Hello everybody. Happy Halloween. Well, almost Halloween. Fuck you, yes. Welcome back to Plug In for Player 4. For player. 4 Where are you the view on the player? Four. Yeah, I'm your host, Mark. I'm. Your host. That was Ethan. I'm player 4. Yeah, surprise, surprise. We have a guest star. We have my wife Emma with us. Say hi. I'm wife. Hi, I'm Ethan. I. Don't know who the fuck I am. Go on. Don't worry about it, you'll figure it out. I don't, I don't, I don't know anymore. I tried doing what he did last episode and it didn't work so now I'm upset.
It's Mark. He's he. I am the king of bullshit. I am the king of bullshit. I'm. Just not really here. Fair enough, fair enough. You can only do it for so long until it actually starts tripping me out. And I, I just wanted to get you that. I know I. Know I hope everybody loves. I'm going to do some Halloween music in the background. Yeah, fuck yes. Yeah, today's episode we're going to be doing a little bit more relaxed. We're not going to talk too much about video games. It's more or less just going to be us kind of bantering about Halloween, the Halloween kind of family life going on and whatnot and just really a.
Little different. Have a have a little chance to just kind of talk about ourselves. Yeah, you better sit back, relax and don't touch that dial joke, son. You're not like. Myself. Oh. No what? The fuck was that? Don't touch that.
Dial No. He he like a body. Jim Carrey for a second, yes. Yes, I was trying to think like. Familiar. If you want to talk about video games, I thought of PT when he said that. Oh really? Touch that dial now. Oh boy, that's what I. Had to go for was like that old radio. The radio, the the the Atlantic accents. I wasn't going for any accent, but yeah. That that game, I, I love that game so much. It's. Didn't they bury that man? They did, yeah. In the fucking desert. I was, I was pretty pissed off because I was, I was excited to see like, what the fuck is this going to be, you know?
And then, yeah. Crooked Lisa stalking you in the corner. Dude, man. Watching her shadow and behind you do. You know she. Goes. Outside. I didn't know that so. When it first came out I used to watch silent commentaries on it so it would just be the sounds of the game that you would hear and you can hear her twitching behind you. You can hear her. Moving outside, just the worst thing of like the dripping blood from the refrigerator. You hear it in bass. It was just so awful. I hope that got picked up.
Oh my God, that was so good all. Right. Note to self, don't put the mic so close to my wife's face. But make sure it's there. But yeah, no, if you want to ever listen to that game, listen to a no commentary version. It's disgusting, but I love it. I. Might do that now. Actually, honestly, there's a few on YouTube and you you'll hear them. OK, Yeah, you can even pay attention. You'll see like, more things in the shadows when you don't have some idiot talking to you about what's going on in the game.
Yeah, yeah. Or them talking about their cat while they're running through a building there. Yeah, that's fair. Yeah, I mean. If anything, for this Halloween, I'm kind of 'cause you said you had a costume, I'm kind of excited to see it. I think what me and my girlfriend are going to do again is wear a ghost costumes and get more pictures 'cause last year we kind of got pictures outside your house a little bit. Yeah. And then we mainly got pictures at my culdesac when it was dark and whatnot, like there's.
You just don't fall again this. Time. Oh my God. Wait, what? Wait. Who fell? Yeah, it was Shelby that fell. I remember 1 of you guys fell and. Got hurt. Why are you guys like tripping fell? I mean, I remember there like there's a video where she was like in the woods, but like, was this at your house that you're talking about? OK, I don't. I don't remember that. I just, I just remember 1 of you 2 falling. It doesn't help that our driveway is like gravel, gravel and hilly and. Holes not really lit up.
Not really a driveway. Yeah, it doesn't exist. There's some gravel and there's some grass like wow poking through. It used to be a gravel driveway until her dad just shoveled it all off to the son of the house. Oh my God. That's awesome. Yeah. But yeah, no, we got like, we got pictures of the cul-de-sac. There's one like Shelby, she has like, kind of sad eyes. I was supposed to have angry eyes but like I look like. You look dopey. I just look, it's more it looks more like shades, like I'm just like nonchalant or just like whatever about things.
But it was supposed to be angry. But she's got. Top Gun Maverick. Ghosts, like there's one like where her legs are just like sticking out and like just hurt. Like with her sad eyes, she just looks like she just looks defeated. And so I put a blue filter on and everything. So just really sad. There's one picture where it's either me or Shelby, I can't remember. Like we were just checking my mailbox. Like we literally opened the mailbox and I looked in and took a picture. One where she's looking up at the street light, one where my hand is like poking from underneath the cloth and just on my like while I'm sitting down on my chin.
It's funny. Funny pictures, that's all. Yeah, yeah. It's a simple costume, but it was really fun to work to take pictures with. I I favorite shit with Halloween. I don't know. I like, like I don't have that many memories with Halloween. Like, I guess like as an adult. We'll make them. Trying. Especially with us, you'll definitely make a few well. Yes, is this. Your first Halloween with us or? No second. Second, OK. Second, yeah, OK. I mean, to be fair, my family kind of likes Halloween parties because my aunt and uncle went to a friend's house as a pair of boobs, so.
Like 1 individual yes. Jesus. And they were tied together in a giant bra. I wish I had a photo of it still. I'm sorry, I hate those kind of couples. That's it's not funny to me. It. Was funny when you didn't expect it. Yeah, yeah. They're like, yeah, it was a big Halloween party. We went as a pair of boobs and there's tons of bacon to eat. I just, I just, oh. My God, we're just like what kind of situations do you 2 get into? It's fucking. Hilarious. I'm not sure if I would laugh at that even if it was sprung up on me.
I'm like, it's just, that's embarrassing for me to hear. Yeah. So you would say it's cringe? Yeah. See. Stop trying to use the children's lingo. Lingo nowadays man, I'm I'm to Wolford I. Feel like I need AI need a dictionary to understand anything these kids are saying. Yeah. Yep. Just giving you how it is. Get out. What else? I want to vomit.
