Welcome to Plug in for Player 4. I'm your host, Brandon.
What are you making that face? For you, I don't know.
He's ready for it. These are my knucklehead
friends. I'm a knucklehead.
And I'm a friend, yeah. Yes.
Yeah. Yes, you are.
Yeah, yeah. Hey, so we finally are now back
in the official room for the podcast instead of doing the
remote session, which actually remote session isn't too bad.
It actually sounds pretty good for what it is.
Especially the website we found. Yeah, that's really fucking
nice. Good old bad weather and all
that shit around our parts. Yep, that was finally gone.
Yeah, we're out of the woodworks.
Yeah, crossing my fingers. Well.
Shut up, no more snow. That's too bad.
We're getting more tomorrow Shut.
Up. And they're sent like 6 inches.
That's not too bad. For, I mean don't.
That's not that bad, yeah. But still, fuck this probably.
Not going to stick to the roads. Probably not.
It's probably going to blow over us, mostly because of the lake.
Oh yeah, true. We'll see.
Now the The funny thing is, the lake has unfrozen.
Yeah. So then lake effect happens and
it really sucks where I live because the lake is literally
down the street for me. So yeah.
And that lake breeze sucks. Oh yeah, it comes in hard.
It might be warm over here but by my parts are OK, but what
have we been doing? Honest, honestly, we've been
doing quite a bit of experimenting with games.
We've been getting back into Terraria as a group, which I'm
kind of happy with. We're playing that tonight,
right? Yeah.
Because I am I am ready to go for the mechanical boss.
No, we already did those for. Yeah, I'm not gonna.
We're we're, we're at. I'm not gonna say.
Yeah, I'm not gonna say either, but I'm ready for.
It Brandon's never played it fully, he's in for a treat.
We're almost there. But you and you and I know, and
people who played Terraria, we know what's after mechanical
bosses for vanilla. So the boss that's coming up two
bosses after, I know what you know we're talking about.
Yeah. I don't want to say where it's
at. Yeah.
I want you to find out where it is.
Yeah. I got to go find this
motherfucker. Yeah, it's, it's not going to be
as hard as you think. Yeah, it's really not.
Yeah, I'll go. I'll go find it.
And then just you're. Going to be like what?
What what is happening here? We're going to be in some
familiar places for a lot of those.
Oh, OK. Yeah, Terraria pretty much has
like one place you go. Yeah.
Jungle. That's it.
Yeah. Jungle.
Hell, back to jungle, Yeah. At least we fixed up our
elevator. Oh my God.
That that was, that was really. But I mean, we weren't really
thinking about making it great. It was just get to hell, Yeah,
Then we'll fix it up. Yeah, yeah.
No, I, I literally, I think the day after we played, while you
guys were playing hell divers, I just grinded on my own personal
world to get a black lens so I can make the optic staff as a
Summoner. Man, I love my fucking
lightsaber, man. Like you're just like.
I just, I can't help myself. That's my tism.
And then? I and then when it sticks to the
ground it does dumb damage. Oh.
Sticks to the ground. Yeah.
I love that when the fucking you see some enemies zoom.
I cannot wait to see what he thinks of the end game swords.
I know. I am so excited to go down those
paths with him. Oh boy.
What's the one that's like a conglomerate of 11 swords?
What's? It's the I think it's like the
true Terrar. Sword sword.
OK so swords in this game Melee is stupid.
Yes. Has a significant amount of
range in this game. There are people who do runs
where it's true melee, where it doesn't go outside of swinging.
Like they're throwing in shit. Or is or just no swinging.
You don't. There's no projectiles, it's
just whatever. Like if it's a big sword it'll
have a lot of reach, but it cuz the sword that you do you throw
it. Yeah yes.
That's not true mate. No quote UN quote.
Quote UN quote. It is melee, but people, you
know, so I'm elitist out there. Like, yeah, hey, I'm gonna make
this harder. Yeah.
Well, I'm going to make it easier.
That's perfectly fine, it's the first.
Playthrough. Yeah, do whatever the hell you
think is fun. Yeah, honestly, just have fun
with the game. But.
But I do want to push you towards the the the true end
game swords because I think you'll have a blast.
Oh my God. Because they they are stupid.
They are so dumb. I want to tell you right now the
optics staff is going to give me a butt load of summons.
I need to I need to work on my Ranger weapons.
Yeah, you do you. Stuck right now.
You, and I think Jack especially need to work because you can
still upgrade your lightsaber, right?
I think so. I think it because I've upgraded
it once so far. I I mean I can tell you if it if
it says. We typically don't do melee.
OK, so then. This is just two.
We don't. Yeah, us two, we don't, Jack
does from time to time. What to ask him?
He has a moreover soft spot for the magic.
The Magic, yeah. And actually another game I can
chain this into is a Core Keeper.
Me and Jack started playing that today.
Yeah. I got a $20 Steam gift card for
my girlfriend. Thank you, by the way.
And it was on sale for 12:00-ish dollars.
But since I already had Deep Rock Galactic, it was on sale
for for even 10 in a bundle, So that was pretty cool.
Got it. And in a party with Jack, I'm
like in this game. So that got him to try it again
because he was unsure about it and we both just started having.
Fun for it looks interesting from watching you guys play it
for a couple for like 20 minutes. 20 minutes we were
playing that bitch for. Well, I saw you guys play it for
20 minutes. I want to say 6 hours straight
and time gone like it didn't exist.
It's a. Fun game.
I think you would like it, Brandon.
Because what? What, what like genre is it?
What is? It so how they described it to
me is a mixture between Terraria and dungeon crawlers.
I wouldn't don't think of it as Terraria.
A lot of the reviews do say it's like Terraria and I can see it,
but it's not 2D. It's kind of top down.
It's not isometric, but it is. Top down, it's a top down, OK.
OK, and you have to mine through walls, you get pickaxes and or
and what the and all that and you have enemies to fight.
That worm thing scared to be going through the map you should
have seen like a giant boar hole in the wall from to go through.
