating, but it's not a bad

6:24 fight. Fair.

6:26 But so far, that's probably the one boss I'm not really into,

6:32 but it's not bad. Like give, give it, give it a

6:35 chance like this is. This is really good work that

6:38 these folks did. So that's basically what I did

6:44 today. Besides that couple weeks I've

6:46 been besides gaming, family stuff, working on some other

6:58 little projects, personal projects, been trying to do some

7:02 more kind of like creating my own like audio and shit still

7:09 been doing. It.

7:09 Yeah, yeah. So kind of trying to learn a

7:14 little bit more about other digital audio workstation

7:18 softwares. So that's really all I've been

7:23 doing. For me, I 100% of the secret of

7:29 the mimic, let's go. It was not worth it. 5 1/2

7:32 playthroughs. Oh it sucked.

7:35 Oh last my my secret of the mimic episode.

7:38 I did say I was going to get into why it wasn't worth it and

7:40 I never did so I'm going to do that now is because of all the

7:45 audio recordings you have to play and listen to all of them.

7:49 There's 2224 that's in the whole game and some of them you cannot

7:55 go back to. That was my issue.

8:03 Also getting all the collectibles, that was annoying

8:06 because sometimes you collect a collectible and then the game is

8:09 really weird on the saving. So if you die, you have to re go

8:15 back and get that collectible, or if you quit the game, you

8:18 have to re go back and get that collectible.

8:23 But yeah, that's just why it wasn't worth it.

8:25 It was annoying to say the least.

8:28 And then I also 100% Underdogs, which was on my bingo card for

8:33 2026, although Secret of the Mimic made me put achievement

8:37 hunting in the back burner. I just got the ones on underdogs

8:45 because it just so happened to line up with what I was doing at

8:48 the time. Yeah.

8:56 But yeah, I've just, you know, been playing, having fun.

8:59 Me and Brandon finally tried a what's it called, Dozens of

9:03 eternity God. Is that such a good game?

9:06 It is. It's so good.

9:08 I want to throw more weapons at people, at skeletons faces.

9:13 It's man, I love that. Fucking was it that that staff

9:17 or something or what? What is that?

9:20 Yeah. The the Trident where I just

9:21 wiggle it. Hey look, a boss like Oh my God.

9:29 You're not supposed to fight like that.

9:30 It's supposed to have intuitive like interactive fighting.

9:35 Shut the fuck up. As intuitive as it can get.

9:39 My problem with that game is all the all the weapons, all the

9:42 melee weapons feel like they don't have enough range.

9:45 They need more range and that's why I just throw them at the

9:49 enemies and watch them turn into dust.

9:53 I've been doing that too. It's so satisfying when you hit

9:56 them from a long distance. It is.

9:58 Oh my God dude. I love hitting the.

10:00 Skeletons with a headshot. They just go.

10:06 Yes, somebody took up that boss. So good.

10:09 Let's see, what? What else have I been up to?

10:12 Oh I Reese, I started I Binding of Isaac again.

10:17 I have not played this game in 5 1/2 years. 5.

10:22 And a half is coming up a lot recently.

10:23 That's weird. That was used to be just seeing

10:26 you starting to play that again. I watched literally 3.

10:30 Videos and I thought to myself I should give that a go again so I

10:36 bought. I had afterbirth and afterbirth

10:39 plus so I bought repentance just because I knew nothing about the

10:43 game really. I still know stuff, but I don't

10:46 know what to expect. So I just added the DLC and just

10:51 went with that and it's been a lot of fun.

10:54 It's been frustrating because it's a it is a hard game, but

10:58 it's very fun. It makes me want to do

11:00 everything in the game, not to achievement hunt, but just to

11:04 get all marks on all characters, unlock all characters, get all

11:07 the items, do greed greedier, whatever.

11:14 And you should I've I did say that I want to.

11:21 What is it? What did I how did I phrase it?

11:24 I want to get really deep into a game and just learn everything

11:28 to know that there is about the game.

