Welcome to plug in for Player 4, where you, the viewer are the Player 4. And today I'm here with the boys. I'm not going to quit this time.
We're about to lose a host, but a. Reasonable crash out. I'm the boy, I'm boy #1. Mimi, big boy. Wah. Wah, the bubble bottom boys. That's another reference you're not going to understand, Brad. Would I understand it? You would understand. It what is it? Vanos. No, what? What was the reference? Bottom Boys. God, it's been so long. I'm not even sure I've probably seen that episode or video, but it's been so long. I haven't really watched Vanoss. It's was that a was that a prep hunt? I don't remember, I think it was it was either a prop hunter or a death run.
Oh I've already did death run dude. You know. OK so gripe is that YouTube kind of took out took down a lot of his Black Ops 2 trolling videos. Oh, fair did. They really, Yeah, I tried to go back and watch him like he's like, there's the whole playlist, but it's like deleted, delete, delete. Oh, this one, delete, delete. Oh, there occasionally not delete it, delete it. Oh my. God, that's fucking stupid. Yeah. I mean, they probably said stuff way because that was way back when that was 2012. That's that was over a decade ago, Yeah.
Against TOS, yeah. I'm honest, I'm honestly surprised they still have their their mini LED stuff up. Fair enough, I did not know this. Anyway. But for today's episode, games that made you rage?
Yeah, that's how I felt, man. And. 1000 balls.
Video games are great. They're therapeutic until they're not. Not yeah. And then you throw a controller at the wall. Man, that was fun. But we're going to have Mark start because I am curious with his first one. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I just intrigued you with my notes. Just right off the vet game, that game that made me rage. So in Jedi Survivor, when you get up to a certain part with the campaign and you have more areas of the bar you can access, there is this mini game upstairs where it's, if you remember from the movies there like the original trilogy where you've got like AAC3PO and R2 and Chewbacca playing that sort of like game on the Falcon.
Oh. OK. Yeah, yeah. You get to play that game and it's some sort of like weird kind of commander esque game where you're giving, you're given points throughout the rounds and you get to spend those points recruiting units and your objective is to wipe the board of all enemy units and then you proceed to the next round. Whatever points you don't spend gets saved on to the next round. So say you start off with eight points, you spend 6. Those other two points carry over. So instead of getting eight points the next round, you'll have access to 10.
So there's a little bit of strategy, a little bit of kind of planning involved, and you're choosy. You get access to for your own personal units, You get access to all the enemies that you have feast in the game up to that point. So if you go out and fight and you go fight a standard stormtrooper, bam, you have access to standard stormtroopers. But if you go further in the game and you'll get up to the the dark troopers, you could start placing dark Troopers then. But keep in mind that the more higher quality the unit is, the more expensive it's going to be.
So makes sense. So is this like a like a tabs kind of game? Kinda like totally accurate metal simulator? OK. So essentially all you can do is you can purchase your units and you place their starting points on the actual field. Where my rage starts to come in is because you have no control after you start the simulation and you have the you have the basic enemy AI to do all the work for you. Yeah, So it's all fine and dandy on the the easier stuff. The AI throws really easy stuff at you. It's fine.
You can kind of just work around all the jinkiness. You're good and golden. Once you start playing the harder AIS, it gets increasingly more frustrating because the enemy AI starts sending more and more specialized units your way and you have fewer and fewer resources to deal with it. And in in order to 100% the game, you have to go through this because there's some upgrades that you can get that are locked behind it. OK. Yeah. And so you're dealing with the basic AI where your units can get clumped together and all of a sudden they're wiped out, but like a grenade throw or creature charging through, or they're just constantly missing because they're firing and the shots just careen out of the way for some weird reason.
Or just the AI, just your units get split up if they're units that kind of do well when they're in groups. It is just any number of really random and stupid reasons can ruin your entire run of that AI. And the problem is if you lose, you had to restart the AI all over again. So you go back to the first round. Oh, because it, it, it's a literal, if you lose, that's it for your run. You have to start over. And then you had to go through the hell that is Oh, I have to hope that all of my units are functioning properly in order to get through this bullshit again.
And as the added cherry on top, you have an announcer for the mini game as well. Oh. My God. Oh. No, I can see where this is going. So every time you fail, you have some sort of annoying voice and you're you're feeling like, oh, that's a rough one for Cal Castis. Jesus. Every single time you fail is a voice line. I would punch my fucking computer. Oh my God. I. Like the Jedi games, it's pretty, I, I like the formula to them, you know, it's like a soul's light and it's got a pretty decent linear storyline and you know it, it feels really good.
It controls well, it's fine, but that that game mode just got under my skin and I I was, I was so done with it for a few months before I came back and finished the game. OK, because I I was so frustrated with it, I didn't touch the mini game. I just went through the rest of the story. Yeah. But. Oh my God. That's bad. Oh fuck. Yeah.
I no that, that that would piss me off. Yeah, I wouldn't. It wouldn't be so bad if you didn't have the announcer. Yeah, 'cause I just salt your fucking wound. Yeah, it. Just it just irks you every single time and you keep going back and you're trying different strategies to be like, OK, I'm going to try going this round instead because I, I see, I remember what happened last time. Yeah. But every single time you have to sit through the guy just kind of berating you as you get out of the game mode.