Oh yeah, no, you should see this game we the first time because
I'm the miner, Jack's the the harvester, so he sticks more so
to the base. Yes.
And just tries to like craft stuff and whatever he wants to
do. He builds the the rooms because
there's NPCS in this game as well.
So you can build rooms for NPCS to come in and you can trade
with them and get coins and currency, whatever trade with
them. I'm exploring around so I see
this giant goo trail at some point, like what's what's that
doing here? I pass it whatever.
I go beyond it. There's another point where I
come back to this, the both at the north, but this is a kind of
separate area and there's still that like slime trail.
I was thinking, what the hell is going on here?
So anyway, I go past it again, but I'm still kind of sticking
to it. I start hearing a rumble.
I'm like, what the hell is happening?
What is happening? So I I go back up a little and
to the right so I can try to see what's going on and I just see a
segmented thing just crawling the butt tail of it crawling.
I'm like, what is that Jesus? Like what is the quarter?
Of a screen space. It is huge.
What the? Fuck.
OK, turns out it was a boss. Oh well, I mean that makes.
Sense yeah, but it's just, it's just going around digging
tunnels. I kind of want to get into
playing this with you guys. It's really fun.
How many? Players is it?
I don't know, probably 4 at least.
I would say 4. That sounds like a.
That would be the standard for that.
Let me look it up. But you know, that was funny
because you start off with a wooden crafting table, then you
get copper. You can get more stuff and it's
really cool. You can get rid of the wooden
one and then it just shows the the the copper stuff.
Yes, but there's an up arrow and a down arrow.
So you can if you press the down arrow, it'll go to the wooden
table. OK, crafting, whatever, like
whatever it shows. So you can even though you have
an higher tier, you can still see the lower tiers.
It's really cool how they do it. So then you get 10.
I think right now we're on not lead iron, we're on an iron
crafting table. So we have we're pretty decently
far into the game. I I think you know six hours and
and you. Just.
Have all these things to explore.
Apparently it's also a wiki game, kind of like Terraria as
well, but I kind of ruined Terraria like that my first time
played through, so I'm going. I'm just happy to go through
this one just exploring, seeing what the fuck is out there, just
having. No background knowledge.
Yeah. And I'm.
Just I, I just I'm going. If I miss something, I miss it,
yeah. That's.
Fine by me. Go back to it later or whatever.
That's just. Another discovery to make later
on, yeah. Right now.
That's the way to do it. You said that there were roles.
Can you explain the roles? Are there just the two or I mean
by roles so? So or is that?
More self-imposed well. I mean, I'm the minor, I just go
around digging for resources. Jack kind of more so he sticks
to the base he needs as explorer, but he more so sticks
sticks to the base and thence the garden and all that kind of
stuff. But that's I I could do
gardening whatever as because each they're each kind of thing
I'll say in the game gives you experience and this could be
garden like pulling up roots, cooking food mining, I.
See what you mean Dealing mainly.
Damage. Range.
Damage Magic. Damage, so Summoner damage.
So was it kind of like stirred you values system where it's
like the more you do something the better you'll get at it the
over time? I wouldn't say better, but you
definitely get upgrades for it because there's let's say the
minor, I think the first upgrade is you get 2% mining power,
additional mining power, then you get 46810.
There's 5 levels. Every 5 levels you get of the
actual skill itself, you get one skill point, and then you can
put that into each individual skill on the skills for you for
that specific skill. Kind of sounds confusing, but
each 5 levels give you one skill.
Yes, and each skill has five skill levels.
So you can only get I think 4 Max because you have to Max one
out in order to move on to the next.
OK, OK. Yeah.
So I'm kind of going to can mess with your things and it takes
200 coins, which is not really that hard to get to reset.
Eventually you find an egg and you can hatch an egg and get a
pet and the pet can help you. Like for example, I'm Summoner.
I recently found a bat that's a plus one minion capacity.
Cool. And when you start the game, you
can start with a proficient like minor demolitionist, herbal
herbalist, stuff like that. So, but after a while you can
pretty much pick whatever you really want to, even though you
start off with, you know, maybe a couple bombs and maybe a skill
or something for Demolition or Level 3 and demo, I don't know,
whatever. Yeah, yeah, OK.
But it's, it's a fun goal, it's a fun, it's chill, it's
whatever. Granted, it's kind of hard.
You take a lot of damage. Fair, fair.
You can die very easily. So it is.
So it's getting a little bit of a skill involved into it, yeah.
Yeah, OK. Not really.
That sounds fun. That sounds interesting.
I like. It.
Brandon, do you want to talk about the golf game?
Oh God, that's right. Yeah.
I am. So fucking sorry, Mark.
Yeah, it sounded like your wife wasn't particularly happy with
you. Oh, it wasn't just her.
It was not. It was.
It wasn't just her I got. I got mad and like after that I
like I caught myself and I'm like fuck, like I mean I wasn't.
I don't want to say I was like mean, it was just that, you
know, like split, like, Oh my fucking God, you.
Know. And I'm like, you know, you feel
bad, you know, and all that crap.
And no, he was playing the game exactly as it's supposed to.
I was going to. You you need to explain the game
for the people. So basically, so so it's called,
what was it, Super Battle Golf? Yeah.
Something like that. Yeah, just.
Keyword soup like. And, and for the record, it is,
it is actually a lot of fun. It really is.
It is a lot we were having. A blast?
Yeah, not quite. Literally.
But so basically you're, you're doing like holes of golf and
it's. So.
You're it's not like golf with your friends.
Yeah. So it you're all taking your
shots at exactly the same time, but instead of your perspective
being the ball itself, liking golf with your friends, you're
the golfer. Yep.
So you're, you're hitting your ball, you're running around and
the golfer, Each hole is to be the first one in, doesn't matter
how many hits, just placement into a positioning, placement
into the hole is what matters. That's what gives you points.
That's what makes you win. What's A twist with this is that
you can sabotage all the other players.
You can use your Golf Club to knock people out for a couple
seconds and they can't take their their shots, or you could
pick up abilities to wait and you can be a Dick.