Yes. Halloween. I think they Halloween. One of my new favorite traditions is giving out Pokémon cards at Halloween. It's so the past few years they've been releasing these Boo packs for these kids. They've got like packs of three cards and just watching a little kid run up and like fistful a couple of Pokémon cards. It's just so funny to. Me. Yeah, yeah. They're like, yeah, they're like, they're like screaming because. They they never expected. Yeah, I mean, like, it's going to sound kind of shallow, but I've always wanted to be that house that's like got the big candy bars.
Yeah. Gifts. I always love those. Houses growing up and we don't, that is awesome. We don't got a lot of those in our neighborhood anymore. That's kind of what this house is because my mom is always like, oh, you come to the end of like walk all the way down to the end of the street and, you know, give out the big candy bars because, you know, they made where there's only half houses on one side of the street, which is really fucking weird. Yeah, yeah, there's, there's just no houses on this. Side No it's not.
So it's just. Grass. To make the investment, to try to go down that street right, takes like so much time because it's like you got to make it worth it. Like you can hit the houses down, but on the way back there's nothing because you already hit the houses. Yeah.
I mean, our our street there resolved my brother's friends, their family, they do the whole big candy bars and I've never always I'm like candy bar come. On yeah, your neighborhood looks nice from what I've seen. Oh yeah, it's. Other than that one guy, no. There was a guy, I was outside when I was leaving, there was a guy walking his dog. He's like, hey, mind if I ask you a question? Like, yeah, I guess. And he's like, do you know where, Like what house were you just at? I'm like, this is fucking weird question.
First off. Like he was like he was asking for the numbers 'cause he was trying to find a specific number. He's like, oh, I was at, you know, this number. He's like, oh, so I should go this way, 'cause like he was looking for a smaller number, not a bigger number in terms of, you know, address numbers. I'm like, I was just the weirdest. I think you even asked or something. I don't know, maybe I just told you about it. I think he told me, but I don't remember. It was just the weirdest fucking thing.
He's like, OK, I just turned around and walked away. I'm like, what just happened? Did I just give my friend murdered? Yeah, no, our, our streets always been like decent and it's also there have been the past couple years for Halloween, there haven't been a lot of kids around, but. That's how this neighborhood is when I when I was growing. Up, kids. That's the thing, yeah. When I was growing up as a kid, there was kids everywhere in the street. Now there's just no way anywhere. Here, Yeah, yeah, like there's still are some, but there's not as much.
As part part of it is that the city does candy giveaways like open open trick or treat bags or something. Yeah, it's like when you go to somebody's trunk or their car and they've got it's like there, it's like a giant parking. Lot of people. Yeah, trunk or tree? Yeah, that's what it is. Oh my God, it's such. A it's, it's hosted by the actual city because they're like, well, it's safer than having the kids walk around at night and it's being hosted by the police, the firefighters, the the emergency squads.
And so it makes sense, yes, but at the same time it just ruins the rest of the Halloween for regular households. 'Cause I was gonna say that kills it. That's not Halloween. Yeah, it's really not like I understand one and like the kids safety, but like they're I don't. That was the. Thrill. Watch your damn kids. How about? That. I mean, yeah, exactly. But no. We from my grandparents house. We actually live on a larger St. that's like a really major hub in the area for the houses down there. God. Yeah, you, you're living a long ass St. Yeah, yeah, our street is.
Connecting. Streets too, with lots of connecting streets in the center of just kind of like the where everybody's living and there's tons of haunted houses and tons of people doing stuff. So it's like a really big popular spot. So we we never really noticed the decline too much, but it yeah, yeah, it's always like, oh, there's like 10 or 20 kids less than the previous year You. Know I feel really dumb because I never thought about this until you said this. Right now I'm surprised I never went trick or treating around.
Your. Neighborhood, it was just with friends in general. Like sure, I've done it like maybe here or there, but it was always like at my street. Yeah, yeah, yeah, No, we had always tons and tons and tons of kids come because it's such a nice center of gravity for trick or treaters to come through 'cause again, there's tons of houses all up next to each other, dense, really densely populated, just tons of people doing events at their house like haunted, haunted house tours and stuff. Like it's it was always a popular spot.
So even even with truck or treat, it's still very popular, but it has gone, it gotten a little bit noticeable, especially his, you know, people are moving out in a way for jobs, better opportunities and just to have kids elsewhere. I mean, a lot of the cities started to become just older folks, so. Yeah. Not too much activity if you go outside like the the more popular spots. I mean, I remember when when we got laid off. Yeah, or. Whatever we I went to this Halloween party with a couple of friends, Tyler and Marcus and our buddy Josh.
That was that was a fun time that honestly was nice after getting laid off. You know, something to do some fun. You. Know I've also got invited again this year see if I want to go or not. But it was it was cool to be around a lot of just different people after getting laid off. We did like lightsaber battles and shit and that was kind. Of cool. That's.
Awesome. And and they also had this fucking this like ring on a string that you have to like toss and it like goes in like an arc. Oh. Yeah, it goes on a hook. Yeah. Was it like one of those drinking games or? Kind of, yeah. Kind of like a yard game or something. Yeah, but it was in the garage, which is funny enough. I was pretty good at that. Like there were a couple. I got it a couple times. That's awesome. I was, man, I was so hyper fixing and I'm like, I'm gonna fucking hit this. We're gonna do this.
OK, but I love those like weird games that you never think of, but it's like super fun. It's super simple, but it's super fun. Yeah. And it's like, why? Why isn't this anywhere else? That that's what I mean, like it's, it was so simple. Could be looked at as like dumb. Yeah. But it was much fun. And everybody was into it too, man. Like I had people behind me like, come on, come on, come on. You know, like it was, it was, it was a nice time like that. That's like that. And God, I stayed the night because I wasn't going to be driving home because I was drinking.
And unfortunately, we, me and Marcus had this on the floor. Damn. And the carpet was not comfortable. Damn. And Tyler? Tyler was with us too. He slept in the chair next to us. He didn't get a slick asleep. None of us did. I remember driving home like Oh my fucking God this is bad. You brought home and crashed. A few hours after I got home, Yeah, yeah, 'cause I, we went to bed at like 4:00 or 5:00 in the morning. Shit, I saw you. Oh my fucking. God dude, like you you're bringing up the games Reminds me this is not Halloween related, but I actually tried axe throwing at my old job.