I do. Oh my God, no, it's. So funny because when I was last playing that game mode, I had my old headset where the mic was actually broken so it was constantly on and I was just kind of vibing with you close playing the game right? You have that and all of a sudden I hear Jack pipe up and he starts seeing the same voice line. After it happens, I'm like, Oh my God, Jack, not now. That sounds like Jack and. He's just like, oh, that's a rough one for Cal Kistis. I'm like you son of a bitch, just parroting the fucking game while I'm already pissed off.
Oh. My God. I I can see the frustrations there. Yeah, it. It it, it, it you don't expect it from that game either. It, it just if you just play the story, you won't interact with it at all. Yeah, but you you just it's there if you go looking for it. Yeah. It's the most frustrating part of that game in my opinion. God yeah, that that would so take I. Got so angry. I can imagine, yeah, you're already mad from losing and then you have this annoying announcer that says shit to you and it's like it. Really, it just keeps, the more times you play, you try to get through and it just gets more and more frustrating and annoying, yeah.
I can, I can understand your frustrations. Yeah, I will not be touching that.
All right. Well, Mister East. Dude, I'm trying to look for specific games because right now I kind of have just like broad things that I can talk about. Because I I've kind of hit a point recently where maybe not recently, but as I've gotten older where if I get frustrated enough, I won't rage, but I'm just like, OK, I just need to like take a step back, calm down, come back to fair. But, and as much as I love roguelakes, like this is just broad. This can happen pretty much any roguelike just about where yes, it's RNG, No, it's not something I can control.
But there's times where I get what is it called? Like not headstrong, hard headed. I think it's yeah, where I will just not move. Stubborn I, I, I will not move off it. I want the run to go this way. I want to get these items and I want to make it work 'cause I know it can work and I just, it's the way I want to play. It is fun. But there was just that RNG and I just got stuck in that loop where and it it gets to the point where like if I don't, I don't get the first item that goes with this set or however this build or what I want and go is I will reset the run until I get an item that fits what I want.
And just I will Stew and Stew and Stew. And like, it's not the game that pisses like the enemies, literally. Just the the RNG, yes. It's the RNG that pisses me off. Is this I? Is this the issue you have with Binding of Isaac? It can be binding. Isaac, I can see that because. It it feels like there's a lot of trash in that game compared to some of the great items that you can get. And even then, there can be trash items that become godly with specific items. Yeah. But you had to put all your faith in getting those specific items.
Yeah, yes. Like there's, there's an item where you can control your tears. You literally it's, it's your tears are a static or OK, maybe not static, but dynamic. It's a dynamic tier that stays on the map and you can control it wherever you want. But you at that point 'cause you use left to move around, right to shoot directions. At that point you use left stick to move your character around and you use right stick to move your tier around. Yes, but if you get an item where as long as you stand still, you can't take damage, you just go into your room, stand still, become a rock at that point so you can't take damage and then you just move your tear around to kill the enemies.
You win, you just win. And it it can be something like that where or OK, I have, I have the item that makes me immune when I stand still, but I can't do anything because I don't have that item where my tear is a separate entity. I have to move around and fight. And yeah. Then you have to control your tear at the same time 'cause. Like at first it might start off with annoying boss or a great run that I died bullshittingly, and then I'm saying, well, I want to get back to that point, but the RNG is in my way.
Yeah. It's just sometimes I just, like I said, I Stew and I just get in the headspace and it sucks. It's so draining once I get out of it. I've had the I, I, I used to stream and there have been times on stream at least twice where that happened. And I'm like, I even think it to myself, like I'm angry. And when I get angry, I don't talk. Yeah. So I'm not talking like the vibe is down on the stream and I know the vibe is down and I know I shouldn't be like this, but it did. It sucks. Yeah, and. Again, it's nothing I can control it just I don't know it's.
Basically, it is what it is, yeah. That's that's the one downside of Roblox in my mind, where I want to have control over something I can't. Yes. And it's frustrating. I mean, I, I hear you. Yeah, so it's not a game, but it's it's a it's. Sort of like a mechanic that's just kind of throws you through a loop. Yeah, like I said, it's more a generic thing than a specific game, but I am trying to find a game that. OK. It's it's you can reference, yeah. Yeah, I know there is one. Oh OK so I guess for me the do maternal DLC.
Now, which one specifically? So I. Influences your your response I. Only played is the first. The first one I forgot exactly the name of the DLC. The Old gods, I think. Or something like that. Yeah. So the first part, the first DLC. So first part I guess you could say. Yeah, Part 1 of the Old Gods. Yes, DLC. So I want to say like this is probably why I raged so hard at this was I didn't know that these DLCS were notorious for being super difficult that that was I guess the point of them.
So I didn't know that, and I'm going into this thinking it's going to be kind of similar to like just the main story for Du Maternal. And it wasn't a gameplay wise, sure, but there were a hell of a lot more enemies thrown at you.
They were kind of a pain in the ass to kill. And with Du Maternal in general, you were kind of told to move. Do not stand still. Yeah, you had to continuously move because there were so many things going on that you've got to try to keep yourself out of the line of fire, all of the enemies. Yeah. So with this DLCI, like I said, didn't know that. And I got pissed because it's like, man, I'm fucking dying left and right. Yeah, it's like there goes all my lives that you get in the game, you know? And I, like I said, didn't know until after the fact that they were notoriously, like, they're notorious for being hard.