Yes, and I mean major Dick, because what Mark over here
decided to do is buy the fucking ability things.
He put minds there that you can't really see what.
I guess like an ability like a special special I I.
Would I I for some reason when I walked over to the abilities, I
kept getting landmines. And so every time anybody would
walk over a landmine, it would blow them up.
It would also blow away their ball too.
And so I decided, you know, the game tells you you need to be a
Dick. Like like straight up in the
marketing. It's like be an asshole, just
your goal is to win. It sounds like the.
Building is burning around you and Patrick just landed.
Everyone's gone at this point. Did.
Anybody see my butt? So I decided, you know, I'm in a
very competitive mood, so I started laying land mines at the
ability pickups. God.
Oh my God, yeah. You can see where this is going.
Each time you get to land mines you get 3 of them and I was
getting them repeatedly. So what's funny is what what
what ticked me off was not the and this is like, in hindsight,
this is really fucking funny. What Mark did.
Like, seriously, it was actually really fucking funny.
As I said what I said, I was grinning.
So I guess I truly, really wasn't angry.
But because, like, put it this way, you'll know if I'm actually
pissed off at you. It's a fucking game.
But yeah, I I'm literally bi, OK, I am by the fucking hole,
OK, And I am get ready to hit this in to the the ball in the
fucking hole. What does Mark do?
He's in his fucking go Kart, runs me over and launches me
into the fucking water and I'm sitting here fucking
flabbergasted. What I just fucking endured and
you know, like, what the fuck, man?
This close, Ethan, if you would. Have been there.
You would have been, yes, you would have been dying.
I was so fucking mad. Like I look at Mark you father.
Fucker. No, that game would piss me off.
I think you're better off staying the fuck away from it if
I'm being honest with you. If there's games where you can
fuck with your friends and it it's it's one of those where you
can go really far to fuck with your friends.
No, I'm good. Yeah.
You see why? I took I I was given the inch
and I took the mile. So.
I mean, like I said, Mark played the game exactly as it's
intended, right? And honestly, I'm kind of with
you. If I were to play this game, I
would do that. Yes, it's.
It's like the marketing, the gameplay mechanics, they all
tell you be a Dick. I just, I couldn't.
It was just, I wish you guys would have seen my perspective
of when he hit me with the golf cart because he wasn't going
that fast. He's going fast enough, you
know, and it was just. Love Tip no.
More than I'll fucking love but like.
But he was off my peripheral view so I couldn't see him.
So as I'm getting ready to hit this, he fucking punches me with
the God damn first fucking cart, you know?
And it's like I couldn't even be fucking mad.
It was fucking stupid funny this.
This reminds me of when I went out the windshield and under the
car and lethal company. That that fucking send.
Me, that's how. That fucking felt because you,
because I swear, like correct me if I'm wrong, Mark, but I swear.
There was an audible thud which? There was like, it was like Bob
and. The work and and the probably
the funniest part for Mark, there's proximity chat.
Oh. Yeah, so as I'm.
Going into the water, I'm sure I probably got quieter.
Mark, you motherfucker like it was, it's.
Brandon, we've got to wake. Up.
But what? What?
What? Pisses him off about us is that
he has to go. So there's checkpoint respawn
checkpoints. As you go down the hole, he has
to go to the checkpoint and he's got to walk around a spiral to
get back to the center of the holes.
That's the way this this hole was designed.
Yeah, just. Cut through.
Nope. You touch that water, you
drowned. Oh my.
God, yeah, you. Can't swim, so you have to.
You have to go around, you have to ball.
The hole it is, it is a very fun game, but you have to go into it
knowing that your friends are going to fuck you over and you
can't really be mad about it. Like I said, I couldn't be mad
when he hit me with the fucking. Like, it may have sounded like I
was pissed off, but I was grinning like a motherfucker
because it was so stupid. It was so funny.
I. I pissed off everybody in the
span of 20 minutes. I would say you really didn't
piss off Jack. You really didn't piss him.
Off. No, it's kind.
Of hard to piss Jack off because when you fuck with him, he fucks
with you even harder. Oh yeah.
Yeah, so he'll. Never get mad at you, he'll just
fuck you over and that's what I love about him.
Like I I swear it's funny as fuck.
Jack, we'll remember that, yes. Like he, he's very, very quick
thinking, yes. And.
Fucks you and it's Oh my. God, you know, there, there have
been times where I fuck with him, like I'll just like maybe
move his chest over in a game one pixel or whatever.
He's like, all right, I showed his motherfucker in.
You want to play that game, huh? Or.
Like like in hell divers, cause we've been doing a lot of that
or, or over the past couple weeks because of cyberstand or
he'd be like, OK, I'm going to kick Mark and I'm like, all
right, I turn around and I fucking shoot him the.
One, 'cause there's a kicking emote.
Yeah, and it actually physically does kick.
Kicks and it damages you too and you fall to the ground, stunned
you. It also launches you so I
remember I watched Jack kick Mark and Mark went fucking
flying. Shit was fucking glorious.
We should, we should probably get to the yeah.
I have one. More thing to say, I remember
when all of us were playing Not you Brand, we all of us were
playing Stardew Valley and we were fucking around with each
other. I took a bear statue, went
inside Mark's home, placed it down while he was inside.
This was in the morning or something and he was like, you
fucking asshole. My vindoors feel like even
picking up I can just get my mouth.
I I was literally trapped in my house.
I couldn't. Pick it up to move it.
Oh, you. Oh, you trapped him in the
house? I went into the house and you
know how there's one space before the building actually
opens up? Yes.
I placed it in that. I I placed it in front of that
space. So no matter which direction he
came from, he couldn't get out of his house.
Dick. And he's like, my inventory's
full. I can't do anything.
I'm like, what the fuck do I do? I'm trapped in my own home.
Well, I'll. Say this and then we'll get to
the topic. What really fucking sent me was
when you put all those fucking signs in my Minecraft.
How? That.
Were all. Just your mom's, yes.
That was so fucking it wasn't. Even your mom.
It was all restarting. No, no, it.
Was. It was.