Oh, you actually did axe throwing? Yeah, at my old job, so. It's a fun. Time I did, I did like data processing as at my old job and I would my, the company I worked with, even though I'm located, I had to go to Pennsylvania for this. So this is a pretty long drive. Yeah, but I got there. I think this is like their summer meeting or something and they have the cornhole, whatever the previous years. But then there was a yeah, there's going to be an axe throwing thing. You have to sign a waiver and everything.
The first XI threw fucking stuck bullseye. I think like just be stuck in there perfect like I can get into this. This is pretty cool. This is. Great. Yeah. I'm always like, I wanted to try that like X story. It it could be very dangerous. Oh fuck yeah, that thing bounces. Yeah, there was 1 I think where it didn't like come too close, but I I was still even every single time I threw it, I'm like. 'Cause you're worried, man. Yeah. Like just is it gonna come back and get me in the arm if I throw it and it rotates too fast, Right?
Yeah. Or like if it bounces off is it gonna like? Come back in. Yeah, you can just, yeah. I could see where you'd be nervous with. That like I was prepared to like jump or dock or move or whatever. It reminds me of when I was a kid back in Scouts for February for our February camp out. It was always called the Klondike camp out because we're camping outside in the snow at the coldest time of year. And the whole point of it is to for tons of different troops to get together and to compete in different games to earn points, which you could use at the end of the camp out to get stuff for your troop.
Like, you could get tents, you could get sleds, cooking equipment, stuff that your troop could use for future cook camp outs and whatnot. Anyways, one of the activities was tomahawk throwing. Oh, God, yes.
Yeah. So we're pretty much out in an open field. There's a bit of wood elevated off the ground. That's your target and you're throwing the tomahawk and it's essentially just the same as axe throwing. Well, what happened to me was I threw it, the axe kind of rotated upside down somehow and stuck into the wood, and the handle flew out and kept going.
Oh my God. The X head lodges in and you see the handle just continue down the its band. Yeah, amazed. It just it, it kept going it it's. Dangerous. Yeah, it was even. It was even like the people hosting it and be like Oh my God. Yeah, they're like, oh, that come bad. If you want to talk about dangerous, you need to know the stupid shit I used to do. Yeah. My dad used to give me throwing knives. OK. Now, I always grew up in shit apartments, and if you know anything about a shit apartment, they're small.
OK, so when you're like 5 or 6 years old, throwing knives in the house, what happens? They bounce. OK, so my dad used to have this dartboard in the wall. It was rubber.
It had rubber lining all over the dartboard. So every time you miss, it bounces and there have been times when you see all the scars that got in my body. I've hit myself in the leg too many times. Imagine like a four inch throwing knife getting chucked into the wall. That's the reason my mom doesn't let us have this kind of stuff anymore.
And I can't even have a candle in my own room. That sucks man. It really does. You really miss out on the candle s'mores.
I just want my room to smell nice without having to like spray a bottle and low effort just, you know, light it and leave it and. Then and then you just have the candle glow so you can turn off lights, right? But but The thing is, is because of my sister, like she had candles and she like, you know, left them on without like whatever, like she left the room or for the day or whatever, and she would just keep them light up and, you know, they have to cause a fire or something like that. And it's like, I'm not her.
Yeah. Whatever. Yeah, that's, I know that feeling. I mean, you can have a candle in there if you have one of those like melters. I know it doesn't have the Max. Welters are wonderful. Yeah, I mean, I wouldn't mind a wax melter. That would be something. You can get special Halloween ones for this Halloween episode. Whoa, whoa.
No, it's not a sponsorship. No, it's. Not a. Sponsorship. If you go to. One, my wife just really likes candle stuff. Do you? Know how many candles I have? A lot. Oh. Trust me, Shelby likes candles too. Like I. Have a closet. Oh my God, A. Closet full of. Candles. Shelby has some. Do you have decorative candles too that you cannot burn? Yes. Yeah, Shelby has some of those. God. You would, Rebecca. I am getting scared. Like, so this closet I have. So you know this closet? Yeah. It has coffee mugs, baking equipment and candles and like random vacuum cleaners because I don't know why it's a good place to book though.
It's so like, if you open this closet, it smells like every kind of candle that I have. No my so it smells like a. Wax. Like no. No, no, it smells like a perfume store. Yeah, the perfume. That's exactly me with smell. Like so quite literally it's like you open it and you smell gourmand, which is like cookies baking and shit, and then you've got apples and berries and fruit. And. Fruit. And it's like, it's like fisting you in the face when you open this closet. No. Yeah, don't ever open that closet.
Or nor Yeah. It's the one downstairs. The big one. Yeah, that's my big closet. That's my story. I don't think I know that closet is. Probably wise. Yeah, that's a good thing, yeah. Because the kids stink cancels it out, so it's kind of neutral down there. Anyway. So this isn't. Sorry. Gone. Gone. You good? You good. I'm not. Good. I'm just thinking about the candles now. I was. I was going to say something. I was going to say my. Quest here I. Was going to say maybe instead of something being under bed you can put candles.
Under his bed be for real. Yeah, actually, yeah, yeah. Yeah. So I know this isn't really Halloween related, but the at the time of this recording we are underway with the Steam Next best right? The whole demo stuff. I think I found another obsession. Is it the vampire survivors like? No. Oh, OK no, it's a simulator. Uh. Oh. Drain. It's like unclogging drain simulators. I saw you playing that. I'm like what the fuck? And no, let me. He's been out of a job so long that the only way you can get a job is by playing a simulator.
Virtual loving. So no, it's literally, literally you're like this fucking hero in shit. You have your plunger on this on your fucking belt and shit and you go and you unclog drains like outside and it's 1. The game is pretty as fuck, like the water looks really nice, like it's a nice looking game. I think it's Unreal Engine 5 or something. If it justifies it being a plumbing simulator, what are you? Doing it's not. It's not a plumbing simulator. It's the same shit you're. Still not. It's not called that though.
Oh. Yeah, they probably get copyright strike. Five maybe, I don't know, but we. You get a PED strike against you for having a plumber in your game, That's really nice. To break something. The the deck box is destroyed. Nice. Does that happen? I think, I think because so there's a bunch of shit in this room over the weekend that we were recording and I think when they moved this, they kind of crossed the button. I think all the cards look fine. I mean. That's what matters. That's what matters is the cards.