Yeah. And. That that makes honestly a lot of sense because from the dev dev's perspective, you play the base game to get used to the mechanics and then the DLC is sort of show off your mastery of those mechanics, yes. It's. It's sort of the same way with Monster Hunter. Yes, where? Where the DLC gets a lot harder, but you are. You're also getting to the part of the game where you should have mastered the basics already. Yes. And at this point, like I kind of figured like I, I knew the the basics of the main game and the main game was great.
It was fun. It was difficult, but it was fun. I kind of came to the point of or the conclusion that these DLCS are just not for me. These are for more of the the. Hardcore fans in the. Series which perfectly fine just because I didn't like these DLCS does not make them bad They are not bad, they are just not for me yeah you're. Not the into the audience, yeah. I just wish I would have known that before buying them but. I can understand that, but. You. Live and you learn you. Live and you learn. But for the the time that I did have with it, it was good.
You know, it was just, it was too much for me to handle. Well, especially if you're not used to the arena based combat, yeah. That because a. Lot of a lot of the modern shooters have moved away from the arena based combat, yeah. And and that's fine, like the arena based combat's fine. Yeah, like that's. But. When when you're not used to it, it's a very bitter pill to swallow. Yeah, to adjust yourself. You've. Got to learn, yeah? Because it's a whole different beast, yeah. And like it's a kind of perm perspective.
I was, I was on the easiest difficulty you you could do and I was still getting Jesus, that's how hard it is. And I mean, even that like thinking about that, even on the easiest difficulty, it's still difficult, which I don't know, it's kind of kind of interesting. Like like a day, like the difficulty really didn't matter, you know, and I mean, it does, but I don't know those those DLCS just weren't for me. And it kind of sucks because I really did enjoy Eternal and there were things that like I some mechanics that I wish were different.
And the the difficulty of the game definitely took a step up from 2016. It was definitely a difficulty spike, yeah. There definitely was. But that was because there's different mechanics and you can't just go on a guns a blazing. Yeah, some enemies you've got to see. OK, what are their patterns? Right. Like the one in particular one enemy I despise was the one with like the like sword and he might have the shield depending on are. You talking about the Marauder? Yeah. The guy that sends the hounds at you.
I think that's the marauder because you. Can't just attack him, yeah. Yeah, you're the wait, you're talking about the enemy that was introduced with Eternal? Yes, it was like the the Argentineur. Yes, yeah, because you had to wait for like a certain time. Yeah, you. Had to wait for the flesh, then you hit a counter. Yep. And then you could. Actually attack it and it. Also took a minute to kill him. Yeah. And those hounds, they pissed me off because if you're if he'll spawn them if you're too far away from him.
Yeah. But on top of this, when he get too close, he kind of like teleports away from you. Yeah. And then he'll spawn the hounds. Yeah. And then he attack you and then there's an animation on your screen of you getting bit and it's like, Oh my God, there's too much fucking going on. Like, but Jesus. But I respect that some people like that. They like that chaoticness, right? That's fine. And so do I, But to a certain extent for me, yeah. You know, there's only so much that you can process at once, yeah, before it becomes just unfair and.
Then now going into the Dark Ages for Doom, you know, Doom, the Dark Ages, totally different again, yeah, but this time you're standing your ground, yeah. You're not dodging around and all that shit. The Doomslayer is definitely heavier feeling, but man, I fucking love fucking the new Doom game. I love his fucking shield, man. You can throw the fucking thing and cut everything in half. It's like, fuck yeah, and you're throwing it back to yourself, OK? But like, the shield is actually pretty cool.
It's yeah, it's really fucking cool. And use. It because it's not just for attacking, it's also for defending, Yeah, because you can block stuff, you know, and send projectiles back to an enemy. Like I know some people have been shitting on this one and I can't. It's kind of like a mixed bag. I have to read into it more, but I don't know if it's just because the gameplay is a lot different. It's not as fast-paced as Eternal, Yeah, Which, yeah, that's fine. From from what? Yeah, my brother-in-law has told me you pretty much said that a lot of the complaints is that the shield makes a lot of the gameplay very trivial.
I can see it. Especially on the harder difficulties, and that's what a lot of the hardcore players kind of have a issue with. It's just, oh, you can, you can negate a lot of the problems that you typically have because you don't, you don't need to move around so much if you can just nullify damage. That's. Yeah, yeah, I can. I can see where that would be a problem for them. Yeah, this this one is definitely towards more my alley of the game because yeah, I mean you yeah, you can nullify a lot of the damage with your shield.
Like your shield has a charge. So eventually he goes out and he got to wait for the charge before he can start defending again. But I mean, God, like they even incorporated like some things in the levels that this you need the shield in order to get to these areas to progress because there's some areas where you just will not make it like trying to jump. So you have this like, oozing, like demon thing that's blood dripping and shit, Yeah. And you throw your shield to it, locks on to it, then the shield pulls you over.
And so that's kind of fucking. Cool. Yeah, it's pretty neat, like. I I've got to get back into it, but it's, I mean, God, even the first like 20 minutes of the fucking game, man, it was like blowing my balls off like damn, man, Like I they did, at least I think so. In my opinion. They did the early game, the early couple missions. Fucking great to get you into the action. Yeah. Do you feel like a fucking bad ass? As you should. You're the fucking Doomslayer. Yeah, we're talking. About Doom. We talk about fucking Doom.