Your mom, That's right. I remember you didn't.
Even see that first I was hoping like you would spawn downstairs.
Whatever they come back from flying wherever you're flying,
mining, whatever. Come back in your house.
Just a wave of your mom signs everywhere.
I know you spawn. Oh, that was my bet.
Quite literally, I I joined the server, I spawn where I was.
This is a. Minecraft, by the way,
Minecraft. And I, I spawned where I'm
usually AM in my house and literally in my view, your mom,
I stood there for a second looking at all these signs like
what the why, You know, like what the what the fuck AM Ethan?
I I OK, I like to do a harmless pranks.
Yes, there. Was.
One time when Mark was building the version one of a cathedral.
Let's actually get to the topic. After this, I built quote UN
quote among us like 7 of them around his building.
Oh yeah. It's right the amogus.
Jack still has his in front of his house.
But so the topic for today after 25 minutes of.
Recording one more I like the fact that you kept one restart
side because I. Forgot I didn't I I forgot it
was there and. Now it just stays there because.
I didn't, it's the one that got away.
I didn't take it down. So it stays.
Yep. All right, the topic.
OK, Yeah. So yeah, our topic today is some
of our favorite video game soundtrack.
So who wants to go first for this?
I mean. I can go first.
I kind of have a loose thing about it.
Jack gave us this picture of it was it was one of those things
where, oh, for every day of the month there is another theme and
it's overall theme is soundtracks and video game
soundtracks. But it's like day 16 Game music
from a license game, day 17 boss theme music, day 18 title theme
music, stuff like that. And I kind of filled it out.
I can go over a couple. One of them is on this one.
It says day 15 music that you get that you never get tired of.
You haven't heard this, but it's in Terraria calamity mod.
It's universal collapse. Yep, it's it's one of it's
probably the first big wall. Of.
Terraria And it is such a good boss, it is such good music and
this music has two phases and I love, adore both of them.
It just gets the fight just gets more and more intense as it goes
on. Calamity.
Bosses are wild. They they're like for a mod, it
is incredible the amount of work that they put into it.
And this is. Free.
Yeah, Yeah. Yeah, that's.
Kind of wild to think and they. Still are going to add stuff.
They're still going to make changes to weapons, albeit very
slowly. Yeah, very slowly, yeah, but.
It it is just incredible the amount of work that they put
into it. I honestly applaud them.
Yeah, I can even complain. It's it's free, It's literally a
mod that you can download on the workshop.
It adds like 5 new Tech Levels to the game as well as new area
spawns, new factions, new enemies.
Yeah. Like just new spots on the map.
The underground sea that you saw, Yes.
Hell, there's still the divide. No.
What is it? What's the?
The Abyss yes, the. Abyss.
There's still the abyss. You haven't seen that.
Oh God. What's cool is that it's got a
mechanic where you have to have the right equipment, otherwise
you die due to the pressure. Yeah.
There was one time we were digging, digging up to the
bottom. We were trying to, we were
trying to cheat the. System with like oh just go to
the bottom, get the stuff at the bottom come out.
Dead. I I, I was the one digging.
I dug 2 squares up and like OK I'm going to jump in grab the
walls that way I can continue dying or or continue drilling As
soon as my head touched the pist pixel just gone.
Dead. Yeah.
No, he was gone because no. Health.
There's gone. There's kind of.
Layers to this abyss where you take increasing damage unless
you have the right equipment, yeah.
If you go. To the bottom with none, you're
you're dead. You just automatically just
fucking dig up dead. Because it goes all the way down
to hell and stops. Yep.
Yes, that's so really. Gay.
We'll just get the good loot right away at the end.
Nope. Nope.
And that's why. I I I was just God.
We're. Like, Oh my God.
Oh yeah. Overall, Terraria.
It's just great soundtrack all around.
Very good, can't wait to actually hear this thing.
Oh, you're going to go. Through that, you know.
If you're if you're the person that likes to go through
emotions when playing, when listening to songs, Oh yeah,
that's. Me.
You're going. To feel it, that's going to be
you're going to feel the music. Like literally you're going.
I feel I don't care for music a lot.
Yeah, I just, I focus more so on the game.
But I feel this fucking music every time I play Calamity.
That's how you know it's good. Yeah, that that's, that's cool
coming. From me, yeah.
Yeah, what about you, Mark? I've got one for Destiny.
Yeah, I, I told you before we start the recording, I cannot
wait to get you into into reading with us regularly.
One that always stands out to me is called Deep Stone Lullaby.
OK, so. Essentially in one of the raids
we get to a space walk section and you're out on a space
station and you're looking out over Europa and you just have a
piano piece playing. Hell yeah.
Oh. It is beautiful, yeah.
It is just simple piano notes with I think a synthesizer comes
in at at some point. But it it is, it is beautiful.
I, I, it is, it is my favorite part of that raid.
That is the part that I am going to turn off everybody's voices
and I am just going to vibe and enjoy it as long as I can
because it it is it is one of the shortest sections of the
raid, if I remember correctly, because it's just transitioning
between 2 boss battles yes and and so I, I, I cannot wait for
you to hear it Ethan, when you get some free time, just listen
to it It is you'll probably. Have to send it to me because
I'll forget. OK, I just send me a spot if I
I'll. I'll send you a YouTube.
Link. It's on that too, yeah.
OK, but it it is gorgeous. I've I fell in love with it when
it was released in 2020 and I still highly regard it as one of
the better songs from the game. It is just, it is gorgeous.
It is a beautiful work. OK.
All right. Yes.
What? About you, Mr. Brandon.
What you got? Oh.
May hey. May you?
So this one you guys won't really know, but Jack, it's a
game called Captain Wayne. So I still need to finish it.
I just I got and I told Jack this.
I got kind of frustrated with it.
There's a it the game gets hard. OK, It's it's like it's a Doom
shooter type thing. Yeah.
So kind of an arena shooter, yeah.
And it gets brutal and it doesn't matter what difficulty
you're on. Oh.