Yeah, we're talking about matching together. Yeah, what's funny is I bought this Magic the Gathering deck and I haven't even played it. It's not even slaved.
OK, well then you. Can play it. Yeah, so. Speaking of magic, Dylan's been starting to get into magic. Let's go. Oh. God. Let's go Jess and Dylan. They picked up the Spider Man collection. Oh, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. That's a dog shit set. That's fucking that's below app. So he's he's learning how to play it through the mobile app. Arena. I think. If it's Arena, that's actually a really good, that's a good. I have no idea. He just decided to pick it up randomly. I think it was a Sunday and he's he's sitting on the couch just fiddling away with it.
I'm like, what are you doing? Play with actual people who know what the hell they're doing. Well, no. That's the thing though about Arena is that it's a very, very good learning tool. But like when, once, once you get past the learning part of it, then you can actually like, you know, you know what you're doing. It's not wrong to play in real life and learn that either, but it's just how good of a free online learning tool it is. Because that's what I did, and you can play against actual people.
Or or bots. And some of them are fucked, man, like some of these people, man, they and. That's why I don't play. Or, you know, piss me off. I like having fun, not my debut. Yeah, boy did I'm how many days mine were fucking ruined, Mark. Yeah. It's not a toy, Ethan. It's not a toy. OK, y'all can touch tips in the other corner. We'll finish this episode.
OK. What's your favorite Halloween memory when you were a kid? When I was a kid. When you were a kid, do you want? To go. Yeah, you, you go. I'm going to think familiar. I mean, it's, I don't think it's exactly a favorite, but it's definitely one that sticks out for me. So I guess in a way a favorite. There was one year where my parents were like, yeah, let's have a Halloween party. And like, I think me and my brother could like invite three people each. So I obviously invited you and Mark. I invited somebody else and then randomly there's this guy named Ted at school.
And this was elementary school. Yeah. And I invited him too. And like we all have like custom gravestones, like made for them. Like what? I remember this so. And we made him rhyme too. And so the the one, the only one I remember that I made was Ted is dead. Yeah. I couldn't remember what I put down for you, Mark. Like. Marking by a shark or something, That's awesome. Where's? Ted. Yeah, I mean, he's a nice guy too. Yeah, he was. Ted is dead. I just randomly invited. I'm like, you know what? Fuck.
Like just random. I'm not a person to just go up to random people and talk, even as a child. Yeah. So the fact that I did that, he's like, OK, sure. Yeah. I'm like, that worked. That worked well. And it was, it was kind of a cool party that my parents hosted. Yeah, it was great. I. Do you still have that? By the way? Is that long gone? Yeah, it's long gone dude. That's like 2 households split up. God. Fair enough, That's fair. I wonder if Ted still hasn't. I do probably. Not yeah, probably not. Most of us don't keep that shit.
No, I mean, dude, it's like 20 years down the line, so. I mean, I would be the kind of person to keep that just as a member. I keep trinkets in a box, not a giant toy. Who put you on the planet?
A sensible soul. I guess the so I want to say as a kid for me, but I remember. Be a kid, damn it. No. You can't be a kid. You never went to Chuck E Cheese's, dude. I didn't go to Chuck E Cheese, you Dick I. Just got shot at 1:00. Oh, I think I went to one once and that's it. I forget you grew up in really bad areas. You. Know what's even worse is that wasn't even a bad area. Oh really? That was Mayfield? Oh, like the nice part of. Mayfield, Oh my God. Sorry to steamroll you for a second. No, no, you're good.
You're good. No. That's used to it. This is so there's a Chuck E Cheese in Golden Gate. It's over in Mayfield. Very nice. Wow. Decent area I should say. Nice compared to where she was living at the time. I wasn't that old, but I wasn't that young. This was when my brother was like 4 or five years old. He used to throw tantrums and everywhere he went. Yeah, no, I think he still does. He still does, I think. I'll talk about that later. An adult still does. So yeah, there there was this man that came in.
He was very special. He literally whipped out a gun and was like, hey, look at this guy's and like literally almost shot somebody. Duh.
It was just some guy came in. No security, might I add you. This was before like they even cared about their kids really. Because, you know, Chuck E Cheese is one of those places where you come in and you sit right down. You can you let your hair hang out? Yeah, you hope your kids don't get taken by a pedophile. Right, right. And quite literally, like people could just walk in. So now they require you to have a kid with you when you go in there. Yes, they do they. Really. Yeah, if you're over 18, you cannot.
Go in there. But this was before that rule. So this guy just came in and he was hanging out with his group of kids and he's like, hey, kids, look at this. And like, literally, he just whips his gun out of his pocket because this is Mayfield, you know? You know. Fuck. Oh, hi, that's great. Normal Saturday. Normal Saturday. Anyway, your Halloween special over there. I'm. Special. I want to bleep that out, yeah.
Yeah, This is why it's called explicit. I'm about a. Fair enough. I mean. The people who listen to what there? Was I noticed? Funny enough I noticed this is in the leisure category. Might want to like put in the video games category if it's not in there and or games. I think those are. This is just the Haberdashery episode to. Be fair, it's not actually I talk about video games, no, I think. Like because when I look it up and I see it, it's like, oh look like. Slice of life, yeah. It just says leisure you can.
Just make a separate category for holidays. I mean, so wait, so you're seeing this on what? On Spotify, when I look it up, it says leisure. I mean, really? Yeah. But when I look up another video game podcast that I listen to, it says video games. It's a yeah, it's supposed to say so why? Does it say leisure? That's supposed to say leisure. It's supposed to, I be sure of that fucking. Spotify. I know, right? We love you Spotify. Sponsor us. Yeah, that'd be great. I mean, give us money. It's great.
Actually. No, I love it.
I like leisure tag. I'm gonna. Make leisure. Tag, I'm gonna make sure I change the shit now can you just name it Leisure Tag? I drive. It's a new game idea. Write that down too. Leisure tag. Now my freshman. Year play, You're really lazy.
Brandon, you may speak. My freshman year of high school, I remember hanging out with my buddy Zach, like his family for Halloween. We that year, I got a lot of fucking candy because we, we hung out at his grandma's house. Like her house was right by mine, like straight over. And we hung out there for a while and then we went around the different streets by my, my house and it was so much, dude. I had this fucking like pillowcase fucking full of candy, dude. It was so much. I don't think I ate all of it.