Fucking Doom, man. I mean, that's kind of how just Doom 2016 was. I haven't played general. But ohh yeah, just straight into the action, just like. On the first, I think on the first level, when you go outside situation. Under control will extend the deads, the dead demon at the elevator. Definitely. Even in the first level when you finally go outside and then you get that like punch up, like that punch ability, you just punch demons in the face. Yeah, just instigating them. Like you're just, you punch them, they turn into mist.
Now gently remove the Argent's energy rods from the container. Bracket punches it and shit, do you know? What you're doing? Yes.
I when. You can't just shoot a hole through the surface of Mars Watch. You objective shoot a hole. In Mars I, when that came out, I was all over that shit. Yeah, I I think I played it too much, Yeah. I got pretty far on the Xbox at least dude when it was on game pass I. I think I got a lot of most of the collectibles and the levels. I want, that's the thing, like I wanted to do everything in all the levels. So I wouldn't, I wouldn't complete a level until I've done everything. I wanted to focus on getting all the stuff.
But. I I did not have enough room on my Xbox to run it. Oh. OK. Because I had Eternal for the series access, and if you don't have enough internal storage, you can't because it's an excess game, you can't play it. Yep, Yep. And the storage. Is still hell fucking hella expensive. I mean, I mean, that's fair, but I mean, what? Doom 2016, you should be able to have it just. Oh yeah. Doom 2016 is still fine, yeah yeah, 'cause that's. An Xbox One game, yeah. You don't have that issue, no. But eternal you do, yes.
Oh, you're right, yeah. That that, That's one annoying thing. The excess system, yeah.
But you know, I'm, I've been actually been a Doom fan for a while. Like I I've I really got into playing the originals like 64. You, you and Jack were were big on to playing the originals for a while, were you? Yeah. Like doom doom 1/2 I tried 3
it's not bad. It's. Different 3. Is very different, but let me tell you, scary, scary, which I mean, perfectly fine. It's not a bad game, yeah. It's just different, yeah. That's the one that had more of the horror aspect, wasn't it? It. Did because at least on the original, like the original 1, you can't have your flashlight out yeah, for too long and you can't shoot your gun at the same time. Granted you can see with like with the flash of the gun. But that's only going to get you so far. Yeah, so.
Now if you play the BFG version of the game, that's not an issue, no. You can have the flashlight like you're you're a space soldier when you went to Mars and you can't have a shoulder attached flesh that's. That's what's yeah like. Technology is not like what? Or you can't like duct tape into your gun. Like some shit, yeah. Your gun's got to be standard issue but. It was just, it was interesting because Doom, Doom 3 was great to use for a benchmark back in the day, testing your computer. Really.
Yeah. Because of its advanced technologies of that time. Like, graphically, that was probably one of the best looking games of that era. Lighting was totally different than what you've seen.
Just a bunch of new technology. And when you do the benchmark, you'll know if your computer can't run that shit. It wasn't. It was an intense game to run. Yeah. You had to have the hardware for it. Yeah. But but now it's all but. Can it run Doom? But can it run doom nowadays? It's like fine. It wasn't on the same thing with Crisis, though. Yeah, yeah. 'Cause crisis was pretty demanding crisis. Was the IT was the king of demanding. Yeah, that Crytek engine which is still around, I forgot there's a game that's I think came out recently uses that engine.
That engine of of the time, it was great, but now, I mean, it's being superseded by Unreal at this point, but I. Mean everything is really being superseded by Unreal of this point. Yeah, it's great that everything looks cool. Oh yeah. But does it play? If I want to look at something great, like that's real realistic, I'll go outside. Yeah, I'll go patch some grass like. Part of the things I'm afraid for GTA6. Yeah, you know, it's. Going to be an all graphics but no I'll walk. Down the street and then load in the chunk of the neighbors.
Yeah, you just go walk in and you're like, look up in the sky now. Loading what? What? And you look good. There's a hole there right in fuck in front of you. Yeah. Half the house, half of your neighbor's house is fucking gone, you know. And then finally, you know, it's done loading. You see you. See. At least see a floating cat while it's still loading in the junk, yeah? And it's keep posing. Where's all the processing power going? Oh, it's going in to load that one person's ass cheek. This is like.
5 million polygons Because that's what we get for hyper realism, OK. I need to get this out because I'm going to explode really soon. What? So I do have a game that made me rage. Oh. Finally. And. I you know what? I. I fucking feel for this game take. It away. So. Take the wheel I'm. Not sure if you guys ever heard of this game, but it was it was a game that I only heard of because of Game Pass. I don't think it's even on Game Pass anymore, but it's called Soccer Story. I. Have ever where basically soccer was outlawed and there it's like an.
Anime game. No, not at all. It's actually a pixel art. Oh. Really. OK, K. I'm not, I'm not the biggest soccer person or even sports game person at like at all, but I'm just you know what? You know what, I'll give it a try. And so I start playing this game and basically the story is that like soccer's outlawed, like you're not allowed to play it. So is the government or I'm pretty sure that's what it is. And interesting. Basically it was like underground soccer. And so you decide you want to play this and you tell your mom.
I wonder why? I wanted your soccer. I wanted your soccer. So you go out and you tell your friend. Then there's this whole tutorial like this whole, this tutorial goes on for longer than it should. I don't know what's in that tutorial, but I think it was like, OK, so go around the obstacles and in this amount of time or go around the track, find, find a certain amount of objects. I think even there's even a coach that would help you, but say, oh, but you got to do this first. And it was kind of annoying to do that.