11:30 Yeah. And I've, I've told you to this,

11:34 but for the podcast, I've realized that that's never going

11:38 to happen because with Magic the Gathering, I, I played it for

11:45 six years now and I've crammed so much Magic knowledge into my

11:55 brain and I'm still learning more.

11:57 There's 50,000 cards, so many interactions, even layers that I

12:00 still have to figure out and learn, which is a whole nother

12:04 ordeal than just rules in general.

12:07 Yeah, yes. And if I can go six years of

12:10 still learning Magic and still have way more to go, it doesn't

12:15 matter what I do, I will be cannibalistic for any

12:20 information that comes my way. Not in a bad way, just I will

12:23 consume and learn and just be unsatiable.

12:32 Well, that's my reality, not yours, so I'm not going to get

12:35 too far into it. Be it as it may.

12:40 Yeah. I mean, that's like us, like I

12:43 told you. Yeah.

12:44 I mean, that's fair. Learn as much of anything as you

12:46 can. I mean, that's, you know, I, I

12:50 try to push myself in that aspect just to like learn a

12:54 bunch of shit, but being an anxious person that sometimes

13:00 could be a little much for me, as crazy as that sounds, trying

13:04 to learn stuff new could scare the shit out of me.

13:07 I. Mean I will say what I do like

13:10 about achievements. It sets a goal yes, and for I

13:18 always go back to it Rubble quest.

13:20 The end goal was to get to G4, which is the hardest difficulty

13:28 S rank. That means S ranking all areas

13:34 of the game in one run. If you even get an A rank on one

13:38 level, you're screwed. You have an overall ranking of a

13:43 Yeah. And that was that was, I will

13:50 say, I know you're not the kind of person for achievements, but

13:54 maybe pick an achievement, Brandon, and just go for it.

14:00 And I have done that. I can definitely tell you I have

14:03 done that. It's a.

14:04 It's a fun way to just set you a goal an an an end and it just

14:10 it, it's fun just to see how far you can get.

14:14 Just push yourself. I mean, there's a couple games

14:17 on my Steam library that I think I just need like a couple more.

14:22 It'd be 100% a game. Like I know I did a lot like I

14:26 did most of the achievements in Sonic Origins because they were

14:30 one, some of them were a motherfucker.

14:32 But trust me, I know. And I mean that that's like

14:37 compared to stuff you've done, Ethan, that that's like nothing

14:41 like I, I can't say like these are the hardest achievements

14:44 ever, but. It's relative, honestly.

14:48 You can say they're the hardest because that's what you've tried

14:51 to do or looked at the achievement and said fuck that,

14:57 I'm not dedicating my time. Well it's funny, this might come

15:00 as a fucking shocker. I I have never beaten Resident

15:08 Evil 4. The original game

15:11 unprofessional. Never did it.

15:13 I assume that's a hardest difficulty.

15:15 It can get rough and The thing is, which is AI guess a good

15:22 thing. When you want to play

15:24 professional mode, you start from scratch.

15:27 You have nothing. You start like you just started

15:30 on normal and the enemies are always going at you.

15:38 Because there is a dynamic difficulty within Resin Wolf War

15:43 that a lot of people don't know the better you do.

15:46 And this, this goes for like, just like normal mode, cause

15:49 professional mode, everything is cranked up and it stays cranked

15:52 up. But in normal there's a

15:57 difficulty where it'll, you know, like like I said, dynamic.

16:01 And the better you do, the harder the game will get.

16:06 Now, if you keep getting hit or die, the game will get a little

16:09 easier 'cause you might notice which is very hard to see.

16:14 There could be 1 area where there could be 4 enemies and

16:17 they give you a lot of trouble and you die.

16:19 Well, one of those enemies might be gone.

16:22 Like the game kind of scales itself.

16:25 It's, it's interesting how that works, but you would never

16:29 really notice. Like it's, it's so weird.

16:34 I never knew that. But with, like I said,

16:37 professional. I want to try to give it a go

16:41 again because it has been a while and I think I've for the

16:44 most part have figured out how to get through it.