You just unlocked poor memories. I is it given to speak? Yeah, yeah, yeah. OK, OK. So I remember as a kid, I mean, like, this is probably a kid sized pillowcases. But like, I remember as a kid I would like hold out my pillowcase, be like trigger tree and whatnot in this neighborhood back when there was kids all around here. And I just remember coming home, turning that bag upside down and just all on the floor and just like sorting all the candy being like, I don't like this one. I like this one.
I love this one. I. Don't know, that's a core memory that I completely forgot about. I missed trading candies with my with my brother and my sister. I don't. Think I ever traded candies just like just whichever ones we didn't like we put like in a communal bowl and whoever wanted to. Date. Yeah. No, we, we, my sister, brother and I, we laid ours out, separated them into little piles. And then we started negotiating with each other. Yes. Trying to trade for the best pieces. That's how it should be done, yeah.
And see that that wasn't me and my brother. Yeah, a piece of candy.
We did ours the smart way though. So most of my life I hung out with my dad and we both had the common brain of take two pillowcases. So when you would go to neighborhoods they'd give you a shit load of candy and you run out of space in your bag. You take the next bag that's empty. Sometimes if you're lucky, you get the old people that forget you, so you go back to those houses and you switch more. That's awesome. We were so bad. And I felt bad because like you can always tell the people that really, really had the little kids that should have just been, you know, taking their handfuls of candy and leaving.
No, we were. We were going to houses that gave the big candy bars and taking them all. Aw. We were bad.
I mean, I get it, but also, aw, yeah. We were. We were bad. Well, all right, we have a recording.
The police will come for. Cotton 4K. Cotton 4K. Ma'am it was more of like 2K background. Wait, wait wait, what's 4K? An audio version. I don't. 4K Good speaker, good speaker, good listening. I guess that would be. Cotton base. Cotton base.
Look at them. Trouble. What? Were you gonna say sorry? I I think that would be considered lossless. Cotton lossless cotton losses. I got. I think that's probably about as far as you can go with that. I mean, it hurts. Decibels. No, that's you. That's. Your cotton decibels. Cotton decibels. See, that's a face. She regrets for burying me I. Wouldn't say I know a certain somebody and Marcus told this story about how this person, at first they were like, man, why is he screaming so much? But then afterwards like he's, no, he's quiet.
I can't go to sleep without him yelling. Yeah, we have very therapeutic screams, apparently. Did you guys like to go to haunted houses a lot when you were? Growing up? Nope. No, actually never went to one. Really I need to change that. Well, you saw how I was a haunted house, I think. I've been to a haunted maybe like a carnival, like a haunted house, not like an actual. So controversial yet brave. 7 Floors of Hell is kind of like the bitch want to go to, so if you want one, that's that. That one's.
Like a bitch one. Yeah, if you want one that's like not really scary, that would be for you. Me personally, I'm going to shout out to Akron, Akron Schoolhouse and Laboratory. If you want your shit rocked, that's where you go because they can touch you. It's even better. Yeah, I'll. Look at the center fever and shit that yeah. But like I'm OK with it because like so when I was a kid I had a fear of leather face for obvious. Reasons. There, I think it's the end of laboratory. There is a section that you go through that it's just Leatherface chasing you through and he could touch you.
So he would be grabbing kids by the arm and yanking them around. So the only way you would not be allowed to be touched is if you had like a it was like a light on your chest. I think it was like a glow stick, but I didn't have a glow stick because I wasn't told that you could do that. Oh no. I was like maybe less than 10. Oh no, did. You pee your pants. No, damn it, I did scream like bloody murder because this was one of those costumes that looks believable. It was one of. Those ones where it looks like a professional.
No, no. He's gonna steal my skin. No. It was so bad to the point that at the end of it, I think I ran. So at the end of this part, you get to go through a school bus. Yeah. And there's people on the school bus. I fucking booked it. So because that was the ending of it. That was the end of the whole thing. I fucking ran through it so fast. I think I saw an actor look back at me like, is she OK? I've never, I've never had such a bad experience in my life, but I'll never forget it because I loved it.
Like as I get older I think about it more and more and I just want to take you and torture you with it. I look, I don't know how that's gonna go cuz you saw me through some floors of hell. Yeah, but this? Fucking with the actors, trying to make friends. But like I said, you know, controversially a break, but that one really sucks. Yeah, it's literally, I mean, the one kid was high. Yeah. We we were going through this Egyptian building. So the way 7 floors of Hull works, each building is a different floor.
It's a different theme. So the one building was like this Egyptian cavern that you can I think it was a pyramid, what it was and you can walk through these rooms. It was muddy sand, just a disgusting. Yeah, but because it was so dark, they actually give you a Lantern for this one. Oh God. There were these, I think they were high school kids. They had to have been. But this one girl, she followed us because we literally couldn't see 2 feet in front of her face. And she was just talking about getting high with one of her friends at the end of the tunnel.
That's how jank that 1 is. OK, yeah. It makes me so sad. Hey, that's fuck. Yeah. So some of the houses are great. So like there's a there's an asylum one on there that was. Pretty good. That one's probably my favorite. I don't think we got to do that one. I think that was the only one we skipped because it was already closing time. Yeah, but it was so cool. You can watch all. So this one has actors that walk around and each actor's theme to the area, and you would have like patient zero walking around, fucking twitching and following you around the area.
Yeah, really. What was it, the barn one that you were messing with the guy? Yeah, there's one. It was a, it was a corn maze and we're walking through. Guy walks up to his. He's like the last one with me, has to stay with me forever. And so Emma and our our two friends go through past and I'm staying there. I'm like oh OK cool. Look I'm like you like football. The guy just starts chuckling.
When I tell you this one is like so jank. What is? He starts. He starts chuckling. He's like, go on, get out of here. I'm like, OK, I thought it was beeping. I was like, I finally got one of them to pray. You know, going back to the the Akron one, there is a really cool room. It's actually a bathroom. So the schoolhouse in laboratory is quite literally in an abandoned schoolhouse. Oh, I'm good. Oh hell. Yeah. It's in a legit abandoned schoolhouse. Not even kidding. Like I'm talking chasmophobia.