I I don't remember. I don't remember any this kind. Of sounds like the Crazy Taxi tutorial. I I've never actually played that honestly. Oh. OK, so I can. Tell you but you you you basically had to do a bunch of bullshit and it was it took a little too long it it it stayed for too long for and I so I was kind of like running out of gas at this point by the time I actually got to play my first soccer game that's. Not good like at. All. And then it's like, OK, so here's your first soccer game you're going to play against kindergarteners, kids in diapers, literal fucking babies.
What? It's underground, there's no regulations. I I could I could be wrong, but that sound like about the IT being outlawed, but that sounds right. It just it pops in my brain. That sounds right about the story again, I can't remember. It's been so long since I played these fucking children. These fucking kindergarteners will kick your ass. They are. The biggest difficulties spiking if the first something getting to play in the entire game are. You more athletic than the game. Yes, and you try to play it and you try to get past them.
Well, you fucking can't. I didn't score a single fucking goal in this entire game and I played this about 5 fucking times. This is genuine feelings. I'm so fucking mad right now, you know? I'm so fucked. Shut up. I'm on your oh OK. And it was these, these fucking children. I even booked up. It's like, is this your something I'm doing wrong? Am I am I missing something? No, everyone has a problem with these babies. If you can't do anything about it, you can't skip this. You can't get onto the actual game point.
I don't know how hard the next game is after this. I'm not sure what any of the other game is like. Wait, fuck. This Hey Brandon, make sure to reverb that. You God damn right. Listen, I'm. I'm sweating this game. Actually, I quit this game. I rage quit. I'm pretty sure I turned the console off. I. Didn't even quit out of the game. I'm like a shit, I'm done. These children in their diapers, they can shit wherever they want. They can. They can come into my house. Goodbye. Yeah. I was going to say before I was told to not to go ahead, now I'm free.
Yay. This sounds like the kind of shit that somebody would put into their game if their game was pirated. But if you said that, you got it legitimately. This is over Game Pass on. Their former forums people complain about it. Yes it it just from somebody who's not playing it. It sounds like one of those situations where they pirate it where they had the anti piracy software. That that could that would make sense, but this was on. Game Bash, Yeah, and these were literal and. It's like they and it's the first, the first level or game you're playing and they make it fucking impossible.
And here's. The thing you you like, you can, there's like a passing system. I like this is soccer. So like there's a passing system and you control the person that currently has the ball. And there's also a sprint's thing. But I think there was a a condition with the Sprint. Like obviously there was a meter, but I think you couldn't like shoot or you couldn't pass or something like that. Like another condition. Yeah, as long as you were sprinting. But these kids were like, like on your ass like these.
These were athletic sports stars. What? The fuck?
It's so bad, and this is after already the egregiously long tutorial like so my, I told you, my patience was like kind of thinned after that tutorial. I'm like, alright, you know, I just got to get past this game. I got to try out the I can finally play as as this game. The babies. Like it's, it's, it sounds like, like just imagine that one guy from Mashall where he's like babies and like, that's like that fucking poof. It's that guy. Oh God. God is dead, ma'am. God is dead, ma'am. I'm sure that's how you felt after getting wolf by some fucking babies.
It's damn infants. Oh my. Fucking God the. Fuck. I'm sorry I I went through. So there's this website called True Achievements in which it's your Xbox games you've played or even achievements you can look through. And so I was like, you know what? I was looking through it because I know there's some games that pissed me off as soon as I saw Soccer. Soccer Story. Yeah, it was funny. Like I was wondering what was going on over there while while I was talking. I'm like, man, he's seething over there.
What the fuck? What the hell did he find? I. I. Really wanted to like this game and I really wanted to try it out again. I'm not the biggest sports person, but like. The game this game. Shouldn't be that hard. The game on the. Tutorial. You're not going to make me laugh to God damn it.
Me. And Mark's me and Mark's bullshit. No, no bounds.
This is going to be a very great episode to edit. Oh. My God, I'm fucking dude. I'm really fucking hot now. No, I'm I'm good. I got out of my system, but like, holy shit, was that game. I don't, I don't know, like literally you can look up a video or something and you'll see how athletic these goddamn kids are. It's it's just why? I have to say this for the podcast.
You turned red as fuck, let me tell you. Oh, I bet. And I'm like, Oh yeah, this is definitely bad. His skin tone is approaching mine and. I'm like, no, what's funny, as I'm watching you talk about this, I'm also looking at the machine and I'm seeing that overload like Ding, Ding, Ding.
To give you some reference, Ethan is a really pale ginger boy so see see his skin turned towards more of it, like a Mediterranean esque skin tone. That's a. Lot. That would probably that is probably my favorite crash out from me. Like, like he's got a full on. You don't see me crash out often though, that's the thing. That's the. Thing yeah, you don't that's. Probably the biggest crash out you ever seen from me. And and and also in person. That's even fucking better like that. Like those, those are genuine feelings that I, it was building up.