16:47 It's just there are some parts of the game that are going to

16:51 fucking suck. Like Oh my God, 'cause

16:58 everything does so much fucking damage in professional like it's

17:02 supposed. To, I mean, again, that was the

17:05 same thing with me and Roboquest, I think the third

17:12 area. What was that those no not

17:16 aqueducts, that was field. Field sucks because that's the

17:20 first difficulty tweaking the entire game and then the next

17:25 level after that. Oh I don't remember.

17:28 I don't remember the areas off the top of my head.

17:31 That might be the city, that one.

17:34 'S not yeah. But it also can suck.

17:42 mark with achievements and like setting a goal for yourself?

17:45 I know you usually set personal goals, not really go for

17:48 achievements. Yeah, a, a lot of my goals are

17:51 more honestly less focused on like video games and stuff and

17:56 more on just like personal things.

17:58 But if I want to think back to like a SES factory, I like to

18:03 set little small achievable projects.

18:07 So stay like you. You know how satisfactory goes.

18:14 You build a factory to do one small task and then you keep

18:18 coming back. You keep improving it over time,

18:21 over time, essentially like that, just setting small goals.

18:26 I want to become proficient at doing just this and then focus

18:31 all I can on trying to optimize as much as I can.

18:35 I I forgot that you're a factory guy.

19:08 video games is what do I know that I can learn better?

19:14 And my drive is to challenge by by like like I take a strangely

19:19 scientific approach to it. Just what do I know and how can

19:24 I improve and how can I get better with my knowledge base?

24:17 this. So certain herbs and shit grows

24:24 on specific grassy soils. So like if if you want like I

24:30 think it's called frost bloom or something like that, you

24:33 actually have to put down snow and plant the seeds for it in

24:37 the snow. Or if you want like some sort of

24:42 like dillweed or something like that, it only grows in the rain.

24:47 So a lot of these different herbs and stuff that you need

24:51 are highly specific in terms of. Continue.

25:17 these what these herbs and stuff allow you to do is they allow

25:21 you to craft different potions, like like potions of healing,

25:28 teleport potions, building potions, archery potions,

25:33 potions that give you buffs, debuffs and just help with these

25:38 circumstances. And in order to do this, you

25:44 have to super size these farms because that's how you actually

25:48 get all enough material to make it worth it.

25:51 And so think of it like this. You have, let's say, 100 block

25:57 wide strip of nothing but mud in a single layer.

26:02 Then you have three spaces of air, so that way your character

26:07 character can walk through it and another layer of the soil

26:13 and it goes down and it goes up and you just cram as many seeds

26:21 as you can with it. I'm.

30:34 deleted the servers of the first one.

30:35 They made a 5V5 promised Pve. Yeah.

30:42 And then they were like, yeah, forget the Pve that didn't, we

30:45 didn't promise anything about that.

30:47 Forget the 5V5. We're going back to 6V6 and then

30:51 we're dropping to two. Oh yeah.

30:54 Oh oh, that's the reason is because their brand or whatever

31:00 wording they used is more than just a number.

31:05 It was some stupid corporate bullshit that they were kind of

31:09 like, you know, it was fucking stupid.

31:17 like class action lawsuit areas of we took away a product you

31:23 paid for, we're trying to make a new product to replace it.

31:42 had to pay 60 bucks for. So my thing, does the original

1:05:31 maintain it, get the staff to support it, and just get it up

1:11:24 for historically what AI has been, has been very discreet

1:11:30 systems to assist with highly complicated tasks such as like

1:11:42 Or yes, say you have an AI to assist with logistical problems

1:11:49 with fitting as many cargo containers on the ship as

1:11:53 possible following a certain amount of rule sets.

1:11:59 You know, very specific problems that the AI itself has been

1:12:06 designed to be extremely good at solving, not just, oh, that,

1:12:13 that, yeah, that's what it's supposed to be.

1:12:26 going to solve all these first world problem issues.