No, but. It is great and the music in it
is for me, it's like like kind of like Doom's music, but you
guys would have to hear about it's like heavy metal type stuff
like that. I believe it was the third
level, that music, that piece was good.
It was just, it was heavy and you're just shooting everybody
up and shit with your fucking like gun leg and shit.
You know, it's a very enjoyable soundtrack.
I just got to get past the, the kind of learning curve the game
has cause the game doesn't really throw a lot of ammo at
you, but it is it is a fun time. It's a funny ass story.
You're like some like fucking captain that I remember
correctly. I don't know if he's trying to
like get his shit back or something like that.
The, the, the, the developer for this game.
Great job. It, it, it is a lot of fun.
Just understand it is a little difficult, but that's probably
just a problem for me. Yeah 'cause I mean I've played
Doom and it Doom gets fucking difficult too.
Yeah, it's just those arena shooters.
You've got to kind of know where to place yourself and keep
moving. Yeah, yeah, a great.
Soundtrack, heavy metal rock, kind of synthesis kind of
synthesizer stuff, but mostly like rock and boy man, I'm
fucking even on my steam deck man, I'm fucking rock it out
shit, it's highly recommend this game.
Seriously, it is I. I forget how much it is, but
it's not much. So.
My next, my next game. I mean, I have one specifically
written down from this game 'cause it's just so beautiful.
It's there's, it's a game called The Messenger.
I think I've talked about it on here before.
You pretty much are a ninja entrusted with a scroll and you
have to take the scroll wherever.
And this game is all an 8 bit. Yes, it's an. 8 bit platformer
and you don't it's it's kind of like the old school ones where
it's can be really difficult, but it just also isn't once you
get to know it's not too it's not too high of a skill ceiling
I should say and it's a it's a really fun game.
You have different areas and different themes.
All these bits and chirps burps burps burps from the music from
the 8 bit music is fucking divine.
But the hidden thing about this game is that there's a point
where you in shift to the future, all the sprites change
to 8 bit. Sorry 16 bit.
I remember you playing. This all the movement.
Of the characters and everything change to 16 bit, the the way
the game looks has changed to 16 bit and the music.
Changes to 16. That's cool.
That is such a cool fucking concept it.
Is. Everything about it, it's just,
it's just so cool, like swapping back and forth between, you
know, the past and future and just seeing how the animations
have changed and what not and how the music changes.
It's just so fucking cool. It's, it's, it's also a really
funny game though, because you have the shopkeeper with this
this roped guy and you every single time you see a shop, you
go in and be like, Hey, what's up my guy?
And he maybe he'll tell you a funny story or something.
It's not the soup that is too hot, it's the spoon that is too
cold. That fucking sent me.
Oh my God. But no.
No, the music is beautiful. There's there's one in one in
particular that I absolutely love.
It's called the ritual beach boss.
And this is from the totem boss that I'm pretty sure I was
playing in this exact room one day while you guys were watching
me or whatever. Yeah, yes, that was a brutal
fight, but it's music was so good.
I'm so fucking good. The whole soundtrack, it's one
of the few games that actually I wanted to go back to areas just
to experience the music again. That's how good the music was.
Yeah, in this game is so fleshed out.
It's great. It's awesome.
There's when you think you're done with the game, it keeps
going in a good way, Yeah. And then it just keeps happening
like four or five times. It it it's awesome.
That's. Awesome.
All right, Very good. It it, it is like I said, the
the mechanically like just going from 8 bit to 16 bit back to 8
bit is like, yeah, that. That's such a unique thing and.
Sometimes you actually have to go into the past or the future
'cause it will change the layout of the room.
So sometimes you're sitting there.
How am I supposed to get up to that ledge?
There's a portal at some point that.
You go through and it. Becomes 16 bit or you got to
jump back over the portal and then go through the portal again
the same direction that you came through it the first time.
And then there will be a platform to get up to the ledge.
It it it's kind of it's a puzzle platform a little bit, but it's
it's a platform so good. It makes me want to replay it.
That's also all. Right, all right.
What about you, Mark? You got another one I want.
To throw back a little piece of distalgia, the meteorite Easter
egg music from Kino du Toten. I was thinking about oh, right,
right. Right, right, right.
Right. Yes, yes, Sir, You just.
Find all three of the meteorite fragments and you just get a one
time use of a rock song. I can't remember for the life of
me the name of it. I could tell you.
What the name is you know 11511. Five.
OK. I thought 115 was the.
I thought that was the origins one.
No, because that's the one I remember, you know?
115 is keno, no? No, the one is something of
annihilation. Beauty of annihilation.
That's the one from. Yes, Yeah, that is some like, I
mean, it's on Apple Music, yes. It is, and it's Spotify.
And all that. Oh yeah, dude, that.
And what's what's cool is the like, I know the like the singer
is like a woman that doesn't. If I'm correct, she is also the
one that screams in the song. That's cool.
Kind of lit, yeah. I I just love how in the middle
of of playing a zombies match, you just have a rock song that
you could unlock just for one, just for one play of the song
and you could just go ham vibing to it.
Oh. Fuck yeah and Keno.
My fucking most favorite map I got, God, couldn't tell you how
many times me and Andrew have gone through it, man.
And we've gotten kind of far too, yeah.
Yeah. It's kind of brutal when we've
gotten so far and then you get both of you guys go fucking down
and shit and it's like. Fuck yeah.
I couldn't tell you how many times I've played through
Origins doing, doing the Easter egg because you have, oh, man's
land or whatever on the inside. Yeah.
Yeah. Where you have the maze walls
come down. Yeah.
You get to the point of the Easter egg where the maze walls
no longer appear. And like, that's kind of the
best area to train zombies around.
Now it's I, I know all those maps I think are yeah, on Black
Ops 3, Yeah. And I've if at some point if
whenever fucking Black Ops 3 goes on sale.
Get them and just play through them.
My. Thing is, I don't like that.
It's not because you know, I'm I'm an elitist being the old old
ones are better. It's just those maps weren't
made for Black Ops 3. They were made for the time they
were made in and so they feel better in their original form.