I'm like, I got to talk to this before I actually fucking explode physically. I I'm happy you said something like I my headaches. Back, by the way. Ah, shit. Nope. Well, you know what worth? It yeah, worth it. Man, Oh, I'm gonna have it was. Also, my voice was destroyed from traffic, but that's besides the point. Earlier today I. Feel you and. I'm starting to feel that scratchiness come back in my vote. That's cool drink. Some water? Nope. I. Drink. Your water. But it's funny, the entire time you kept that mic right where it was, where it needed to be to hear it, like, and I'm like staring at this shit.
I've seen that bar go red as fuck. Like right now it's going red as fuck. Like I'm seeing it bounce. Yeah. I'm like, oh, fuck, oh, this is going to be fun. I'm like, man, we. Thought I was going to be the problem with volume for this. As soon as I found that game, I'm. Just as. Soon as I saw the scroll scroll. Nope, Nope, Nope soccer. I could feel my blood boil reading the title of the game. Oh man, I really. Wanted to see what this game was about. Well, it's good. It's good that I know how to do what's called automation, which is basically I. So for your section, I'll have to turn you down a little bit.
You have to turn me. Down a lot and and. Then turn you back up so I can do that automatically but dude. As soon as I start, as soon as I as soon as I start talking. Just like a the back. I'm kidding. Don't do that. No, technical difficulties. Don't do that. Yeah, I will not. Do that. Whoever listens to this might have sensory issues. I don't want to be that asshole. No, I, I got to, I got to figure out man, who I would do reverb or I would do echo or make it like your voice slower and like a demon and shit.
Can we do it do the auto tune like a star spangled banner thing? She's. Fuck off I. Have auto tune on this on my on that thing you could. Probably. Find it. Probably. Yeah, no, I can understand your frustration there, bud. And yeah, I'd be mad. I'd be mad too if I was getting beat by some fucking. Baby this. Fucking track athlete babies. Oh my God, that is. Amazing. The. Children train from birth to be the thing. About the field, it was like it was. It was like a football field. So like an American football.
No, it was I. Mean it was interchangeable, so it makes sense well. It just wasn't. It wasn't like the the Olympic, not really Olympic, but like the the the.
Yeah. I'm I'm fucking sure. I'm trying to think. The harder I think, the more I share a circuit. You might you might want to take some time to calm down. It's all catching up to me. I'm if. If you don't get in this episode, you'll get in my next episode and. I'm just now thinking like it wasn't. A big field, that's the thing. OK, yeah, but just. These these kids. I'm also going to have fun with. When you tried. Saying something? Shut up. It's. Not often that I interrupt. I'm usually like, oh I'm sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt.
No, that's how mad I want. Maybe I shouldn't pick this episode.
Man, weird. He brought us off the rails real quick and there was even a turn. He just, he just got out of the cart and pushed himself. Yeah. I needed to do it, otherwise I would die. I would waste away. Oh my God. I. Can feel it building up. Bones all right, I'm. Good. Go ahead. You're good. I'm good all. Right. Did you want to bring up the next game or do you want me to talk about my game? Baby OK, I'll I'll put your. Ass in the timeout corner. You've had your chance to speak. You spoke your words.
Good joke, I'm. Actually sweating though. Like I'm I'm generally sweating. So I'm not sure. If it's the rumor, how like just. Drinking's also bad I. Got. Drugs. Drugs are also bad drugs and bad. I'm good. All right, Brandon. So I'll talk about mine because it's not that long. Yeah, so I know, I'm sure you have some words for yours. Honestly, it's not that long. GTFO, yeah. Really. But now you. Know what it is all. Right, you don't have to say that. But said it anyway. OK, fair enough. So mine Sonic superstars more so on the final boss, and there is also a level mechanic that drove me up the fucking wall.
All right, so we. The fuck is happening? If y'all just don't let me. Play with the bike no more. OK, I I have to do something. No, I'd rather take this. Oh. Yeah, so, yeah, so Sonic superstars for anybody who has played it, it is it's the game itself is good I. Have a marshmallow. Sorry, Brandon. Marshmallow Marshmallow. Marshmallow marshmallow. So for Sonic superstars, it's the game itself minus the bosses are fine. Like it's not too bad.
There goes a marshmallow go. Ahead, get going. You're distracted. No, no, no. Keep going. Keep going. Got to. Entertain the masses. We can't have a. We can't have a bad spot. Yeah, go ahead throwing these at you if you don't get moving. Come on, I'm moving. Come on man, this is my episode. Yeah, so keep going like talk like you're into your episode talk. You're not talking against your episode. I had I had to scream over over Mark I'm. About to start screaming. Now. Good. Yeah, feel it. Feel the rageful through you so.
Sonic Superstars. The The game itself is fine. The bosses are kind of shit Yeah, and the reason they're shit is there are you can't you can't attack the bosses like you would in like some of the older Sonic games where you you could literally just keep pile driving the fucking boss if you wanted to Yeah, you could, but superstars, there's waiting times you hit, you wait for the boss invulnerability. So basically or they? Would get out of reach or something you get. Basically, yeah. OK, a lot. Of the bosses, you hit it once, then you got to go through it's phases again.
Yeah. Then you might be able to hit it. But if you fuck up, well then yeah, that's great. And one of them in particular was an auto scrolling one. Let me. Tell auto scrolling boss fight. Oh no, yeah, I think it was with Fang the sniper, I think that was. Sniper like. Sniper. Is this a 3D or A2D? It's a it's a 2D OK. I was going to say, but it's not. A as bad but. It's not a 2D like older Sonic game. It's like a 3D but 2D. Yeah, it's it's a 2D platformer with 3D elements. Yes, OK, so it's the boss is just they I don't know they I think they dropped the ball on them, but the worst offender, like I said earlier, is the final boss.