Creepy. That's fucking cool. Yeah, so there's a bathroom where there's a skeleton sitting on the toilet and he'll actually talk to you because there's somebody behind like the it's like microphoned to a person in like a warehouse somewhere who's talking to you. And he'll sit there and make jokes and laugh at you. It's it's towards the end of the schoolhouse, but it's so funny. And it's actually one of those ones that's hard to find because people just leave it. They run through it. Yeah, that's that's.
Fun. He'll start singing too, I think, if I remember. Yeah. But it's, it's just a guy on a mic, you know, somewhere else. Walking you through a camera. Yeah, Yeah. Well, she's Speaking of phasmophobia, Halloween stuff, Good old blood moon that. That's just been kind of fun, like a life. I'm just trying to play it more, but some people don't like to play that game too much. Well, I've been having a good time. In the home, sure, you'll play it with Brandon or by yourself. Mark's never played it by himself.
I'm. Not saying Brian, I'm saying you. Oh, I play it by myself. I don't care honestly, it's more scary by yourself. Oh yeah, that's how every hurricane is even lethal company. I refuse to just lethal fucking. Lethal. Company honestly I'll be real with you guys I don't get scared from. That it's not scary, no. But playing alone though, I don't know why it's. Playing alone is definite. It's different. Yeah, now with friends, it's. Just so. Stupid. It's more funny. It's a shit post SIM. Yeah, like, I know it doesn't sound like well-being by yourself is scary.
When you're in a dark room by yourself with random noises, yeah. Yeah. It's the ambiance. Yeah, it definitely. Is it's definitely the ambiance
unless you like odd the fucker then that's who's my art cards. No, Mark has this habit of lifting his arm up and whapping the wall. He does it at our house too. Not even kidding. It's not hollow.
Well Speaking of haunted houses as well, did you guys ever like when you were trick or treating go to houses that were made into haunted houses? I have never known. Really. No, this this neighborhood never did it. And we never we, I don't think. Yeah, I, I think. Growing up, I don't think we ever left this neighborhood to trick or treat. Yeah, maybe so. Maybe like my sisters or something once but. So not really like haunted house, but they like made it like creepy like walking up to like the door to.
Knock or whatever like. That's probably about it for me. You guys would have loved our house then because again, most of my childhood was with my dad. Me. We were fans of horror and anything gross and I have some fond memories of the ones we used to do, but the best one I think was our butcher shop. My garage has seen a lick of paint a few times and. Paint. Oh yeah. We used to put on some cool ass haunted houses because my dad was somebody who he, he, he kind of took inspiration from places like Akron with like scaring the shit out of kids walking around.
So I would be the one who would do the candy bit. And I remember this butcher shop. You might have seen pictures of it. Honey, I've seen pictures. We tripped out the whole garage to look like a butcher shop. OK? And we included, like the plastic on the walls, pig bodies. Thing. Oh yeah, no, we we went I. Remember some of the props that you guys had left? Yeah, we in the middle of the table there was a guy whose head would spin. Oh my God. And that's where we would put the candy is right by the head and there's like a sensor bar and he wouldn't move.
Jesus. Christ, Yeah, No. These poor children we had, our neighborhood was little children, too. I remember. And I still think about it to this day. I wonder what happened to this poor girl. She was in this Cinderella costume. Cute as can be, sweet as pie, little girl. My father was in a pig mask with a butcher's outfit. He looked like honestly from Texas Chainsaw Massacre bad like blood head to toe. He had the mask on. He was chasing this poor. Girl and. I felt so bad because I think she's, if I remember, I think she was crying because we used to have this tree that blocked the view of the garage and he would hide behind the tree.
And if you know anything about my street, we don't have St. lights. So you've got these little kids with these little tiny phasmophobia flashlights, these little dinky things that you, the ones that the ones that you get for a dollar at like the dollar store, you can't see nothing with them. My dad would hide behind this tree and I remember this girl because she came screaming out from our driveway because he hid behind the tree. It's it's where that speed limit sign is, is where the tree used to be.
Really. Yeah. We had a massive tree right there. Oh my goodness. I I've never seen it. A parent look so mad. Oh, I'm sure. I think it was this little girl's dad that was with her and he, he like picked her up and walked back the way they came. I'm pretty sure they went home. I felt so bad. But if I, if I remember, like we had the weirdest of props for that one too. We also had a mummy by the front door that it's eyes would glow and move with you. Yeah. Oh, what the? Fuck, I wasn't kidding when I said we used to do some crazy ass shit in our house.
Yeah, we used to light up the driveway. We used to have just banging ass shit. I remember this other house that used to do this, but they would actually open up the whole house and you could walk in their front door and the whole house would be tripped out and you would have kids going through this fucking house and then leaving out the garage. Holy shit yeah our street was wild. That's interesting. OK. I just don't see a whole lot of people doing it anymore, which is so sad. That kind of reminds me of like you were standing outside in the Slender Man cock.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that. You were slender. Man, oh honey, we had a Slender Man phase camp, Yes. He had a very big. We both did. My buddy Zach went as. We used to write fan fiction band. No, no. But he was like, standing like his, like, you know. I stood still. And so at my old house, we had two trees out in the front yard that were just two identical trees. And it was like right next to the sidewalk. And I was dressed up in a full suit with, I couldn't afford a morph suit. So my grandmother made kind of like a, oh God, what was the material?
I think it was like a pantyhose hat with like 2 little eye slits for me to see through. And what I did was I would just stand propped up on the trees just waiting for people to walk by. And as they continued down, I started walking behind them. Those were always my favorite houses, the people that would just stand in their yard and watch you and then follow you. Yeah, because we used to have a bunch of those, too. We would have like Jason and Freddy Krueger just hiding somewhere and just watching you, and then all of a sudden they're just following these kids around.
Yeah. Those were always so good, Mark. We should do that again. Yeah. And I know that we need to get back into it. We used to do so much shit for Halloween. Yeah, our Halloween parties are a little lame these days. I wouldn't say they're blame. Nice, nice and. They're tamer. They're tamer than what we used to. Have Yes, they're tamer. I mean, I still think about the one Halloween party we had when we had a waffle party. Oh my God. You're right, and your dad was there too. He's my dad so my dad has this misconception that 20 somethings should be getting high or drunk.