Because you're not. You're not slide wall running
all over the fucking place in Keynote or Toten Fair.
I mean, but that that's. Just my opinion.
Yeah, no, I could. I I honestly really didn't think
about that. That honestly makes a lot of but
if. If you still want to get, you
know, Black Ops 3, don't let me stop you.
Well, I'm. Just I'm just thinking for the
accessibility of one game and you can just get all the maps.
Yeah, I think. You have to have the last.
You'll see though it could be wrong on that.
I don't like the the Zombie Chronicles.
That's what it's. Yes, that's Yep, that's what
you. Get to get all the maps because
I I've had Black Ops 3 on steam for a long time.
I also had Black Ops 2 and one with all the two.
It's funny I I know I've said this before, I didn't really
play 2 that much. I played.
Too because when I when I got when I got my Xbox, my Xbox 360,
pretty much my first online console that's what my parents
got me that's it was best Call of Duty.
So that's a good one to start off on I.
I definitely can say that I never really played too much of
two either because I really played it for the the campaigns
at the time that's. But yeah.
Didn't you play a lot of at least multiplayer with me and
Chris I? Played with you guys on, on, on
and off with it. I remember.
I think, I think Jared played with you guys more.
No, I'm starting to think, yeah, you, you didn't play it.
Maybe I'm just thinking more. You played more than I thought.
Yeah. Yeah.
It was like, all right, get home from get home from school, hop
on the Xbox, play Black Ops 2, like multiplayer, play zombies.
Yeah. You don't care for the.
Campaign that doesn't exist to me yeah, I still.
I still remember how, and I don't know why, but how excited
I was for the first Black Ops. Holy shit.
And what's kind of funny is that game actually helped me
reconnect with Andrew after so many years because after I got
out of middle school I really didn't see him.
You. Know.
Like he he moved and went to a different school, so I I didn't
see him that much. But being able to play that with
him was great. Yeah.
You know, like. The fucking quick scoping and
shit and how fucking hard it was.
The quick scope and the original Black Ops.
Jesus Christ. I was a oh God, yeah, Andrew.
I don't know how it is man, but he always fucking destroyed my
dumb. Ass Jared was just the same way
with the interventions. I don't know how.
Oh yeah, the interventions I will.
Say, getting us back on topic and I'm I'm going to take, you
know, out of order, but I'm sorry, this is just a game
that's so dear to me. It's it's so God damn difficult.
It's a Bosch rush bullet hell. It is called Fury FURI the the I
believe it's the credits song. My only chance.
It's such a weird combination of like edit together notes, I
guess of like a woman singing and it's in the way of, you
know, just put together. And especially when you play the
game, you're walking around this grass field in the grass that
you're walking upon just dying. It's it's a hard game.
So I don't expect don't go if you like music, it it has some
pretty good music, but don't play it just for the music.
You're going to piss yourself off.
Yeah, 'cause there's a boss probably halfway through the
game that it's just hey, we heard you, we heard you like
this game. Here's a difficulty tweak.
Yeah, great. But it's it honestly is one of
my favorite it. Sounds like it's a good reward
for the effort you have to put into it.
I get. I mean, there's still more after
the credits. Oh yeah.
OK, actually. Probably.
That's funny. Yeah.
I'm like, oh, so I'm done. Oh no.
You completed phase one, I know. The fucking the next boss just
rolled up his sleeves, showing off his fucking biofueled arms,
kind of like Bane or whatever, all the stuff flowing through
him and just all right buddy and open wide.
Say. Ah.
I I do want to talk about the game just a little bit because
go ahead, go ahead. It's it's a boss rush, bullet
hell and you fight against, I think what's called the jailer
at first pretty much the tutorial boss, pretty piss easy.
And then you get to the siren. I think it's called these.
All these bosses have nicknames, but there, there's some unique
bosses in there and all you have to fight with is a sword.
Yeah, you have a gun. You're not really supposed to
use it, but like you can, I think, I think you can break
enemies while there's charging up.
There's there's something with the gun, but your main way to
deal damage is this sword and it has pretty tight controls of
between movement and trying to parry certain attacks and you're
going to fail. OK, I I'm definitely going to go
into this game more in detail in a later episode when yeah, when
the chance arises, but my my only chance from fury.
Look it up. It's great.
I'll have to play it to you guys after this.
OK. Great what you got.
So I'm not going to talk about this game too terribly much
because I don't want to spoil anything for Ethan.
OK, but. Sonic Mania I was.
Going to bring that on on this list.
I'm just going to say it versus Metal Sonic.
Yes, I had to think about that for a second.
Yes yeah, fuck yes, me. It's hard to choose like a what
what song I like the most that's.
That's me with what is it the messenger?
Yeah. I so I would say like my
favorite level in Sonic Mania is definitely Press Garden.
I think it's ACT. 2. Or just press garden in general.
Because the first, the first act you go through like a like
newspaper press fucking area. And then the second act you go
through kind of like a kind of like Japanese thing.
That's all I'm going to say. But the music for that And the
second act, God, is it fucking pretty.
And then Studioopolis. I have seen something play
through that, I'm not sure if it's you or Jack, but I have.
Oh my. God, T Lopes is the man behind
it and it I mean, he he did good.
Like seriously, it's probably the best Sonic music if I say so
myself. But I am kind of excited for you
to play play it. I'll get around to it.
And it's not a very long game. So I mean, that's just how those
classic Sonic games are. Yeah.
I mean, unless you're going to, you know, if you're going to go
from start to finish with the game, it's probably a few hours
or something. If you're just going just
through the levels and not doing like special stages and that
kind of shit, If you do the special stages, you're probably
going to want to learn how to traverse it.
That's all I'm going to say. They're not that bad, but they
can be, you know? Trial by fire is what I say.
Yes. No, but I think that's the thing
that's stopping me from playing the game right now is I have the
mental block of how do I get through this level because.
It's probably. Going to confuse the fuck out of
me and frustrate me even though it's simple as follow the dotted
line, yeah. In all reality, for most.
Levels because that's usually how Sonic games are.
Just follow the dotted line for most most.