Getting to the final boss is kind of cool, but also annoying. You go through one of the last levels and. Yeah. Well, to get to the final boss, you have to do that level again, but in reverse. Everything is completely reversed, so platforms that may have fallen might go away. OK, so. So it does kind of like the original Castlevania thing. Kind of, but bad Kind of. But bad because. The problem was it was kind of long and I don't think there were really any checkpoints. If you died, you'd go right back to where you were.
It's God of Soap, but getting to that point, you then hit a checkpoint and that's when you allege the final boss. Final boss.
It's obviously it's like man, but he's in this like robot, like big robot suit that's off in the background that you you can't attack directly. You have to kind of go through his his phases and at one, at some point he'll shoot missiles out and you have to hit these blue ones in order to fire them back at him. The problem with that, the missiles, if they go off screen, they're gone. Oh, they're just gone. Oh. No take their weight that entire. You have to go through his first phase again. Oh, boy.
Then go like, you know, doing his stupid shit. The other thing, the way this boss works is it wrote the you kind of run in like a circle, but as you're running, Eggman's like turning. OK, So you've got to make sure that when he shoots these fucking missiles out that you're behind him. Oh. No, I had a. Feeling you're going to say that? Yeah. And if you're not, he blocks him. But The thing is, you can't really tell when he's about to shoot them. So you might be in front of him and then, oh. No. And if you die, you're starting the entire fight over.
That means also cuz there's a second phase of his shit that after you beat him, like his first phase, his second phase is him coming after you on platforms that he's breaking OK and you can fall through them and die. Well, you get to do the first phase you just did with the missiles again, there's no fucking checkpoint. God this sounds like the first, sorry, the final boss of Fury. I tell you how many times I died on the second phase and having to go through the first phase, which isn't great either because at it's at one point what Eggman will do is he'll slam like I'm like back up.
He'll use his arms and destroy basically all the platforms in front of you. So you got to make sure you're on like the far right side of the screen or you're dead. Mind you, there are no lives in this game, so you don't have to worry about that. Is it like the ring system? It's, I mean what? It's the ring system, but like you, you have basically unlimited lives. Like you don't have to worry about running out. And then you restart everything over all, right. OK, so one of the other phases he'll do is he'll again smack the ground and then it'll throw you in the air with 0 gravity and you have to try to get over to him while he's shooting these electric things at you.
Mind you, rings are kind of scarce. It's a boss fight. This one they went a little overboard. Oh, you're. Fucked if you get hit because you might not be able to get your rings in time right? Oh yeah, I guess. Look at the screen. So. Or just flat out de spawn they flat. Out. Just go away. Oh God, because there's. Also another section before the zero gravity bullshit that he shoots out this like wall of laser and there's like an indentation where you can go and dodge it but hopefully you are by that because if you're not well you get hit.
Oh boy, the. Boss is relentless. That was the problem with it. The thing is, if you had all of the Chaos Emeralds, or at least some of them, the Chaos Emeralds work a little differently in this one. Each Chaos Emerald has its own power it gives you, so one could be used for swimming underwater. Or whatever, Yeah. Another one is like shooting a bunch of sonics at the boss, which, let me tell you, that helps a lot.
Perry. This, you filthy casual. So it's basically the the the multiple sonics is just a big dump of damage, yeah. They basically get thrown at him and they'll attack. Yeah, how do they activate? So what are the chaos? Someone do you activate? And then what they'll do is they'll actually come off off screen in front of you. I forgot how many get thrown, but they go and whatever they touch gets hurt, Right? And with Egg Man, that was a lot of damage very quickly, yeah. But like how do you activate them is the question.
So you have to choose the Chaos Emerald. It's like a little menu. Oh. OK, that's cool. I honestly, to be completely honest, I wish I would have had the all the chaos emeralds because then you can do supersonic, right? I'm sure that just makes it piss easy, but. There's also a different boss fight entirely I think, with him. Oh, really? Oh, OK, that's cool. That's really cool actually. Which that's usually how that goes. If you get all the emeralds, there's a a final fight that is completely different than what you would get if you didn't get the emeralds.
I. Didn't know that. I mean, granted, I didn't really play many Sonic games where there was chaos, almost like I played Sonic Rush, which the chaos were weird to get in that one. Very weird. Yeah. And I don't think I got any of them. Sonic Colors.
Sonic Forces, Yeah. Oh. God son of versus fucking God. No, no heroes. Sorry. Not first heroes. OK. Heroes. Yeah, yeah. Heroes have. A didn't like no, I just never got the chaos they. Were kind of a pain in the ass. In Russia in. Rush and also colors or not colors I was going to. Say they were in colors. Yeah, they were in Heroes, yes. They were a pain in the ass. God I have not played this game in forever. Yeah, I know. Surprised I'm for how old am I? But then there's also once you finish the main game, you unlock a separate story with a new character that was introduced in this game.
Her name's Trip, so I forgot exactly what animal she is, but her what I like about her is her super form 'cause you know, you get like Super Sonic, Super Tails or like hyper Tails, whatever. You know Trips super is basically she turns into a dragon. Dragons are cool. And she could fly. She's invulnerable. Like she's pretty cool. Her story, I think her story is kind of difficult. It's a little more difficult than the main game. But her fucking final boss fight, You think the regular boss fight was bad?