He he shows up and he's just gonna sit in there. We're playing board games and and whatnot. I'm making. Waffles in the kitchen. He's kind of looking around like, what the fuck are you guys doing? You know our friend group, right? So we're all a bunch of idiots and nerds. You. Yeah, we don't do any of that. Yeah, he just shows up like how do you do, fellow kids and. I'm ready for some drugs and alcohol. He. Came in high. I know. Remember he was getting irritating in the kitchen when I was trying to make the waffles.
Yeah, he. Game in pregaming. Yeah, he pregamed, came over our house.
All right. And here he was greeted by waffles and board games. Yeah, we were. This was at the time we were still doing our board game parties. Yep, and this was before we even like were playing a Switch or, you know, doing stuff on Steam. This. Was like early on when this was, we both moved in together. Yeah, this was not much. My God, it was like the first three months living together. Yeah. Well, even even before that. Your grandparents house, Mark. We used to used to do board game parties there.
Oh yeah, or Jack Box as well. That was that was it, board games, card games or Jack Box? I need Jack box to make like a Halloween game like. Yeah, but. One party mode doesn't do with one. Yeah, I don't. I've never like, everyone goes to murder. This is going to be fucking controversial. But like everyone swamps the trivia party. Like, yeah, that's the best rule. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm like. It just shows you how much of an idiot you are if you don't know trivia. But no no, that's the thing that I don't mind the trivia, it's just everyone wants the swamp to play it and I get so bored of it.
I get bored of things fast and constantly playing the best game mode. I'm like let's try drawful. I love TKO or something TKO. Is OK, I'm. Just saying like, let's do something fucking different. Like, I like espionage. I like that new one with the sounds. Oh, I love that. The make your sound thing, yeah. Yeah. Voting on the sounds that are. Really. That's an old one. That's from. Is that old? That's from. Yeah, That's earwax. That's from 2:00. That's from 2. I thought that was newer. Ones no. Oh wow, I love that one.
I. Love that one too, Oh my God. It's so funny. But I swear that Jack Box was making some type. Of they have a new one coming out, I don't think it's Halloween themed. They. Constantly have a. New one, they made the adult one and apparently that one was just really disappointing. Yeah, it was not that. I mean, if you're going to do an NSFWI feel like it really needs to be like Out in the Abyss of Nasty, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I mean, because if you see cars against humidity, people they've already gotten, they've already gotten a little, oh, what's the term used to it from Cards Against Humanity?
So you have to turn it up a notch. Right. That's one of the sad thing about the game, though, is when you get so used to it, it just doesn't be funny anymore. Yeah. That's the problem. Yeah, it's just no longer taboo. So now you have to go to an even bigger taboo. I mean, my brother's got the like, huge fucking. Are the bigger. And there's like so much there. And there's also ones that they like they. Oh yeah. Yeah, and some of those, let me tell you. Wow, I'm like, man, my brother, I don't know him.
Apparently it's. Probably wise. Some fucked up shit. I mean, it was funny as fuck, Yeah, but yeah, when you draw one of those cards and you're like, wow, wow. My. Well, I guess this is where I get my jokes from. That's always a sibling, isn't it? Yes.
Oh, God. But now I'm looking forward to the Halloween party this year. Because. Not just because of, you know, but I really want to see you guys play Sonic Cross Worlds, yeah. Yeah. I see it. That's all he's there for is after. After we're done playing Sonic Rock. Yeah, I'm just gonna back it up. Why? You got fucking off. No, I think he's gonna be babysitting his friend and me. I think that's what's gonna. Have happened, we should play more board games. I mean I want to get back into board or just current.
Games or whatever. So I kind of thought about that. I told Mark like this time I kind of want to start with board games because we always just jump straight to the Switch. Yeah, yeah. Do that I want to do that. Other tumble. I want to do it again. I want. To do it. Again, you guys ever want to tumble? Play tumble. It's such a good game. Me. And Jack just building the. It's it's like it's just the dumbest game. It is, It is, and I forgot how stupid it. Is honestly what's what's really funny is when you mentioned that I'm like Oh my God, I remember playing that in the 1st grade, but like I was thinking of a different.
I think it was like topple or something. Yeah, I know. Shocking about. But tumble. Oh my God. I feel like we need, I feel like we need to revisit Monopoly, Mark. Oh God. Oh no. Monopoly. It could be even worse. We could do teams again. I. Know.
I mean, I actually got some games too. Mark won't play Monopoly with me for a lot of reasons. I mean, you probably played it so much like that's all. No, she cheats. I do not cheat, I like how you. Say that when she's sitting right next to you, like. No, I don't cheat. No, the problem is is Mark can't figure out how to play the game. She cheats. He doesn't like it because he always loses because he doesn't know how to play the board. There are certain properties and certain places that make you the most money and fuck your friends.
He hasn't quite figured that out yet after like the 15 years we've been playing it together. You got to get that Park Place. No. I I like. Getting I bought Barclays. I like getting the red specifically because there's one singular chance card that's like, oh, go straight to this red. Yeah, that's immediate money. Well. If you want the intuition, it's dark green and red that are the best. Yeah, yellow's OK, Orange is. I like to go powder blue. Yeah, I pout. I like the baby blue and I like the I like the brown right at the beginning.
Those ones are funny, yeah, especially if you have hotels and. It's just like a $400.00. It's just already like how did this get so bad? Well, The thing is, is because they're also cheap to acquire, yeah. Because they start off at like 25, like, Oh yeah, that's 25. Like I've like, I've only played Monopoly a handful of times. Me too, so I don't really know everything. I have a. Fallout 1. I know you do. I know I could just see it now and then. They're. Challenge me any day and I'll play with. You I'm gonna get fucked.
I haven't played it in a very long time so I may be out of touch. We'll see. Mark, we should play here. I'll land and see again. Oh yeah, that's fun. That was. Fun. No, I wanna play. I wanna play stratego. Oh yeah, it has to be the sci-fi stratego. Yeah, I like. Never played it too, but I'll do it anyway. You've never played Stratego? Finally. I've not done a lot of board. Games we've gotta play stratego like it's one of the best. You want to play a game with me? I don't fucking trust you. OK, so note to you, never play a strategy game with Mark because he cheats.