The last zone may trip you up before the boss fight, yeah.
I'm sure once I get into it I'm like oh OK, yeah I expect this
but but I. Will say the level design that
Christian Whitehead and the others did head cannon and all
them is probably some of the best level design in my opinion,
because a lot of it is straightforward, but also your
reaction. That's that's a big thing with
those classic Sonic games and really Sonic in general is how
fast can you react because you get rewarded by taking another
path that's faster, but it's also more difficult.
You know, I will say Sonic Mania doesn't really have A at least
in my opinion, it doesn't have a like here comes a spike of
difficulty. It's kind of just levelled out
and gets harder as you go. Not like a certain other Sonic
game. God, that's like some PTSD
fucking bullshit. Fuck you superstars don't play
that one. Just don't just just just just
stay away from it. Got it boy like the fucking
plague. It's not that bad, I know, but I
did the boss fights are fucking ass, but you know, Sonic media
great soundtrack. If you haven't already listened
to it, I'm sure everybody's probably listened to it.
If you haven't, go listen to it and play the game.
Maybe buy it physically because classic Sonic.
Do you guys mind if I sweep in here?
Yeah. Yes.
I've got an honorable mention all of the classical Minecraft
or the classic Minecraft music I.
Started, I started at 1.8, sorry yeah, 1.8.
So anything from that era just yeah, just stalled you. 360 days
man, when it first came out just.
Hearing that, hearing that eat pit music, just so good.
I will say the new. Sounds the new song Sorry Sounds
songs are beautiful in themselves, but.
Just the. Sheer nostalgia of the original
soundtrack. Yes.
It's just it takes. Me back when I hear that fucking
piano, piano bum, bum bum bum bum bum bum bum.
And hearing that, that transports me back to fucking
2010. Right, like you.
Know it's it's. It's like a ratatouille where he
takes the bite out of the meal and he goes back to being a kid.
Yep, that that'd. Be how it is, man.
Like like, like, like even put it out.
The music's the new music's beautiful in its own right, but
it just doesn't feel like Minecraft.
It doesn't hold the same nostalgia and every.
You're putting words in my mouth.
It it's definitely new music. And I do feel like it does fit
Minecraft. It's just when I first heard
some of the new pieces, I'm like, wait, this is this is from
Minecraft? Like, not, not that I've heard
it anywhere else. It's just the yeah.
The nether music throws me off. Oh I love the nether music.
I can't recall it right now, so I can it's kind.
Of scary. Go.
Into the server when you get a chance and just listen to it.
It's. It's.
Eerie. It's.
Eerie. It's it's a nice change from
what it used to be. Yes, but it it.
I it just it doesn't hold the same to me as it is the old
music and. Probably, yeah.
I mean, it's more nostalgia than anything.
That's not. For sure.
Not saying that the song is bad, it just.
It just doesn't resonate with us because I'm a woman.
We've been playing the game for so long.
Yeah, I mean. It's the same thing with the
texture updates. I I I love the original textures
for all the blocks except glass that can go fuck itself.
I'm happy with the nuclear gravel texture too.
Yeah. That old gravel texture was
awful. I just, I have nostalgia for it.
I can't, I can't say, but I also.
Hate gravel in fucking general so I can't say much I like to.
Use it in bathing I mean. Yeah, that works, but now you
can just take a shovel to some dirt and make some path.
There you go. Done.
Yeah, another. One I have is Robo Quest.
I wouldn't say it has as many bangers as the messenger, but
the final boss music, what is it called Here, let me pull it up.
The final boss music in particular is probably my
favorite. It's.
A. Final metal hero, not full final
metal hero. OK.
And because in the game you play as a robot.
So yeah, Robo Quest. But it's it it's kind of, I want
to say more chilled dubstep like because I used to dabble in
dubstep or good 10 years ago, but it's I would say a more
chilled dubstep while also being upbeat at the same time.
I don't know how to describe it. Maybe I'm just I'm a bad
describer. Whatever.
Give give it a give it a listen to the soundtrack.
There's plenty of areas in the game.
Even the even the title music is yeah, the title music is pretty
good, actually. Speaking of title music, Monster
Hunter world title music. That was my first Monster Hunter
game and it's just sometimes I would just sit there and just
hear that flute, whatever instrument just going and it was
great just sitting there and chilling to the while the the
grass suede of the Coral Highlands or sometimes they'd be
the rotten veil. Great that every monster, not
every, but most monsters in that game, Yeah, have some good
soundtrack. Yeah, they have.
Some really great soundtrack I'm sure.
If you ask Jack, he could name off 10 easily off the top of
his. Hair I wanna.
I wanna give a shout out to Jinda Hod's theme from Wilds
with the. Organ music.
Yeah, organs. Oh my God, that is an underrated
fucking instrument. More songs, More songs.
Need chimes 'cause there's a lot of chimes in Calamity mod yeah
that's underrated yeah organs are also underrated they're.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, no Jinda ha man, fuck.
Just did, yeah. Like it's so fucking good organ.
Music just overplaying the fight is awesome, yeah.
I mean the piggyback off you with the with the chimes.
There's one song in Ultra kill. I don't apparently it's
spoilers. I think Jack said, but it's
Tinibre Rosso sang you. I think I said that wrong.
There's the the organs in that is it.
It starts off pretty light, but then probably a good 10 seconds
in, it just hits. And it hits hard.
Every time I listen to the song, it, it just makes me feel
powerful. Yeah.
It fills me with energy. And like, I could just punch
somebody, punch a bear in the face and just explode it from
the inside out. Yeah.
I could find a bear A1. Inch punch.
Just turning it into a fine red mist.
Poor Yogi. Bear.
You said it was a Yogi Bear. It could have been a polar bear.
Oh no, that's those are terrifying.
That's what it does to me though I feel like those are one of.
Those are one of the only animals on the planet that will
actively hunt you. Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, they see humans as prey.
They're bucking. Horrifying.
Yeah, they're cute. But deadly?
There it is. God damn it.
So I think we might have time for one more.