This one is like someone curb stomped your ball sack. Is it as hard as the kids?
Honestly, yeah, kind of kind of this boss. I can't say too much because I haven't done it myself. I think Patrick tried. I don't know if he actually survived it or not or even fucking started it.
But this boss fight, there are attacks where and it's and it's not Eggman this time around, it's someone else. Some of the attacks this boss does is a one hit kill.
There's like this like slap attack that it does not matter if you have rings, if it touches you, you die. What the fuck? That's not how Sonic works, no. I hate when bosses have an instant kill mechanic. Right. Or attack. That's fucking dumb. I'm sorry, I don't like there. I mean, there's there are very few boss fights where they actually do in tickles, right? Yeah. I it's so fucking irritating and the boss is not this boss is not easy. Yeah, like the attack patterns are kind of and yeah, I think you're on like a not a roller coaster thing, but like the the I'd have to look this boss fight up, but I just, I what I, like I said I remember very vividly is yeah, the slap attack will kill you instantly and it's kind of a pain in the ass to dodge and it's like Sega, who hurts you?
Like, like, why are you 'cause this, the main boss with Sonic was bugging the fuck out of me because I want to fucking beat it and I had to take time away from it because it was pissing me off. Dude like. The rage you felt with that, with your Jedi survivor stuff, Yeah, that is the rage I was feeling because it's like, what am I doing wrong? No, it's just the fucking bosses. Janky, really. All the bosses were not good. That's what's a staple of the of the Sonic games, is the boss fights. Yeah. And when you fuck that up, I'm sorry.
And on top of that?
On top of that, why in the holy mother of hell did Sega decide to bring back the composer for the Sonic Four games? The Sonic the Hedgehog 4, Episode 1 and two? It was an episodic thing. It was supposed to be a three, but that didn't come out the the composer was trying to emulate the Genesis sounds Yeah, it was that good. Oh no, it was that good. Also the game was that great. Episode 2 was fine. That that one was alright. The first one. Why did Sonic have to look so fucking shiny? Why the hell did the graphics look just?
Oh.
No. Like so no, to my fucking surprise, and Patrick was downstairs with me while I started Superstars up. The main menu music is literally just Sonic 4 music. Oh, I'm. Like oh, Oh, no, when when I when I heard that shit, I'm like, oh fuck. Oh, here we go. I'm sorry. Sorry, what did you say? The music was Sonic. 4 from Sonic the Hedgehog 4 episode one Oh. No. And I know the person was trying to emulate the, the, the Genesis music. OK, I get that. And that's fine. I I know what they're trying to do.
But it wasn't good. So why the hell did you bring it back music? Because as soon as I heard it, I looked at Patrick and I'm like, it's just even worth playing. Did I just waste money?
Did I just waste like $50 or however much it was? Oh, you got to be fucking kidding me.
I. And then to finish off the level mechanic I'm talking about, I forgot exactly what level it is, but there is this like flying machine thing that egg man's using, right? Is it Eggman's mean bean machine? No, no, that is a hard game too. Good game, but hard. You like polio? Polio. Go play it.
Basically, you have to go through this level and you have to make sure that that machine that's in the background doesn't explode. It is an instant death.
It is instant death. Instant death. So the way to keep it from exploding are these like switches that you can step on or whatever? Yeah, So that's fine. This is. Like sequence you get in the press or it. Pretty much, yeah. Like you're going through the level and you're seeing this thing countdown. So on top of that you're getting anxious because you see gang, gang, gang, you know, things getting ready. And what really set me off was there was one section with this where you had to put, you had Sonic on these like spheres that send him like creaming upwards or whatever.
Well, they fucked that up. They didn't feel like what Sonic 3 did with them. It felt off. It didn't like it was. It was like weird to have Sonic go up, like you had to do it just right or you or it wouldn't work. And that sucks cuz one of the switches is up there. I honestly should have taken a break from the game after that, but that's one. Then I got let into the funnel boss and I think my patience was pretty much gone, so I should have taken a break from it.
But yeah, that was that, that that sucked, man. That really sucked. Yeah, that's Sonic Superstars if you play it. Sonic soup. Just go ahead. Just go ahead and don't, don't, don't, don't, don't do the boss fights or how I guess you would have to because you're going to unlock all the levels and shit. So have fun, have fun. My condolences.
Yeah. Am I right? Yeah. Mark, you wanna? Wow, I I was gonna talk about GTFO, but my wife just sent me a text that the dog got sprayed by a skunk. Oh yeah, so. Oh no, that's our. Roommate thinks he got sprayed in the mouth.
I'm sorry to hear that, Yeah. Great.
I'm yeah, sorry. Real life is great, guys, yeah. All. Right. Well, now we will end it there. Everybody should probably gotta know about GTFO. You know how it goes. Maybe we'll come back. Maybe we'll do some some you. Probably do do a Part 2 at some point I'll have to. Think of more. Yeah, well. Put that brain. I don't think anything will be. Soccer story? Be honest, probably not. Even just saying that name gave you a headache. Oh boy. Or like just reintroduced it? Yep. All right, well then I guess we're all good.
So Player 4, you may unplug. See you guys. Babies.
Podbean