I I will definitely play strategy against don't play chess. With Mark because he cheats. I don't. I don't cheat. It's called castling. He cheats. Castling is not. Cheating. It's actually called on Poisson get flopped. It's. Only if you're French. What was? That interaction? It's not even the same move on Poisson is when you have a, you have a pond next to another pond. You put it behind the other pond, get up. It points the pond on the. Board, so there. And it only applies if you're French it. Only applies in market.
What if what if I do the the London opening? Huh. Will that ship make your shake your boots? And you face. Oh, OK. Wow, he does not like that. He does not like the London opening. Man, that's fucked up now. There's such a good time. Well, so there is. Yeah, chess and strategic. I can't move. Halloween, Yeah. Board games not. Not video games, Podcast. Not. Spiders and skeleton cats, no. So there is. I got to send a picture of it, but there's a board game that my brother does not want. Anymore. And he's like, you friends play board games.
Unfortunately, Like, yeah, I know Mark and Emma do. And he's like, well, they can have it if they want. I gotta go see what it is. I don't know if you guys know what it is, but we'll do you. Like know what it's called? I can't, I can't remember exactly what. It's a pretty easily sized fucking box, so. Glue Maven no OK. I'll send a picture. Of it, we really wanted to play board games on Halloween. I have some Halloween themed board games, it just take a long. Time no fun than that, no. I have a it's a haunted house one that you actually build the map.
Oh yeah, but we're. And I also have an Edgar Allan Poe game that's kind of like D&D. Oh, get the one where Jared described the. Rules and Jesus. Christ. And he fucked me over because of it. Yeah, yeah, I died on the first round or something. I'm like OK. Cool, cool. It's like. A weird D&D where you have like a dungeon master, sort of. It's hard to explain about the rules with me, but it's really cool game. If you remembered the Masquerade poem from Edgar Allan Poe, it's based off that one where you're going to different rooms that.
Have the different color rooms. If you remember that poem, each room had a different theme for the different masquerade. Yes, Yeah. So it's kind of like that where you have to go certain ways on the board. With it basically you have to end the game with the most prestige. That's either by attacking other players gaining favour with the Dungeon Master. Or Red Death kills you. Or Red Death kills whoever else is there in your last one standing. It's. A It's a It's a game. Yeah, it's a game. What are the games?
I've got quite a collection of. Games. Yeah, I. Wonder if you guys have heard of 13 Dead End Drive? I have, yeah. It's you've talked about this. Before the to us, yes, the anger video game nerd he did also bored James and he went over a bunch of board games. And that's one of them. He did talk to us about this. It's. Similar to Clue but it's it's like who's going to be the killer shit? Like. Like I don't have the shit in front of me so I can't really explain it too well. That's kind of how Beware is like beware as you build the map, you know, then you find a screw, you trigger a certain event, then depending on what event triggers it could be anybody, could be the killer.
This game, it's, it's such a cool game because you can build the attic, the basement, you build a kitchen. It's some kind of shit. Yeah, I think the attic was actually. It was an expansion. Expansion. Expansion. So you know, what's really funny is they make different editions of that game. Yeah, I think I have second edition. I think so. I think I have the 1st edition. Yeah. I think I actually have the extra dicing characters too. I I think the one time we actually got pretty far into it, we got a really complicated encounter.
Yeah, we got to the end of the game where it makes absolutely no. Sense, OK. Well, the one we had was oh, I became the killer. I have an invisible token and now I have to keep track of where I am on the map all the time. My. Brother knows the enemy. Yeah, I think so. I remember this. It's like, oh, this, this thing can't die. It'll come back because like, there's my brother and then there's the, the, the whatever, and this thing cannot die. You can kill it, but it'll come back unless you have a certain item.
I had that certain item, I killed the monster. So I'm like, oh, what? Yeah. Like do we just kill my brother in the game or like. When like. Do we win? Yeah, we just. I think the. Problem is is we read it and just didn't understand. It. Yeah, and. It comes with like a booklet that explains like each event, each thing. There's like 40 or so different events. Too, Yeah. But the house can flood. It's such a cool game. Or, or, or one of them was when I was playing over at one of my other friends that actually introduced me into this game.
This is way back when. There's an event where, like the bird is actually on the sorry, the house is on the back of a giant bird as well. It is. You're in the air. It's dumb. Yeah, it's dumb. I feel like we need to play this game now. We do. Yeah, The thing is, it takes like an hour or two to get. Through Yeah, you know, we might have to actually put the kitchen table together for that one. I think so, yeah. The actual dining table. But see the the the game we really should play is. Not crossword, shut up.
No, not that. That's not a. Board game? The heck? You said that game we should really play about board game unless. It's a board game. I'm stupid, I hope. Our listeners are enjoying this. They are, don't worry. No, they're they are. All of us don't. Play Mr. Bucket.
And see my pants. The pool bucket. I wouldn't shit in that if I were you. No. Mr. Bucket? Yeah. It's a bucket. But like. Bucket, here's your guy. You. Had to put it's more you had to like these fucking balls you throw on the in the bucket, the bucket like spits them out or some shit. And it's been it's kind of funny because the commercial it kind of sounds like put like put my put the ball balls in my mouth or some shit like like it, it's a. Commercial. Like it kind of like sounds like that, but it's it's not like AI feel.
Like I can only envision it like that now. Yep. Yep. It's hard if you say. So it's a it's a fucking weird game, like it's supposed to be like for kids and throw. The balls, yeah. But it's as an adult, it's that's kind of phallic. This is weird.
But we are at an hour. Oh wow, how? About that. So I think you should end the up Oh my God, what's the horses back? Hey, hey, it's it's. Running right towards. US. He's dead, Ethan.
I'm sorry you had to be here to see it, babe. I hope you guys have a happy and safe Halloween.
Well. He's gone and you're not even faced. Well, you know, he was talking shit about the the horse earlier. He wanted to come back. You want you. You didn't want him to come back. So I came back with a vengeance. Might take some time. It's been plugging for player four. Yeah, to have a happy Halloween, everybody. Be safe guys. Watch out for the horses. Bye.
Podbean