Almost there. I know also Jack would say this,
but the the boss fight music for Sonic Frontiers.
Let me tell you, you fight these giant fucking beings, OK?
Is this a Sonic's first open world?
Open zone, as I call them. But yes, open world.
But for Sonic being Zone, open zone makes sense.
Shut up. Yeah.
What? It does.
Let's learn what the fuck it's name is.
It's a world where you go into zones from previous games.
I hate you, so you know I'm right.
It's the boss fight music for all these bosses you fight.
I think there's before the like final boss.
I think it's three Titans that you fight and you're doing this
as Supersonic. You're like beating the fucking
shit out of these fuckers, man. Like Jesus Christ.
The fights are fantastic, but they're heavy metal music and
it's done by the the lead singer from Sleeping With Sirens.
Ellen Quinn sure is really yes. Damn, because when the the first
song I think is it's like on something undefeatable.
I think it's called real for. Real.
That ass recap, yeah. Just undefeatable.
Undefeatable. I'm going.
To throw this mic at you, I don't think.
I. Won over there.
Young and no Mark. 'S going to toss me out the
window now. OK, let's not do that, no.
It correct my ankle the. First time fighting this boss.
Like I at first I really wasn't listening to the music because I
was like ending this fucking fight because it's so cool,
right? But I'm like, wait, what the
fuck? Like I'm listening to like this
is fucking great. And then it hits me.
I'm like who the fuck is the singer?
But what the hell, It sounds familiar.
And I go look it up and sure enough, it's Kelly Quinn.
And I'm like, no. And it's like, it's kind of
screamo. Really.
Yeah, and a fucking Sonic game and I'm just fucking fighting,
fucking punching this motherfucker in the face and
shit, Yeah, bitch, you know, like, like, Oh my God.
But then I can't talk about Frontiers without the the game's
actual like song for. The game, the title song, the
title. Song I'm here Now, This is by
somebody else. I can't remember their fucking
name, but the great fucking song too.
But then Kellen Quinn did a version of that for the DLC that
came out. It was a free DLC that you get
to play as all the other characters.
Sonic is out of the picture, he's doing his thing and you can
play as Amy and Knuckles and Tails.
The thing with this DLC music is great in it too for how much I
played it, but it is a difficulty spike and the reason
for that is because people were bitching and complaining that
Frontiers was too easy. Oh.
No SO. Sega went OK, so you think it's
too easy. All right, here you go.
So sort of the same situation that we got with Monster Hunter,
yes. And The thing is my my brother,
OK? He is.
He is good at video games. Yeah, OK.
Like he can get through some harsh shit.
He stopped with this Wow because the the boss fights, when you're
supersonic fighting the Titans, it's a lot of button mashing,
but with these Titans you're fighting in this DLC are way
fucking harder and they hit harder.
And Patrick said he was, he couldn't do it anymore.
His hand was visibly so fucked, like he was cramping.
Damn, so. He's like, you know, this ain't
worth my time. Yeah, but I, I will say playing
as the different characters is pretty cool because even Tails,
he gets his cyclone or whatever I think it's called the Cyclone
from Adventure 2. That blue Mac he has, you get
that and you fucking fly around everywhere with it.
Amy, she's got like a double jump and some other things that
make her really good. Knuckles flies, glides.
You know, it's Knuckles. So the, the, yeah, that deal
season, I try, I played it for a little bit.
I didn't get very far 'cause I'm like kind of already went
through Frontiers once. I'm like.
Yeah. But music?
Godly, I was going. To say that the one song that
you brought up, where did you say The Black Keys?
No, what? What band did you bring up?
Sleeping With Sirens, that's. What it is it, it reminds me of,
'cause I listen to power metal, so I'm just occasionally
listening to power metal. Whatever I come across a song,
they're the singer singing whatever.
And then all of a sudden the singer changes into a heavy,
distinct Swedish accent. And of course, 'cause this is
what he does best. Joakim Broden from Sabaton is
just singing in the middle of the song.
The song doesn't say featuring this guy.
No, he's just. There, he just appears.
And this happens in like 15 different power metal songs so
far. It's it's, it's just what he
does. And I'm like how I'll come back
back around to the song just listening to it and all of a
sudden it's joking again. And I'm like, oh right, I forgot
he's in the sun. It just happens.
That's awesome. That's funny.
It's it's. Really funny.
OK, well, before we before we wrap up, can I throw in another
honorable mention? Yes.
Oh God. What's his name?
Mick Gordon I think. Oh, Doom, that's right.
Gordon. Gordon.
Gordon, his works in Doom Eternal in Doom 2016 are really
good too. Yeah.
It's just a shame that Bethesda fucked them over.
I. Know.
Yeah, they really did a number on that relationship.
They really severely fuck them up.
If you don't know what we're talking about, go look it up it
you'll find stuff about it. If you if you want a synopsis,
suffering artist does not do it, do it justice.
Yes, like. He's, he's probably suffered a
lot more for that position than some people probably do, yes.
But I will say yes, Mick Gordon, without a doubt, very good.
Composer. Yeah, best.
For Doom now especially. For his use on old what was it,
old Soviet synthesizers too? Something like.
That yeah, because. They get that heavy basal tone
with the with the with the guitars.
He's a. Phenomenal artist, yeah.
Now I will say with the Dark Ages Doom game, I forget these
two guys that have that did the soundtrack for it also really,
really good. They they did a very good job.
It's just it's not MC Gordon I. I still need to play through
Dark Ages to really stay because I I, I haven't heard the music I
think. It's it's, it's good.
It is very good. It it kind of reminds me of MC
Gordon a little bit, but it's it's like own thing.
Yeah. So I I would say that the those
two artists, 2 gentlemen did a fantastic job on it.
Don't discredit their work. They did good.
Yeah, we just miss Mick Gordon, that guy.
Miss we do, but I think that's it, right?
Yeah, we're good. All righty.
Well, thank you for tuning in to plug up a player for it.
I'm like Ethan and I one episode where he was talking really
fucking fast and I couldn't understand a God damn word.
He was like. But we appreciate you taking the
